1968 Ford Ranchero 500 If you have any questions please feel free to call me Mike at 623-465-0636 Current NADA low retail is $12,700 ; high retail is $19,300. Reserve is set FAR BELOW low retail. Please remember, this is a fully restored car. Original VIN & DATA PLATE decodes as: Trim -(5A)-500xl, Engine -K-(302 2v), Axle -5-(3.00 conventional), Trans -W-(C-4 automatic), DSO -72-(San Jose plant), Body -66B-(2-dr Ranchero), Color -B-(Royal Maroon), Build Date -Feb. 8, 1968 Here's the quick story on this car. I purchased this low mileage Ranchero from a college auto shop teacher (here in AZ) and this was their school project car. Car is an original rust free and all original sheet metal 500XL Ranchero that was originally purchased in central CA and had always lived there. Car had only 48K miles on it when it's original engine and trans were removed for a transplant into a '68 Mustang, sometime around 30 years ago. This Ranchero was destined for a future 428SCJ w/4-speed project, but that never happened. It SAT for all those years inside a barn in central CA, so shop teacher found it with weathered paint & interior and was purchased from original owner as is. A 1990 5.0 HO Mustang motor, and a freshly rebuilt (and date correct) '68 C-4 trans were installed. I do not know how many miles were on this current motor when procured and installed (it ran great so no one cared). A correct 2v carb & intake were installed in place of the 302HO's factory fuel injection. Surprisingly this set up works great and car runs excellent. As a long term school project, and in an effort to keep the car as close to factory correct as possible, this car was treated to all new correct Royal Maroon paint, all new reproduction interior (seats, carpet, headliner, GT door panels), new tires (Cooper radial GT 14"), and a beautiful set of REAL Shelby 14" dished aluminum wheels with center caps. Real Ford GT Hood scoop & GT front grill (not aftermarket) were installed, along with vintage fiberglass rear bed tonneau cover and all painted body colors as well. ALL stainless trim and chrome are original and very nice. Tasteful custom hand pin striping was layed down under the clear coating which also looks really nice. All new suspension-shocks-bushings-brakes were installed. All new hoses-belts-etc. in engine. Original steering box has NO play and is very tight. Power steering and power front disc brakes all rebuilt and replaced with new as necessary. Has a all new set of Hooker Headers along with all new 2" dual exhaust w/Dynaflow mufflers. Original dash is excellent and uncut including original AM radio. A custom console installed on floor under dash holds drink cups, and Amp-Oil-Water temp guages. Also holds a CD disc stereo with new speakers installed, but the faceplate got lost so stereo is now worthless and will need to be replaced. All original rust free sheetmetal and low mileage chassis Rancheros are extremely hard to find. Because of the extremely low mileage of this chassis, there were almost no dents in the OEM sheet metal so VERY LITTLE body filler was needed anywhere. Paint job is a solid 8 out of 10 which looks great from 5 feet away, but when you get really close you can see some hazing in the clear coat. Blocking was decent, but in all honesty this car is solid DRIVER quality, and NOT a concourse show car. Drive this car every day and have a ball with it. Nice enough to take to any car show and get a trophy. I have way too many cars & bikes otherwise I'd just keep it and enjoy it, and if it doesn't sell here than that's exactly what I'll do. It would be very hard to duplicate this car for anywhere near my buy it now price. ONLY ISSUES I CAN SEE: Starter motor is tired, but still works just fine and car starts easily. A NEW REBUILT starter motor INCLUDED (boxed) for you to install if ever needed. HEATER disconnected due to slight leakage detected. I can't see water yet but I could faintly smell coolant when heater was turned on, so I'm assuming it will need a new heater core eventually. Original Shelby American center caps included in bag (see photo). American Racing center caps installed on to Shelby wheels now because their chrome is better, but these are REAL VINTAGE 14" SHELBY deep dish polished aluminum wheels and they are beautiful. Also including lots of various bits, and a quart of the maroon paint used for future touch ups if ever needed. Please call me or email me for any additional questions. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: I can ship out of country for you. Please inquire for prices. I also have a very nice '73 F-100 4x4 for sale at another auction. DOMESTIC BUYERS: I can arrange shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states USA for $400-$1000. Free local pick up or arrange your own shipping IF YOU PREFER (please). Or, fly in to Phoenix Intl. airport and I'll meet you there when your flight arrives. Drive it home. Payment accepted via cash in person, personal check, cashiers check, bank wire transfer. PAYPAL ACCEPTED FOR DEPOSIT OF $250 ONLY. PAYPAL NOT ACCEPTED for balance of purchase price. Car does not leave my possession until all funds have cleared my bank. THANKS FOR LOOKING. 2014 Ford Transit Connect configurator fires up for the whole family
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The second-generation Ford Transit Connect is almost upon us, and to get work- and family-oriented customers ready for the new model, Ford has launched a configurator for both van and wagon versions. Both body styles will go on sale early next year with the base TC Van starting at $22,000, but customers wanting side windows and rear seats will have to pony up at least an extra $3,000 for the TC Wagon.
