This American Classic was purchased new in Griswald, Iowa by my uncle. From what I understand, the 351 Cleveland was not available in this truck, but my uncle was real good friends with the dealer who was able to pull some strings and got it ordered with the Cleveland. Right after he got it, my uncle had a 4 barrel carb and manifold put on. My uncle drove it to California where he lives and it was there until 1987 when my dad bought it. It has been in Colorado since then. This was my dad's pride and joy! Oil was changed every 3000 miles and regular maintance was done as needed. The speedometer was replaced in 2007. Not sure why. Car had 144,578 miles when speedo was replaced. New speedo had 185,214 miles on it. So, actuall miles on car is 149,295 right now. Shows how little my dad drove it, he only put about 5000 miles on it in 2 years before he passed away in 2009. He had the seat reupolstered years ago and the carpet and headliner are in great shape. I took this out for a drive the other day just to blow the cob webs out. I was doing at least 90 MPH on the highway and it rode like a dream. I was very impressed. Very nice riding car. AC was still blowing cold air and everything seemed to be working just fine. The car was repainted 5 or 6 years ago and a set of original stripes (an extra set my uncle bought with the car) was put on it. The only thing I didn't care for is the guy painted it with single stage paint. It looks good, but the top and the hood will need a good buffing. All the original trim is there with ony a few minor issues (see pics.). There are 3 cracks in the dash. Two can be seen in the pics. The other one is to the left side. It does come with a fitted carpeted dash cover. There is no rust on car except for surface rust on underside which is normal. I did notice the tail light bezzles are getting a little bit of pitting. Front bumper has 2 spots that the chrome is pealing, but the bumper is in great shape. Tires still have plenty of tread, but there is some weathering and age starting to show on sidewalls. This is a true survivor! We would love to keep it, but it just isn't feasible and we would rather see someone get it who will appreciate it the way my dad did instead of letting it sit and rot away. If you have questions or need more pics., please let me know. A $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of auction end. Payable by PayPal only. PayPal, Certified US Cashiers check or cash for the remainder within 7 days of auction end. Car will be held until funds are cleared. To be picked up in Strasburg, CO (30 miles east of Denver). Or if you arrange the shipping out of Denver I will take it there for you. Thank you. THE BUYER WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Texas plumber shocked his old Ford F-250 is now in terrorists' hands [w/video]
Thu, Dec 18 2014Do you ever wonder what the a owner is doing with your vehicle after you trade it in? Mark Oberholtzer of Mark-1 Plumbing in Texas City, TX, has no need to imagine, but it's probably his worst nightmare. That's because an image of his old Ford F-250 is now on Twitter as a gun platform in the Syrian Civil War. While the image only appeared recently, Oberholtzer traded the truck in last November. Somehow since then the F-250 made its way from Texas to Syria. According to a report from television station WHOU, the dealer that took the trade said the pickup immediately went to auction. Unfortunately, along the whole route no one ever took Mark-1 Plumbing's name and phone number off the door. So when the image went up on Twitter, everyone knew whom the Ford previously belonged to. The plumbing company makes it abundantly clear that this whole bizarre situation is simply a coincidence, and it has absolutely no ties to the conflict in Syria. However, that isn't preventing people from phoning the business with angry calls and threats. Things are so bad that Oberholtzer keeps the phones unplugged for relief. Scroll down to watch a video of the guy's flabbergasted reaction to finding out what his F-250 is doing now. This content is hosted by a third party. Ford Transit Skyliner Concept is a Gulfstream for the road
Sat, 12 Apr 2014If you are afraid to fly or just want to arrive at your ultimate destination in absolute comfort, then the Ford Transit Skyliner concept might be the perfect vehicle for you. Built by Galpin Auto Sports and based on a 2015 Transit, the van is basically a private jet on wheels. It even has a touch of Transformers about it with the ability to switch between four modes by pressing a button in a smartphone app.
Based on the long wheelbase, high-roof model with 487 cubic feet of cargo space and 6 feet, 9.5 inches of interior height, the Skyliner has movable captains chairs that shift around among four modes. In theater mode, the seats turn and recline to face a 52-inch retractable movie screen with 7.2 surround sound. For business, a motorized table unfolds, and the chairs gather around it. There is a mode for tailgating where the door opens four-feet wide, and, when traveling, passengers can recline back with footrests that extend for maximum comfort.
To make the ride even plusher, there is a satellite and media server to meet your entertainment needs, and there is even a built-in bar in the back. If this Ford had a bathroom, you could live in it. Of course, you would need to hire a driver to enjoy all the amenities in the back.
Detroit 3 and UAW set for showdown over tiered wages
Mon, Mar 23 2015This week, thousands of United Auto Workers will converge on Cobo Center in Detroit for the Special Convention on Collective Bargaining, an every-four-year event that lets members tell UAW leaders what the negotiating priorities should be during contract negotiations. This is where a lot of sand and a lot of lines start coming together in preparation for contract negotiations between the UAW and the Detroit 3 automakers, which will happen later this year. Number one on the UAW agenda is the end of the two-tier wage system created in 2007 to help the automakers get through bankruptcy; veteran workers are paid the Tier 1 rate of around $29.00 per hour, new hires are paid the Tier 2 rate of between $15 and $20 and get about half the benefits of Tier 1. Tier 2 hiring has been an undoubted success for the automakers, allowing them to keep factories in the US and hire more workers. By agreement, it is capped at a certain percentage of each automaker's workforce, and while the union's ultimate position is to get rid of the dual-scale system entirely; one leader said Ford could easily afford the $335 million it would take to convert all its workers to Tier 1 out of its $6.9 billion in 2014 North American profit, and General Motors could do the same out of the $5 billion it is handing to investors through the (admittedly forced) share buyback. Other delegates say that at the very least they'd be happy with enforcement of the current caps in the new contract. The automakers, conversely, would welcome expansion of the Tier 2 ranks. Including benefits, import automakers pay workers "in the high $40 range" per hour, according to an analyst, while Ford and GM pay about $59 in wages and benefits per hour. More Tier 2 workers on the rolls would let those two companies get labor cost parity with the competition. Fiat-Chrysler pays wages closer to the imports because of special exceptions in its UAW contract that allow unlimited Tier 2 hiring; those exceptions will end on September 14 and bring FCA into line with the other domestics, unless the new contract maintains them. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is opposed to the two-tier system, having called it "almost offensive." One analyst says the UAW might win a sizable pay raise for Tier 2 and a small increase for Tier 1, but the keystone issue will be how the hiring matrix can help the automakers keep overall wages in line with the imports.
