Up for auction is a very nice 79 Ranchero GT. I am selling it to make room for the two El-Camino's I bought. I already own a 78 ranchero squire model so I decided to let one of the two go and this is the nicer of the two so I'll try selling it first. It has a two year old paint job with the factory gt striping. Rally wheels with trim rings and center caps. Tires are good. The interior is very nice with the full instrument dash and factory gt wheel. Door panels are nice as is the carpeting and mats. Headliner is almost new and perfect. Dual remote mirrors are good but don't adjust from the cables inside. I believe that when the car was painted, the person putting the door panels back on didn't get the adjuster cables put back in the right position so they are binding up.. Should be easy enough to pull the door panels and re position the cables so as they operate freely. It has factory power windows but no power locks. Am/fm cassette radio. All the exterior trim and emblems are present and in good shape. It is equipped with a class 3 hidden trailer hitch. Engine is the 351 M block sometimes mistaken as the Cleveland engine because it's also produced at the Cleveland engine plant. Dual exhaust. Three speed auto trans with column shift. The lights, signals, wipers are in good working order. I have owned this vehicle for just over a year and put nearly 500 miles on it since purchase. Mainly classic auto shows here in Florida. It runs very well. As it is a 34 year old vehicle, it naturally has a few issues but none that will keep you from jumping right in and going for a cruise. The a/c compressor broke the first time I took it to a car show. I believe the piston broke inside the compressor as it turns about half way and locks up. I took the belt off for now. The brakes have a slight shudder when braking sharply. The front rotors are out of round and should be turned on a brake lathe or replaced. They are not expensive. The speedo cable broke a couple of months ago so there is a couple of hundred miles more on the car than the odometer is now showing. That is available on e-bay for not too much money. I went to a car show last week and was too lazy to hand wash the car and ran it through a brushless car wash. Well, the radio antennae snapped off almost immediately upon entering the wash. It snapped right at the base where it passes through the fender bezel. The bezel was not damaged nor any damage to the fender or paintwork. I took it up to the annual Mustang and Ford roundup hosted by NPD last January and it rode very nice up the expressway. Vehicle will be sold as-is with no warranty offered or implied. If this one doesn't sell, I may offer the 78 Squire model for sale next.

Ken Block rally cars go blue in the face (and everywhere else)
Wed, 23 Jan 2013Well at least we now know why Ken Block "just ain't care" about smashing up his Ford Fiesta rally car recently. It's because he's getting a full brand makeover including a new team name, new paint scheme and even a new headquarters. Formerly known as Monster World Rally Team, Block and his Fiesta will now be competing under the Hoonigan Racing Division name, which is based out of a new 12,000 square foot facility located in Park City, UT.
As you can tell in the image above, Hoonigan Racing will replace the familiar black, white and green paint scheme with a more colorful design featuring plenty of blue, purple and red; the Monster Energy logo retains some of the car's green. The new paint scheme was inspired by Block's love of skateboard graphics from the '80s and early '90s as well as "Miami Vice-era" speedboats.
Block will continue to compete in multiple rally racing series such as Global RallyCross, World Rally Championship and X Games. The new headquarters features office space on one side and a shop for the cars on the other side. The building features plenty of stuff you'd expect from a company designed around Ken Block, including a massive gaming station for racing video games, recycled shipping containers used throughout the facility and a black bear.
Ford to add more than 2,000 jobs in Kansas City
Thu, 02 May 2013Continued high demand for the Ford F-150, along with the addition of the all-new Transit series of commercial vehicles, has led Ford to announce that it will add over 2,000 jobs at its Kansas City Assembly Plant. At the time of the announcement, the plant boasts 2,450 hourly employees working on two shifts. All told, Ford will invest $1.1 billion in the Kansas City plant to expand truck production and begin producing the Transit series.
According to the automaker, fullsize truck sales are up 19 percent through April of 2013, leading to an additional 900 workers and a third shift of production for the F-150. Production of the Transit series will begin in the fourth quarter of this year, requiring an additional 1,100 workers. In addition, Ford estimates that a total of 18,000 jobs will be created by suppliers to its Kansas City plant to support the additional vehicle production.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]
Wed, 28 Aug 2013When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.
