Up for auction is a RARE, 1945 Ford F-1  pick up .I read there was less than 20,000 of these made due to the war efforts. This was someones old hotrod at one time. Truck is an original shortbed. Has been stored for many years and engine has developed what appears to be condensation or moisture in the cylinders and is stuck. I pulled the plugs and currently have it soaking and do believe it will free up with some tinkering .Engine is complete and oil looks good.It is a later model Ford 8ba flathead (more horsepower). No battery. Starter and radiator are present and look usable.Truck will need some body work in various areas. Roof will need some repair but should be a rather easy fix for someone who is familiar with body work. Front fender and nose section have denting but are very repairable. Bed will need some repair. Has some rust spots here and there.Doors open and close but the locks will need some tinkering as they sometimes hang up or don't catch. Windows roll up and down fine but glass on both doors is cracked. Windshield and back glass look good. Has a later ford standard transmission and a later rear end. Driveline is there and connected. Has nice chrome grille bars and headlight trim. Hood top and side trim is in nice condition. Gauge cluster looks to have been restored at one time and is in pretty nice shape. Truck has a really nice tailgate. Running boards are original and look solid. The bed floor is just plywood and will need replaced. Has original juice brakes on the front and later hydraulic ones on the back due to the later rearend. Master cylinder does move freely but no fluid is present. Clutch seems ok. This would make a FANTASTIC project for someone as most everything is there. I don't think it will take much to get this truck back on the road. It is sold As-is. If it does not sell, I will get it running and sell as a driver. I can store for 30 days if paid in full. Can deliver to Scottsdale,Arizona  Goodguys on the weekend of March 9th if that helps . If paid by check ,I will need to hold the check for a minimum of 10 working days .Thank you

I will give the buyer the option to purchase a very nice 46-47 ford bare replacement cab for an additional 400 dollars (If you don't want to fool around with body work and would rather swap out the cab).

Martini Mustang is a 'what if moment' gone right

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

Feast your eyes on a masterpiece. This is Steve Strope's Ford Mustang in the classic fastback bodystyle, and as you'll notice, it sports the signature colors of Martini Racing, a livery that's as legendary as any Gulf Racing-styled car. But the red, white and blues of the Martini stripe down this Mustang's middle tell only a very small part of the story, in the latest video from Petrolicious.
What would you guess is under the hood? A 289-cubic-inch V8? Maybe a 302, or some absurd Ford crate engine? Maybe Strope went all Tokyo Drift - he's actually responsible for the "Hammer" Plymouth Satellite driven by Vin Diesel at the end of the movie - and found an RB26DETT to drop into the pony car? You'd be wrong on all counts.
This mad, mad man somehow finagled a Ford-Lotus engine from a 1966 Indianapolis 500 car into the Mustang's engine bay. Yes, a Mustang with an engine designed for a 160-mile-per-hour, open-wheel racecar. That's like someone in 40 years dropping McLaren's 2.4-liter V8 from the MP4-28 into a Scion FR-S. It'd just make a monster.

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor, Green, John Beltz Snyder and Assistant Editor Zac Palmer. They do a rundown of the latest news, including rumors of the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma sharing a platform, Jeep's insane Easter Safari concepts and an upcoming "entry level" performance Ford Mustang. Then they talk about driving the new Chevrolet Blazer and Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, and compare driving the Genesis G70 to the Kia Stinger. Finally, they take to Reddit to spend someone's money on a new crossover. Autoblog's guilty pleasure cars

Tue, Mar 10 2015

Guilty pleasures are part of life – don't even try to pretend like you don't have one (or two, or six). In the non-automotive space, this could come down to that secret playlist in your iPhone of songs you'll only listen to when you're alone; or think of that one TV show you really do love, but won't admit to your friends. I've got plenty, and so do you. Going back to cars, here's a particularly juicy one for me: several years ago, I had a mad crush on the very last iteration of the Cadillac DTS. Oh yes, the front-wheel-drive, Northstar V8-powered sofa-on-wheels that was the last remaining shred of the elderly-swooning days of Cadillac's past. Every time I had the chance to drive one, I was secretly giddy. Don't hate me, okay? These days, the DTS is gone, but I've still got a mess of other cars that hold a special place in my heart. And in the spirit of camaraderie, I've asked my other Autoblog editors to tell me some of their guilty pleasure cars, as well – Seyth Miersma, as you can see above, has a few choice emotions to share about the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Read on to find out what cars make us secretly happy. Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG This decadent convertible is the epitome of the guilty pleasure. It's big, powerful, fairly heavy and it's richly appointed inside and out. It's a chocolate eclair with the three-pointed star on the hood. Given my druthers, I'd take the SL65 AMG, which delivers 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque. That output is borderline absurd for this laid-back convertible. I don't care. You don't need dessert. Sometimes you just crave it. The SL line is about the feel you get on the road. The roof is open. The air, sun and engine sounds all embrace you. It's the same dynamic you could have experienced in a Mercedes a century ago, yet the SL gives you the most modern of luxuries. An Airscarf feature that warms my neck and shoulders through a vent embedded in the seat? Yes, please. Sure, it's an old-guy car. Mr. Burns and Lord Grantham are probably too young and hip for an SL65. I don't care. This is my guilty pleasure. Release the hounds. – Greg Migliore Senior Editor Ford Flex I drove my first Flex in 2009 when my mother let me borrow hers for the summer while I was away at college. The incredibly spacious interior made moving twice that summer a breeze, and the 200-mile trips up north were quite comfortable.
