1984 Ford Ranger Pickup. The paint is new, although not perfect, should last a long time. The truck has the following items that would need to be sorted out by the buyer: 1. Windshield needs replacement as it is cracked 2. Small oil leak at the oil sending unit(this is a do it yourself job) 3. Exhaust leak about mid truck, not near the head so there is no danger for the valves but it may impact the performance of the truck.4. Stereo speaker connections are not hooked up. 5. Light in topper does not turn on 6. Tires are ok, but there is some signs of cracking 6.Speedometer works intermittently, the odometer works 7. Fuel gauge does not consistently work, this could be from lack of use 8.Dash has cracking, cover would be fine but the cracking is pretty deep. 9. Brakes are good but could be done in the next few thousand miles. 10. Air conditioning needs recharge.
The truck drives quite well, the carburetor has been gone through as well as the filters and fuel pump. The clutch, drive-train, transmission are all in good order, all the signal lights, horn, headlights are all in good order. The truck looks really good for the age the body is straight with no rust to be found, the mileage reads 79,907 but as I do not know exactly the history of the truck that could be 179,907 as it is a five digit odometer. This truck would be an excellent commuter truck as the V6 with a 5 speed gets excellent mileage, it looks good, the interior has obvious signs of wear as the truck is nearly 30 years old and all original. Bench seat, rubber mat floor, really good utility truck and of course easy on gas. The truck is as is, no warranty, will assist with shipping or can pick up, will sell or ship world wide. If you have questions don't hesitate to email and ask. Despite the list of items to make the truck good for everyday use it is really a straight truck for the age, nothing major in the components to fix. Good luck bidding!

Focus ST diesel variant coming, just don't look for it here
Fri, 07 Mar 2014A few years back, Volkswagen made some waves when it announced the Golf GTD - a diesel-powered car that, aside from its ultra-efficient, ultra-torquey engine, was identical to the gas-powered GTI. That meant cosseting sport seats, larger wheels, sportier suspension, larger brakes and a body kit that made the GTD indistinguishable from the GTI, except for the three little letters on the back and in the grille.
Now, Ford is looking to replicate VW's success, with a diesel version of the Focus ST. According to Motor Trend, the diesel-powered ST will use a 2.0-liter, 182-horsepower four-cylinder. With an unspecified amount of torque on offer (we'd guess around 280 pound-feet), the diesel hot hatch should hit 62 miles per hour in about eight seconds.
The report, which originally comes from Auto Express, claims the ST Diesel was confirmed by Ford Chief Marketing Officer Mark Fields during this week's Geneva Motor Show. Not surprisingly, it doesn't appear there are any plans to bring a diesel-powered Focus of any kind to the US, let alone one that uses the suspension, steering and other items from the ST. Of course, if there's an official confirmation from Ford, we'll be sure to report on it.
Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
Toyota, Ford decide to end hybrid collaboration before it starts
Tue, 23 Jul 2013Not all so-called Memorandum of Understanding pacts end in actual collaborations. For instance, after a two-year "feasibility study," Toyota and Ford have just announced that they will not be developing hybrid systems for use in light trucks and SUVs as previously planned, and the two automakers will instead continue to develop their own hybrid technology independently.
The would-be collaboration was first announced in August of 2011, and would have seen a rear-wheel-drive hybrid platform that would "improve the efficiency of trucks and SUVs while still allowing them to be driven in the way customers expect," according to our initial post on the topic.
Keep in mind that this announcement isn't to say we shouldn't expect hybrid pickups and SUVs from the two automakers, but that they probably aren't coming very soon - Ford says it will have a system "before the end of this decade" and we haven't heard much from Toyota on the hybrid truck front since the 2008 A-BAT Concept (pictured above) - and that they will not share any components between them (and they never have, for what it's worth).
