Holy cow look at this Thunderbird!
32k miles! You read that right: Thirty-two thousand five hundred an six original miles! It has not rolled over, the pieces inside reflect this extraordinary number, and it still roars like something from the 70's. In fact, 1972 is where it's from. It was one of the first ones built (#420 according to the VIN) (and was built mid 1971 even!) The interior is surprisingly very clean and intact! Powered seats will allow you to roll the streets like a king! You can be the envy of all with the original warranty, even! Flaunt the original "metal Doritos" paint! Original Owner's Manual and documentation in amazing condition! Many things are brand-new as well: +Water pump +Headlights +Rotor +Tires +Points +U-Joint +Slip yolk +Other pleasant surprises! All this can be yours at a splendidly low price since I cannot continue the needed upkeep of such a jem on my current hourly wage, and it needs a couple things to get running again (a carburetor kit and float, a gas fuel filter, and maybe an electric ignition conversion kit). There's also a superficial bump up front that doesn't affect anything. According to various fan sites for classic cars that I looked at (because KBB doesn't cover that far back), when this thing is fixed up it's worth $11,000, so you have that to look forward to. Feel free to drop by and check it out since a description online is a poor substitute for an examination with your own fleshy bits. BONUS: Act now and get these brand new spark plugs and cables for free! That's gonna save you over $100 and potential headaches of finding them! |

'84 MotorWeek Cherokee, Bronco and Blazer comparison indulges your SUV nostalgia
Fri, Jan 16 2015These days, truck-based, full-frame SUVs are somewhat of a rarity on the auto landscape due to the rapid rise in popularity of easier-driving, car-based crossovers. Although, without the gradually building popularity of these chunky, high-riding vehicles decades ago, it's unlikely that America's roads would be filled with so many CUVs today. In its latest dig into the archives, MotorWeek has found a 1984 comparison test of a trio of these early Sport Utility Wagons, as long-time host John Davis called them, that helped get acceptance of this segment going. This is a red, white and blue test of the SUVs from American automakers at the time and pits the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Bronco and Jeep Cherokee (specifically in Wagoneer guise) against each other. Driving manners and interior usability are considered in the evaluation, but Motorweek actually takes these vehicles off road, too. Among the bigger revelations is the improvement in on-road ability in the past 30 years. While specific 0-60 times aren't given, all three models take around 10 seconds just to get to around 50 miles per hour in the 500-feet on-ramp acceleration test. Check out this clip to see just how far this segment has progressed in the past three decades or just get a blast of nostalgia from these now vintage models. Feds looking into Ford Explorer exhaust leak complaints
Fri, 20 Jun 2014There may be a burgeoning problem with exhaust leaks in the 2011-2014 model year Ford Explorer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is examining multiple complaints of a gasoline smell in the cabin of these SUVs. However, the exact cause of this problem is still unknown.
"The agency is reviewing all available data and will take appropriate action as warranted," said a NHTSA spokesperson in an email to Automotive News. Owners seem to generally complain on the regulator's website of the smell entering the cabin through the air vents. At this time, the government organization has not yet opened an official investigation into the problem, though. When it does begin inspecting vehicles, NHTSA posts a detailed breakdown of its public data online.
Similar problems have been reported about the Explorer in the past, though. In 2013, Ford issued a recall for the 2013 model year of the SUV due to a fuel leak that could cause drivers to smell a gasoline odor and repaired them again later for another possible leak. In response to Autoblog's questions, Ford responded via email: "We are not aware of a NHTSA investigation. We are currently reviewing the case and in the event that any action is required, we will address it promptly."
2015 Ford Mustang revs it up at Cars & Coffee
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Just because the new 2015 Ford Mustang has officially been released, you didn't think that would be the end of the matter - did you? Of course not. There'll still be plenty of rumors, reports and video footage to bring you. Like this, the first non-official footage of the new pony car in the wild.
Shot by YouTube user SotA1080 and dug up by our friends at CarBuzz, this clip shows the new Mustang posing for photos (alongside other Mustangs) and starting up its engine at the most recent gathering of Cars & Coffee in Irvine, CA. And this being the GT model, it's not packing the V6 or the turbo four, but the red-blooded 5.0-liter V8 that tells us and enthusiasts worldwide that the new Mustang has not lost its way. Scroll on down to watch the footage for yourself.
