1994 Ford Ranger XLT extended cab. Motor has been replaced with a 1988 Ford Turbocoupe 2.3 liter Turbocharged 4 cylinder (swap completed summer 2011). The turbo is a Garrett T3 from a Merkur XR4Ti on a Stinger tubular manifold. Its running the Turbocoupe LA3 computer and big vam. The harness is the stock ranger repinned. The check engine light is functional and there are no trouble codes (there is no converter but one could easily be added to the exhaust). The downpipe and exhaust are custom mandrel 2.5" pipe. The turbo and down pipe are wrapped in DEI heat wrap. The engine has a dual piston BOV and a 38mm external wastegate with 1.5" dump pipe. There are many new parts added when the swap was done: new radiator, new clutch, new slave and clutch master cylinder, new hoses, new timing belt, new stock replacement oil pan and gasket, new ford valve cover gasket, cone air filter, motor mounts, and i'm sure more that i'm forgetting. It has a Taurus electric fan with variable temperature switch. The transmission is a m5od was purchased from a wrecked ranger with only 90k miles. The trans is quiet and does not whine like high mileage ones always do. The rearend is from a 1998 ford explorer. Its an 8.8 with LSD and disc brakes. The LSD was rebuild with a new ford motorsports clutch kit. The brake system is all new: new rotors front and rear, rebuilt calipers, new pads, new lines, new explorer master cylinder. The front brakes are upgraded to the later style ranger 2 piston calipers. The suspension has been modified with DJM dream beams in the front and energy suspension leaf bushings in the back and new hangers with an axle flip. The body is rust free and solid. It has never been rusted or patched up. The paint is oxidized but could be buffed out to be presentable. The glass is all good (rear sliding window as well). The interior features explorer grey clothe buckets, console, and crack free dash, all the gauges and lights work. The a pillar has a pod with autometer temp and boost gauges and it has a aftermarket wheel with billet adapter. It also has new carpet and floor mats. The stereo is a poweracustic dvd lcd unit with new speakers. The wheels are mustang 17x8 old style bullets with 4 nearly new 245 45 17 tires. The front bumper is from a 1999 ford explorer with functional fog lights. The truck is very streetable and you can drive it home with no worries, The engine swap had no corners cut. The A/C works!

Ford updates Power Stroke diesel V8, strengthens F-450, tweaks King Ranch
Thu, 26 Sep 2013Ford is giving its F-Series Super Duty trucks some upgrades for 2015, and we're happy to say that one of them is an improved Power Stroke diesel V8. Also, Ford is strengthening the top-of-the-line F-450 to handle more abuse. And if wild west-style luxury is your thing, the automaker has performed minor cosmetic updates to its King Ranch Edition trucks, as well.
The turbocharged 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 is currently rated at 400 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque, and Ford only tells us the new and improved Power Stroke can "produce power beyond today's" engine. What, then, did Ford actually improve upon? First, the Blue Oval swapped in a new, larger turbocharger. The new Garrett GT37 turbine unit is 72.5 millimeters in diameter, eclipsing the old GT32's 64-mm diameter piece. Ford states output increases with the new turbo setup, but since the new turbocharger operates at a lower peak pressure than the old one, the automaker was able to eliminate the wastegate system and reduce the engine's complexity. Ford even redesigned the turbo's oil and cooling lines to make the powerplant simpler. A byproduct of the larger turbo is better engine exhaust braking, which is controlled manually by a button on the dashboard.
Ford claims the upgraded diesel engine is more powerful, more robust, more efficient and more refined than before.
We spy the Ford Mustang King Cobra early at SEMA
Tue, 04 Nov 2014As is the case with most auto shows, waiting for the reveal of hot new models is the worst part. So, while our own Drew Phillips has been wandering the halls here in Las Vegas since they unlocked the doors for SEMA 2014, we didn't expect him to come back with any big reveals until later in the day. Until this happened.
Meandering by the Ford stand, Phillips eagle-eyed a trunk lid that caught his attention. Popping out from an otherwise draped 2015 Mustang, the matte black lid clearly has the name King Cobra embossed on the rear.
That name is interesting for a few reasons: to start, Ford hasn't used the Cobra name (without "Jet" attached) since way back in 2004, so a new snake is certainly something to take note of. Second, the King Cobra name dates all the way back to the ill-remembered Mustang II, meaning there is a clear link to Blue Oval history here.
