Up for auction is on 1948 Ford F1. I bought it and put some work into it, then sold it to a friend and he put some work into it and recently I have bought it back and put some more work into it.
The brakes have been over hauled with new shoes, wheel cylinders, flex lines and hardware. The drums are in good condition and should offer years of faithful service.
The front end has been rebuilt. The front axle is a dropped unit that lowers the front 3" without giving up ride quality. Bushings, bearings, tie rods and king pins were all replaced.
The front springs have been disassembled, cleaned and painted. The grooves have been smoothed out and the edges polished. The individual leaves were greased and a poly slider was placed in between each leaf. The original springs are supple and with the upgrades give a pretty smooth ride. While the front end was off the frame was cleaned up and painted POR black. The front end has been professionally aligned and the caster is set at a steady 7 degrees.
The rear tires are new 16 700 Firestone wide white walls. The front are used 15 g78 tires. The rear springs were also disassembled and cleaned, three leaves were removed. The rear is the original unit. New u-joints were installed front and rear and the drive shaft was professionally balanced.
The engine has 70k miles on it before we pulled it down to a short block. Pre-emission heads were swapped in for better flow. Major components were inspected and then reassembled with new oil pump, new timing gear and chain set. The alternator, water pump and regulator are also new. Of course new plugs, points, cap and rotor were used as well. The carburetor is an Edelbrock 600cfm. Tthe truck responds well to acceleration and does not bog or smoke. The engine is connected to an FMX trans that came with the donor car and is believed to have apx 70k on it as well. The filter and fluid were changed before it was installed. No burned smell or excessive metal were noted. The engine and transmission motivate this old truck very well.
The truck has been rewired and turn signals added. There are two aftermarket gauges under the dash to help monitor heat and oil pressure. The truck holds a steady 30 psi when hot and obviously more when cold. The engine temperature stays in the 180 range with the help of an electric fan that is controlled by a toggle switch. The heater blows hot though the duct work needs replaced. The wiper motor has been rebuilt and works very well for a vacuum operated motor.
This truck is being sold AS IS . And it IS a project. It is NOT a finished vehicle. The truck has been driven on the street off and on for years, but it is not ready for daily driver status. There is plenty of tuning and tweeking to be done. The need for body work should be obvious from the pictures. There is a little bit of rust everywhere. Again, see pics. Windows seals will need to be addressed at some point. And the seat needs to be recovered. That blanket is there to keep the springs from poking through. The driver's side window and regulator will need to be replaced. The window dropped abruptly and broke when the regulator failed. I would recommend rebuilding the steering box at some point as well. There is slop unless you over tighten the adjustment and then you get a wobble under deceleration from 60 -55mph. In other words, it steers like an old truck.
This truck is being sold as is, where is. I can help with storage or reasonable requests for helping with transportation. I will not arrange shipping. I will work with whatever shipper you choose. I will make myself available, meet you tdriver and assist with loading, but I will not arrange shipping.
I will need a Non-refundable deposit of 1000 dollars within 24 hours of the auction ending. Final payment must be made within 5 days of end of auction.Cash or check is fine, but payment must clear before the truck leaves our custody. This truck is for sale locally as well and we reserve the right to end this auction early. If you have any questions, just call me. Doug 804-283-6578. The truck can be seen at:

USPS releases hot rod stamps to speed up your delivery
Sun, 08 Jun 2014After one of the worst winters in recent memory for much of the country, summer is finally here. It's time to drop the top, open the sunroof or at least put down the windows and take a long drive. The United States Postal Service is celebrating the season's sun in automotive style with two new hot rod Forever stamps.
Both stamps depict classic '32 Ford hot rods. One shows the car from the front at a low angle in red (pictured above), while the other depicts the car from the back in black with flames running down the side.
To introduce the new stamps on their first day of availability, the USPS went straight to the source at the National Street Rod Association Street Rod Nationals in York, PA. They were unveiled by Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, Car Crazy host Barry Meguiar and NSRA Special Events Director Jerry Kennedy.
Ford readying Ranger-based Everest SUV?
Fri, 21 Feb 2014Way back in August, we showed you a Ford concept for the Australian market called the Everest. Now, we can show you that work on the new Ranger-based SUV is well under way.
At this stage, it's still quite clearly a mule (note the misalignment of the front and rear doors), wearing the Ranger's front end and the rump of Ford's overseas Territory crossover. The wheelbase is shorter than a Ranger, according to our spy photographers, which strikes us as somewhat odd for a more passenger-oriented vehicle. Disc brakes should be fitted at all four corners, while the new SUV, which will almost certainly wear the Everest name, should sport a new rear suspension.
In terms of looks, we're expecting the Everest Concept to inform the appearance of the production model. Naturally, there will also be some interior tweaks, particularly around the dashboard, which is covered in these photos.
Thieves still love older Hondas and pickups most, says NICB [w/video]
Wed, 20 Aug 2014No one wants to have their car stolen, but a new study by the National Insurance Crime Bureau has some bad news for older Honda owners and pickup drivers. Fortunately, it has better news for drivers overall. The group is reporting that according to preliminary data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, thefts were down 3.2 percent in 2013 (versus 2012) to fewer than 700,000 cars. That's the lowest figure since 1967. That's also less than half of the peak of over 1.66 million thefts in 1991. "The drop in thefts is good news for all of us," says NICB President and CEO Joe Wehrle. "But it still amounts to a vehicle being stolen every 45 seconds and losses of over $4 billion a year."
Honda drivers might not find it such good news with older Accord and Civic models topping this year's theft study. Toyota and Dodge can't really celebrate, either, with two models each on the list, as well. Overall, this year's list was split evenly between foreign and domestic models, which were mostly pickups.
The 10 most likely vehicles to be stolen in 2013 were:
