What it is: 1960 Ford Falcon Ranchero. Not too many of them made in 1960, and even fewer of them still around. I haven't seen another one of them of this year in Maryland at all, and I doubt that you'll see another one of this year any time soon.
Runs great, stops as it should, drives straight. 144ci original engine, original C3 transmission with manual 3 speed on the column. Newly replaced carpet, new custom made door panels, new kick panels. Interior firewall, floor, and cab rear has been completely sound deadened. Rear end has air adjustable shocks (in case you actually want to put anything in the bed of the truck (car). Bed has been sanded down and mildly coated. Gaps between the cab and bed have been coated, and all those pesky little hidden drain holes have been located and flushed so that water doesn't just sit inside the frame rails (common complaint with Falcon wagon / ranchero owners).
Engine bay has been gone through cleaned up, and sealed up. All new fluids (oil, brake, radiator), new plugs, new wires, new coil. The engine runs pretty strong for a 144, but could use a timing job. Not absolutely necessary, but it's a straight 6, and if you don't like the "lope", you'll have to re-time it.

This is a driver...not a pristine show car. Everything on the car works as it should, but not everything looks immaculate. It's an honest little runner that gets a lot of looks wherever it goes. It presents well in it's current color scheme, with the custom pin striping on the rear, blacked out front...hood...roof...bed...tail gate...bumpers...and gets quite a few second glances, but it could use some polishing compound or a good once over with a talented wet sander if you want that color to stand out.

As with every other car that's over 50 years old and is still actually on the road, if you want to make this into an absolute show car, it's going to need some tweaks here or there, but it's a fun little car (truck) to tool around in, and you'll love owning it. No major rot to be concerned with, and won't need any serious body, frame, or replacement panel work. Comes with some new parts as well. New front turn signal lenses, replacement signal buckets, turn signal switch, signal switch stalk, lots of vinyl material (same that was used to cover the kick panels and door panels), NOS fan blade, and whatever else I can find laying around that was ordered or picked up for the car. The Buy It Now price is pretty reasonable, but of course if you would like to take a chance with the auction, you're more than welcome.

This vehicle is for sale locally as well, and I reserve the right to end the auction early if a local sale is completed.

2015 F-150 launch to curb Ford profits?

Thu, 30 Jan 2014

Ford is making a big bet on aluminum with its new 2015 F-150, and it's possible that the decision will hurt the company financially, at least in the short term. After earning a record $8.6 billion in 2013, the Blue Oval does not expect to set another record in 2014. According to Automotive News, that's "largely attributable to F Series," says Bob Shanks, Ford's Chief Financial Officer.
To retool for the new F-150, Ford will idle its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan for 11 weeks and the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri for 2 weeks. "3 of the 13 overall weeks occur during what normally is our summer shutdown timeframe," said Mike Levine, Ford Trucks Communication Manager, in an email to Autoblog. The extra 10 weeks will be preparing for the more aluminum-intensive construction for the trucks and will mean over 2 months of no F-150s being made. For comparison's sake, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne just confirmed that the 200 plant in Sterling Heights, MI will be down for 30 days to retool for the new model, but obviously there are many more F-150 production variables than for the midsize sedan.
Levine notes that Ford is already running three shifts at both plants, and says the automaker has plans to ensure that there is adequate supply of the full-size pickups during the retooling process. The company does not want to suffer a shortage of the vehicle that accounted for 31-percent of its 2013 US sales and an even bigger percentage of its profits.

Meet Floyd Pullin, 102-year-old honorary president of Ford trucks [w/video]

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

When we talk about trucks we often talk about how loyal truck owners are; it's men like Floyd Pullin who provide the proof. The 102-year-old man from Confluence, Pennsylvania has only owned Ford products since the 1920s, and he's done so well by Ford Trucks that the division named him honorary president for a day, not long after he took delivery of his latest ride, a 2013 F-150 STX.
That's the 16th Ford he's owned. If he bought his first when he was 16, he'd have flipped into a new car or truck about every five years. For 86 years. Not a bad run of business for either side.
Ford Trucks made a video to wish Pullin a happy birthday, which was celebrated at his local Ford dealership and was visited by a Pennsylvania state senator. You can watch it below.

McLaren, Koenigsegg, Toyota, Ford, Dodge and Corvette Lego kits announced for 2021

Tue, May 4 2021

Lego has announced a slew of car-themed sets for 2021. The six kits comprise nine vehicles and fall under the brick pusher's Speed Champion line of official OEM-licensed kits. News of their arrival comes from German toy retailer JB Spielwaren's pre-order listings, which show three single-car sets and three dual-car sets of matched marques. Starting with the McLaren Elva roadster, the kit consists of 263 pieces and is finished in blue. It seems to have a difficult time capturing the curves of the real-life Elva, but there's only so much you can do with a bunch of plastic blocks. Lego has made several other McLaren kits before, including the Senna, 720S, and a more advanced Senna GTR for the Technics line. Next up is the Koenigsegg Jesko, made up of 280 pieces and finished in white. Though the real-life Jesko is still curvy, this kit does a better job of replicating its aggressive maw, vents and cantilevered rear wing. Rounding out the single-car sets is the 299-piece Toyota GR Supra in yellow. This marks the first time Toyota has lent their license to Lego. Again, it struggles a bit to represent the curvy Supra, relying on printed details like logos and headlights to identify. On the other hand, the Chevrolet two-car does a stupendous job with the 1968 Corvette. The C3 is instantly recognizable as such. The C8-R race car it's paired with suffers from the same issues as some of the previous cars, though. The set contains 512 pieces, and funnily enough the C8 driver has short hair while the C3 driver sports a period-correct wavy mane. The next set is a 627-piece Mopar-themed pair, including a purple (Plum Crazy?) 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A and an SRT top fuel dragster. The race car is spot on, but the Challenger was probably tough to make given the width restrictions. It looks a couple of pegs too narrow compared to the wide proportions of the real deal. Last but not least, the Ford set contains a Bronco R and Ford GT Heritage Edition. Consisting of 660 pieces, the set does an excellent job of representing both cars. The GT looks faithful in its Gulf livery, and the Bronco R looks more like a real Bronco than the actual Bronco R race truck. All in all, it's always fun to see more Lego sets with real cars, and we're glad to see more manufacturers added to the roster. The single-car sets are recommended for ages 7 and up, while the double-car sets have an 8 years and up rating. Price in U.S.
