1965 Ford Econoline Spring Special Pickup, super Rare Yellow Color, rebuilt Motor on 2040-cars
Lake Forest, California, United States
You are looking at a Super Rare 1965 Ford Econoline Spring Special Pickup Truck.I know people throw that term around a lot with these trucks and for good reason.Let us count the reasons:1. Ford Econoline (you don’t see a lot of them anymore)2. Pickup (you see even fewer of them)3. Spring Special (only 2000-2500 reportedly made from May 1 through July 20 of 1965) with the standard color being Special Poppy Red Paint4. This one was ordered with (# 8, Springtime Yellow Paint)Only four are known to exist.Got to think the original purchaser thought that through, Springtime Special with Springtime Yellow paint, yea!!Truck is a ways from being all that it should be, unfortunately, I have just run out of time to dedicate to it the love that it needs.Truck runs and drives, but has a charging issue, so NO it can not be driven across country, or up or down the coast. It will need to be trailer-ed.Body is in good condition with no “major” rust conditions as many of these trucks have. Has the usual surface on the floor boards, and in bed, absolutely no rust through anywhere (please see pictures). There are a few areas that were being worked on when I bought this beauty, using the old school, drill a hole dent puller. Those are on the front driver’s side nose, front passengers door and nose is a little wavy with some of those pulling holes (please see pictures). There are a few dings and dents, nicks and scrapes and occasional random hole here and there. Roof is dented and there is a decent dent under the rear window (please see pictures).Motor has been rebuilt; no I don’t have the paperwork to prove it unfortunately. It’s a 200, an upgrade from the original 170 as it has 5 freeze plugs on the side.Windshield wipers not shown, but will be included.Tailgate is in good condition, with the usual dings and dents for a nearly 50 year old tailgate, but the corners and bottom are good with no rust through. I do not have the hinges or prop rods for the tailgate unfortunately.Seats and dog house are not bolted in from when I was working on the charging issue.Back in the day the entire under carriage was sprayed with an under coating that is now flaking off leaving the under carriage almost like new. Every time I hit it with a pressure washer, a little more flakes off (please see pictures).Windshield is cracked (a new windshield will be included)Radio not installed, but will be included with purchase.Steering wheel could stand to be replaced.Front doors window weather stripping has been removed, (but a new kit will be included). No Spring Special Trim included, sorry. I know, that’s kind of a bummer. Please check out my other auctions as I have a variety of things up for sale, you just never know what you will come across. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have about this auction, as I will do my best to answer them. Payment will need to be CASH or Bank Cashiers Check, check must clear before you or your hauler can take possession of the truck. I’m sure I’ve missed something, so please do not hesitate to ask questions. I can tell you what ever you need to know. If you are local to the Orange Co, Lake Forest area, please make an appointment to stop by and check it out. Thanks for looking at this item up for auction. Please do me the honor of taking a quick peek at my other items up for auction. You just never know want you might find that you just can't live without. |

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?
Thu, Feb 5 2015The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.
A tribute to William Clay Ford
Tue, 11 Mar 2014The passing of William Clay Ford has been a big event for the company he spent most of his life helping run. Ford spent 57 years working for his family's company. Considering the Blue Oval has been around for over 100 years, WCF's passing is the end of an era for the Dearborn-based manufacturer.
Ford's YouTube channel has issued a short memorial video highlighting the life of the longest-lived grandson of company founder Henry Ford. It follows William Clay from his time as a boy, showing him alongside his grandfather, through his younger years, and into his twilight, as the patriarch of the Ford family.
Take a look below for this touching memorial video on William Clay Ford.
Ford reveals Fiesta ST race car, points at road ahead for bigger things in Global RallyCross
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The 2014 Ford Fiesta ST doesn't go on sale until this summer, but fans of Global RallyCross will be able to catch the car in action before then. Announced ahead of the Chicago Auto Show, the Fiesta ST will be the car run by Ford GRC teams this season, and the model on display in Chicago will be the racecar built by Swedish tuner OlsbergsMSE driven by Tanner Foust and Brian Deegan. Ken Block and his newly renamed Hoonigan Racing Division will also be competing in the Fiesta ST.
The 2013 GRC season has not been announced yet, but the venues will also include the summer X Games events in Brazil, Spain, Germany and, of course, Los Angeles. Ford announced that it will be the sole automotive sponsor of this year's summer X Games, and it will be looking to bring home a gold medal this year after Block placed silver last year.
In other Ken Block- and Ford-related news, another Chicago debut will be a tuned Focus ST called the TrackSTer project. Built in cooperation with Block, Ford and automotive tuner fifteen52, the TrackSTer will get plenty of styling, performance and handling upgrades. Some of the add-ons include a performance exhaust and short-throw shifter from Ford Racing, a rebuilt engine, upgraded components such as the limited-slip differential, intercooler, engine controller and clutch as well as upgraded brakes.