Ford is definitely looking to get back into the family van business with the 2014 TC Wagon offering three available trim levels, two engines and the choice between five- and seven-passenger seating (with two wheelbases). Like many recent Ford products, a fancy Titanium trim level is offered, and opting for it will cost you - this trim starts at $29,000, and we were able to spec it out with a panoramic roof, tow package and front and rear parking sensors for a little over $33,000.
Businesses looking for a small, fuel-efficient work vehicle now get more options on the TC Van like the choice of split, hinged rear doors or a liftgate (with or without glass), a long wheelbase ($1,000) and Ford's CrewChief vehicle tracking system ($925). Fully loaded, this van is still costs less than the fullsize E-Series. On both Van and Wagon, the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine is a $795 option, but it is only offered on short-wheelbase models and Ford has yet to release power or fuel economy specs yet. With the standard 2.5-liter engine, the TC will get up to 21 miles per gallon in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
280-bhp Elemental RP1 revealed, now with bike-engine option
Thu, Jun 26 2014The Elemental RP1 might be Britain's next big boutique roadster success story. Designed by a team with Formula One experience, it aims to mix road car drivability with racecar performance in a single, adaptable package weighing less than 1,000 pounds. It was first previewed a few weeks ago, but the secrecy has finally disappeared due to its upcoming debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The backbone of the RP1 is a carbon fiber and aluminum tub onto which the front and rear subframes bolt on. Inside, it has an F1-like, feet-up driving position that allows for additional underfloor aerodynamic aids to improve downforce. Despite its hardcore nature, Elemental says that it wants the car to be very user friendly. Buyers should be able to drive the RP1 to the track, adjust it with some wrenches, go racing and drive it home. The company even claims the storage areas to either side of the engine offer enough room for a helmet and other racing gear. Hopefully, buyers don't crash, though, otherwise they might be stuck. Elemental is adding two more engine options for the RP1, as well. In addition to the previously announced tuned Ford 2.0-liter EcoBoost with 280 horsepower, buyers can also choose a upgraded version of Ford's three-cylinder 1.0-liter EcoBoost or a model aimed at pure track use with a 999cc Honda Fireblade motorcycle engine. The 2.0-liter uses a six-speed sequential manual gearbox, and a limited-slip differential and alternate gear sets are available as additional options. The first RP1s built will be pure racers for the 2015 season, and the first road cars will follow in the early summer of next year. Pricing isn't set yet, but scroll down for more details and full specs of Britain's latest feather light car for road and track. Introducing the Elemental Rp1 Press Release: 23/6/2014 British sports car manufacturer, Elemental Motor Company Limited, today released further details of their new and innovative, road legal track car, the Rp1. The Rp1 is an open top, road legal, mid engined sports car that incorporates state of the art road and race car technologies. Designed, Engineered and Built by a team with decades of experience in the Formula One and Supercar industries, it brings the concept of a road legal track car firmly into the 21st Century. The Rp1 will be revealed to the public for the first time, this weekend, at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, where it will located in the Moving Motor Show tent "First Glance" display.
Fields 'required' to use private aircraft, could make $5.25M as Ford CEO this year
Thu, 03 Jul 2014Mark Fields' travels on the friendly skies will soon be a relatively personal affair, as the new CEO at Ford will be required to resume air travel via the company's private planes. Fields caught plenty of flak in 2007 for flying on the company's dime to visit his family in Florida. He's since flown commercial.
According to Ford spokesperson Susan Krusel, who spoke to Bloomberg, Fields (pictured above right, with Bill Ford, Jr. at center and Alan Mulally at left) will switch to private travel "for safety and to maximize his availability for company business." In addition to his new travel arrangements, the 53-year-old exec's salary and bonuses have been revealed.
Regulatory filings by Ford revealed that Fields, whose first day in the big chair was July 1, will receive a base salary this year of $1.25 million and he'll be eligible for $3.5 million in bonuses, both of which are lower than Alan Mulally's $2 million salary and $5.88 million in bonuses received last year. That's also lower than General Motors CEO Mary Barra's alleged $1.6-million salary and considerably less than Sergio Marchionne's $3.19-million fixed salary from Fiat. Despite falling short of other CEOs, Fields' new pay still represents a 33-percent increase over his pay as Chief Operating Officer.
