1989 Ford Ranger Xlt 4x4 on 2040-cars
Alva, Florida, United States
A beautiful 1989 Ford Ranger XLT 4X4. Air Condition, Automatic with overdrive, 2.9 EFI engine, Pioneer receiver with CD, Carver amp, Morrel speakers with separate tweeters. Most of these little Rangers, especially the 4X4s, were ridden hard and put away wet. So it is near impossible to find one in good condition. This is one that has been exceptionally well cared for . It has spent its entire life in the Ft. Myers area being purchased new by a local fireman in Pt. Charolette. In 1992, with 34,000 miles on it, it was purchased by a good friend of mine, John, and after 20 years of owing it and 20 years of being married he decided to restore it so he and his wife could enjoy it another 20 years.. Now John is one of those guys that everything has to clean and neat. He owns an air conditioning business, and when you open his van, everything is in place, nice, neat, clean. You can see this kind of mentality in the restoration of the Ranger. Its like who does that to an 89 Ranger??? Just one example, instead of the ugly original fiber hood liner, John found one that is the same as used as firewall liner on aircraft,??? who does that??? You can see how nice it looks in engine bay pic. He pulled the engine out and sent it to Hoods Machine Shop, to have it completely machined and re built. The transmission was rebuilt at Kustom Transmission. New ceramic coated exhaust installed by Midas Muffler. The seat was sent to Wade Cuff where it was covered completely in Leather. The interior also has new carpet, headliner, and dash cover. The door panels are original as well all dash components, and as you can tell are like new, including the gauges, bezel, and the woodgrain trim. The truck was then given a beautiful paint using Dupont Chromabase Ford Blue Flame Effect and Ford and Ford Silver Ingot Effect, if you look at the close up pics. you can see the beauty and quality of the paint. The bumpers are original and look great , the wheels are also original and were cleaned and detailed, the tires are-- Michelin LTX--, you can see he spared no expense. The front grill is new as are the lights, the original tailgate panel was powder coated as it had become dull. Well now John had a beautiful like new Ranger again. Along with some of the receipts we have, we estimate he spent well over $11,000. on the restoration. Only problem he was transferred to New York and was not able to bring the truck with him so he sold it. I now have the truck, and recently took it on a round trip from Ft Myers to West Palm Beach. Every thing works and runs great, the engine runs perfectly with plenty of power, the truck rides and handles perfectly, A.C ran cold, the pioneer stereo sound great. The wipers and new seals worked perfectly as it poured down rain on the way back. Four wheel drive engages, automatically, and works as it should. The only thing I know of not working at this time is water temp guage, and I will fix this, as it probably is the sending unit. The entire restoration was completed late last year and has been driven less than 500 miles. Truck is sold as-is. You can call me at 239-340-0443. We have set a very conservative reserve, so don't miss the opportunity to own this beautiful truck!!. |

Michigan museum offers Model T driving classes
Sun, 29 Dec 2013Halfway between Detroit and Chicago, there is a car museum that gives visitors a unique level of interaction with antique cars. The Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners, MI has a driver's training class to teach people of any age to learn how to drive a Ford Model T.
From the crank starter to the column-mounted throttle control, this driving school teaches people all there is to know about driving and operating a Model T. Each class lasts about two and a half hours and is only open to 18 students. There are ten sessions planned for 2014 - twice a day on May 3, June 22, July 22, August 23 and September 14. The class costs $95 (or $85 for members), and it also includes a tour of the museum's automobile collection.
In addition to this driving school, the museum has plenty of exhibits on the property, and it's open all but three days per year (Easter, Christmas and New Year's Day) with free admission for school field trips and active military. Be sure to check out the Gilmore Car Museum's website or visit them on Facebook for more info.
Ford EcoBoost smashes records at Daytona
Thu, 10 Oct 2013Some mighty machines have lapped the banks of the Daytona International Speedway over the years: thunderous V8-powered stock cars, Le Mans-conquering Group C prototypes, open-wheel Champ Cars, knee-dragging superbikes... heck, the infield lake has even hosted powerboat racing. But this - this is the fastest car ever to lap the legendary raceway.
What you're looking at is the new Daytona Prototype being prepared by Riley Technologies for the new United SportsCar Championship. The car, released just last week, is powered by a new 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 from Ford's EcoBoost family, and just obliterated the top speed at the track with a blistering 222.971 miles per hour through the traps.
That's enough to annihilate the previous record that was set, also under Ford power, by Bill Elliott while placing his Thunderbird on pole for the 1987 Daytona 500 that he would go on to win. His 210.364 mph record had stood for 26 years until now.
