Completely rewired with EZ Wiring harness and fuse box. New aftermarket gauges. New battery. Front tires like new rear tires new. front and rear sway bars. New rear air shocks and rear springs ( two sets, one for towing and one stock). All new door and window seals. Newly powder coated front and rear bumpers, taillights and headlight trim rings.New Panasonic stereo with Bluetooth. New upholstery. Seats from  a Thunderbird with custom console. New carpet. Interior was lined with sound deadner. Engine has electronic ignition and new aftermarket 4 barrel and intake manifold. This motor starts right up and runs smooth. Transmission shifts fine. Has custom trailer hitch. Built vehicle to tow a 3,500 lb travel trailer. Recently towed trailer over the mountains from San Diego to Imperial Valley with no problems. Truck runs smoothly and stops straight. Did not rebuild engine or transmission but no problems with either, but the mileage is unknown. Completely repainted vehicle and applied the graphics. Amateur job but good for a driver, definitely not show quality. Bodywork is not perfect, but again it is a driver. Heater works

Cons: AC needs 2 hoses and recharge. Does have a new condensor. Electric speedo needs to be recalibrated, worked until I removed the battery to do some work. can't get the temp gauge to work. Has aftermarket cruise control that I have not set up yet. Driver door needs adjustment ( a little tricky to open from the outside since I put the outside handle on).

This vehicle is for sale locally so I retain the right to end the auction early. Vehicle sold AS IS where is. Has current California plates (good till next May). No smog required.  Will work with a shipper. Payment due three days after the auction. Cashiers check or cash. Vehicle is in San Diego. Ford, GM to collaborate on 9- and 10-speed transmissions

Mon, 15 Apr 2013

Back in October, there were reports that General Motors and Ford Motor Company were hard at work co-developing new nine- and ten-speed automatic transmissions, and now both automakers have confirmed this joint operation. While there are no specific vehicles mentioned to receive either transmission, a collaborative press release issued by GM and Ford mention that the transmission will be designed for front- and rear-wheel-drive cars, crossovers, trucks and SUVs.
These aren't the first powertrain components developed jointly between these cross-town rivals, either. The six-speed automatic currently used in vehicles like the Ford Edge, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Equinox was engineered in a similar fashion. As is the case with this existing transmission, both automakers will assist in the design, development and testing of the new transmissions, but each will build its own units in its own factories. Scroll down for the official press release.

Jurassic Park made a big impact on these Jeep drivers

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

For a certain cohort of young folks, Jurassic Park is a touchstone film from their childhood. Not only did it play into practically every little boy's love of dinosaurs, the movie included some great action scenes and special effects that still hold up today. In its latest video, The Aficionauto takes a look the Jurassic Park Motor Pool, a California car club with over 40 fans who created replica vehicles from the iconic film.
The club is made up of an interesting cross-section of people. Many of them were Jeep Wrangler fans that already loved off-roading and Jurassic Park, and liked the idea of bringing them together. Like any close-knit club, it ends up being about community and people coming together to share their interests. It's quite a heartwarming video. Also, be sure to stay until the end because The Aficionauto teases a future Jurassic Park-themed vehicle. Scroll down to check out the motor pool.

Ford is building this sweet back-to-basics SUV in Brazil

Mon, 02 Jun 2014

We're use to forbidden fruit teasing us in Europe. Hatchbacks and diesels from Renault, Citroën, Peugeot, Skoda, SEAT and Alfa Romeo have been a regular torment that we've grown accustomed to over the years. This vehicle, though, is one piece of forbidden fruit we aren't entirely sure we can get over. We need it.
It's called the Ford Troller T4, and if you accidentally read that as either "reborn Ford Bronco" or "Americanized Land Rover Defender," we wouldn't be rushing to correct you. It's a basic, badass SUV, and is the first new vehicle to come from Troller since Ford gobbled it up in 2007. For those with longer memories, you'll recognize this vehicle from the concept that preceded it, the Ford T-R Concept. The production model remains remarkably true to the T-R, as well as past Trollers, but it's a slightly more modern look overall, with LED taillights, contrasting colors
You'll have to bear with us on the details, as we've been forced to rely on the notoriously literal Google Translate to convert the original Portuguese into English, which means some of the details were lost along the way.
