Up for auction is a beautiful 1962 Ford Ranchero. It has a 200 6 cylinder, that sounds very nice and runs smooth. 4 speed manual transmission. I looked up how many of these there were and was blown away. Only .6% of the 24000 made were 4 speeds. Interior on this vehicle is like new and shows very well. Carpet is clean, seats look great with no rips or tears, door panels look great. Dash has no cracks at all. Paint is new and looks incredible. As with any used car if you look close you will see a small imperfection if you look close but for the most part the paint is very very nice!! I was told the Ranchero came with a 170 but a few years ago previous owner replaced it with the 200. It has new exhaust, suspension. Carb was just rebuilt and vehicle comes with an extra one. I can see one very small bubble in the paint that looks likes rust but its too small to where it wont show up in a pic. Other than that the body looks great! I have never driven a 4 speed ranchero so it could be me but at times it seems a little difficult to get this one into first gear. Previous owner told me he had just done some work and it may need to be adjusted. Reserve is set VERY low on this car, this was out of my personal collection and I recently had an opportunity present itself which is the only reason for the sell of this car. Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Toyota, Ford and Honda again top Consumer Reports Car-Brand Perception Survey

Consumer Reports has released its annual Car-Brand Perception Survey, and the list looks awfully familiar. The top six brands are identical to last year's results, with Toyota, Ford and Honda continuing to occupy the podium. All told, Toyota walked away with 133 points, putting it 15 ahead of second-place Ford. Honda jumped 26 points this year, narrowing Ford's lead to just four points in total.
Consumer Reports polls buyers from across the country on how they see multiple brands in seven categories, including quality, safety, value, performance, design/style, technology/innovation and environmentally friendly/green. Researchers then combine the findings to come up with the total brand score.
While value and performance remain important to buyers, CR found quality and safety are still on top when it comes to significance. Scion and Mitsubishi found themselves at the bottom of the pack with the worst score of all, tied at just six points. Ram, Fiat and Mini filled out the lowest five with scores of seven, eight and 10 points, respectively.
