1978 Ford Ranchero with a V8 motor we think is a 351 Cleveland. You can look at the photo of the motor. We have a clean title in our possession. This car has been sitting for the last several years in a guy's yard here in Las Vegas. We got the motor to start and run and the car to move. We cannot guarantee it in any way shape or form. The odometer listed is the five digits showing on the speedometer. We do not know what the actual milage of the car is since its only five digits. We suspect any one who bought this would want to go through it as part of the restoration process. The glass seems fairly intact except the windshield does have a crack in it. -see the photo- The rear window looks like it was "gunked in" with some sort of glue.-see the photo- When we got the car it had a bunch of junk in the bed. After we cleaned it out, it left a lot of surface rust, but there are no cancer holes we can spot. In fact most of the sheet metal seems to be pretty straight and cancer free. We tried to take photos of the side to show what we believe is good shape. Nose seems to be complete and pretty good condition. Most of the chrome looks ok also. Rear Bumper has been whacked and is dented. We took a photo of the undercarriage to show the condition the frame and undercarriage is in. The frame looks straight and not eaten with rust. The car came with factory air but the compressor is missing. The headliner is dried out and sagging where the stiches are. Dash is dried and cracked. Seats are dry rotted from sitting in the sun, carpet also. We will be happy to show the car to anyone who is in Las Vegas from 8-5 Mon-Fri. It is in our yard at 2810 N Nellis Blvd. Please call 702-354-6723 to make other arrangements to see the car. Car is sold as is where is. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility. We will help load this car onto a transport truck.

Ford EcoBoost successful because of Soviet laser weapons system expert?
Sun, 28 Jul 2013Mike Kluzner is a man of many talents. Not only is he the software engineer responsible for fuel system diagnostics for Ford globally, he "got his start designing laser weapon systems capable of disabling the navigation systems of enemy satellites" for the former Soviet Union. Quite a résumé, wouldn't you say?
You may be asking yourself the same question that popped into our minds upon reading about Mr. Kluzner: What do laser weapon systems have to do with Ford and its EcoBoost engines? We'll let the man answer himself. "The same process for analyzing key physical relationships works for what we do today in engine combustion, catalyst chemistry and mechanics," says Kluzner. "These are all part of Ford's software engineering expertise." Who are we to argue?
Ford also employs an engineer who previously designed software to detect damage to the heat tiles on the International Space Station, as well as one who's past work involved particle physics, says the automaker in the press release below. David Bell (pictured above right), global boost system controls engineer for Ford, describes the software running EcoBoost as "the secret sauce" that makes the technology work as the driver intends and demands.
Ford S-Max Concept proves minivans aren't always minivans [w/video]
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Ford's latest don't-call-it-a-minivan is called the S-Max Concept, and it's a looker. As you can see, the conceptual overgrown hatch makes good use of Ford's latest design language, especially at the very front of the S-Max, which bears a striking resemblance to production models that include the Focus, C-Max and Fusion.
Powering the S-Max Concept is a 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine, and while Ford doesn't actually list power figures for the concept, previous estimates put the mill at 133 kW of power (about 178 horsepower) and 240 Nm of torque (about 177 pound-feet). Inside, there's room for seven passengers and at least some of their luggage.
As you'd expect, the S-Max is loaded up with all of Ford's latest infotainment technology, including Sync and MyFordTouch. More interestingly, there are also onboard heart and blood glucose monitors that we doubt will be seeing the light of production anytime soon. On that topic, don't expect to see any S-Max-shaped vehicles hitting the US market from Ford, either. Scroll down below for the press release, but not before checking out the high-res image gallery above.
Ford reports $3B profit in Q4, $6.9B for the year
Tue, 28 Jan 2014Good news out of Dearborn today, as Ford announced $3 billion in profit for the last quarter of 2013, a 90-percent increase over the same period of 2012. Net income for all of last year, meanwhile, jumped to $7.2 billion from $5.7 billion in 2012, while pre-tax profits sat at a decade-topping $6.9 billion for all of 2013.
The results of the substantial profit increases are bigger profit-sharing checks for UAW employees. How big? A record $8,800 on average for 47,000 UAW workers, making 2013 the biggest year for profit sharing in Ford history. In total, $414 million will be paid as part of the profit-sharing scheme.
Now, it should be pointed out that a fair portion of Ford's Q4 profits were due to tax benefits, totaling $2.1 billion, according to Automotive News. Total profits would have also been higher, had there not been a significant recall on the Escape, as well as plant issues in South America.
