78 Ranchero Gt 62k Actual Miles on 2040-cars
Sturtevant, Wisconsin, United States
1978 Ford Ranchero pickup, stored in an Airplane hanger from 1986 to 2006. Driven only a few times a summer by second owner from 2006 thru 2012. This neat little truck has only 62,000 original miles and has no rust. The cargo area is not only not rusted but hardly even has a scratch. The interior is perfect, the seat, carpet, door panels, dash pad, headliner, visors, weatherstripping, - all of it is perfect, it even comes with the original FORD black rubber floor mats that still look like new. It has a bench seat with individual seat backs and a fold down center arm rest. It has the rally style dash with the engine turned panel with full factory gauges and tachometer and also a tilt steering wheel, factory cruise control and dual remote control ralley mirrors. It has the 14x7 factory Ford wheels with 4 NEW 225/70/14 Cooper Cobra performance style tires. It has the 351 W motor that is unmolested except for the addition of a Holley "Econopower" 2 barrel carb that was installed years ago. The transmission is a FMX 3 speed automatic and it has a 9 inch open rear axle with a 2.50 gear (according to the vin tag). The car starts instantly with one pump of the gas pedal even in the recent cold weather we have had. It has a single exhaust with a stock appearing muffler but is has a nice sound. It runs, drives, shifts, stops and handless great with front and rear anti sway bars,- it is a pleasure to drive. It would make a really nice driver the way it sits and with a paint job it would be very near show quality. The bumpers are perfectly straight and shiney but the top sides of them are starting to speckel. The grill and all the trim is very nice. The car is in my shop at the present time and I can put it in the air for inspection. Once the car is sold it will have to sit outside (and it ain't that nice around here right now) so prompt pick up would be recommended. I bought this car with the hopes of my Grandson and I making it into a real gem but changes in my life and my Grandsons priorities (he is 16) have changed so I must sell it. Old car prices are really high lately but I feel that you would be hard pressed to find any cool car better than this one for the price I am asking. Since it needs no interior, weatherstripping or rust repair it would be an easy restoration basically only needing a paint job. The stripe kits are available for like $180.00 on E-Bay and elsewhere. The car is located in Sturtevant, Wisconsin roughly between Milwaukee and Chicago - three miles east of I-94. I am retired and can be here to show it or answer questions almost any time. Please call Tom at 262-497-3309 between 6:00 am and 8:00 pm (cst) with any questions, I am only requiring a $125.00 non refundable deposit to cover the selling fee I will have had to pay E-Bay. If you get here and you don't like the car all you will be out is the hundred and twenty five bucks, I won't leave any kind of bad feedback if you decide it isn't what I represented. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer and payment in full is required within ten days and pickup within 14 days unless other arrangments are made. Most forms of payment other than cash may need to clear before delivery. I do have a trailer and would consider delivery or meeting in the middle for gas and McDonalds money within like a 300 mile radius of Milwaukee. Thank you for looking at my post, I hope you can get this vehicle and enjoy it. The car is listed for sale in other places so I reserve the right to end this auction early if it gets sold somewhere else. The car will be sold complete and as is and as shown with no waranties of any kind either expressed or implied.

2015 Ford F-150 spied in the rain
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Standing as quite a contrast from the spy shots of the 2015 Ford Mustang we saw earlier today, our spies also sent along these pictures of the next-generation F-150 pickup out testing in its (heavily camouflaged) full prototype body. Much of the new truck's design is hidden under the bulky coveralls, but we expect a lot of its new lines to be inspired by the Atlas concept that debuted at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show.
Perhaps the biggest unknown surrounding the new F-150 is what, exactly, its body will be made of. Earlier reports have suggested that lightweight aluminum materials may be used throughout, offering a serious reduction in weight versus previous models. But Ford engineers will need to be careful, though, as they need to keep a tight rein on costs while preserving class-competitive (if not class-leading) towing and payload capacity.
On the powertrain front, the new F-150 will undoubtedly carry on with EcoBoost engines, and we'd bet on a normally aspirated V8 as well. A diesel option hasn't been confirmed, but we wouldn't be surprised to see one some time in the truck's lifecycle. Mum's the word on when the production F-150 will be revealed, but our best guess is that we'll see it at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show.
Ford celebrates 1 millionth Mustang built at Flat Rock
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Yesterday, the Ford Mustang turned 49 years old, and Ford didn't miss the opportunity to celebrate the one millionth version of the Mustang rolling off the assembly line at the Flat Rock Assembly plant. Production of the Mustang at Flat Rock coincided with the fifth-generation design launching in 2004, and the one millionth car was the car shown above, a 2014 GT convertible painted in Ruby Red.
In total, Ford has sold more than 8.5 million Mustangs since the original car went on sale, but some of the key milestones over the car's nine years at Flat Rock include the Shelby GT-H, Bullitt, Boss 302 and, of course, the 662-horsepower Shelby GT500. Scroll down for a press release celebrating Flat Rock's milestone Mustang.
Recharge Wrap-up: Mercedes B-Class Electric Drive is a rock star, FedEx tests electric trucks
Thu, Oct 2 2014The Mercedes-Benz B-Class Electric Drive is in a new music video for I Lived by OneRepublic. The band's singer, Ryan Tedder, has also been brought on as a brand ambassador for the German automaker. OneRepublic will also be performing the song at the Mercedes-Benz Media Night on the eve of the Paris Motor Show. No word if Mercedes plans to offer hordes of screaming teenage fans as an option package with the B-Class Electric Drive. See the video (the car shows up around the four-minute mark) or read more in the press release below. FedEx is testing converted electric delivery trucks with diesel range extenders. Looking to shrink its carbon footprint, the company has converted a handful of trucks as part of a pilot program. In addition to battery packs, each truck is equipped with diesel turbine generators (supplied by Ian Wright's company, Wrightspeed) to provide electricity when the battery is depleted. Because the diesel motors aren't powering the vehicle directly, they can continuously run at their most efficient speed, making the trucks about twice as efficient as those powered by traditional means. Read more at Wired. Ford's new aluminum-bodied F-150 will be 5 to 20 percent more efficient, the company says. The fuel economy gains depend on the particular version of the truck, but the biggest improvement will likely come from the 3.5-liter V6 and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6. Automotive News predicts the F-150 SFE to be rated at 21 mpg city/28 highway/23 combined, which are identical figures to the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. The result could be a noteworthy fuel economy battle between Ford and Ram trucks. Learn more at Automotive News. The US Department of Energy is providing $25 million in funding toward reducing the price of algal biofuels. The goal is to get the price of these renewable fuels below $5 per gasoline gallon equivalent (gge) by 2019, and less than $3 per gge by 2030. The money will fund projects to develop better algal cultures that produce biofuel and other useful bioproducts, and projects to boost biomass productivity. The DOE says it wants to help develop a "bioeconomy" that provides jobs, helps the environment and ensures energy security. Read more at Energy.gov. This content is hosted by a third party.
