For sale are these 1942-1947 Ford 1/2 ton pickup body panels from a dry Montana truck - they are the only pieces for sale, not the chassis. I bought this for the frame and don't know much about the body except what I have to say here.

Montana metal is the best! No road salt, dry climate - most of the original paint is still on the body! Why fight rust when you don't have too? If you blasted these, you'd have some solid parts to work with. Look at what these parts go for repro/used and you'll see this is a good package deal.

Obviously, ask questions and shoot me an offer.

You get:

1) Cab - very nice shape, only surface rust except cab floors (floors are rusty and need replacement panels), solid firewall/drip rails/window frames, uncut dash, includes valuable gauge cluster (not reproduced) and heater, comes with seat back springs (nice shape, still with some covering) but no bottom cushion, gas tank, reproduction passenger door (no drivers). I believe this cab fits 1937-47, but please check yourself.

2) Bed - fairly straight, has spare tire carrier, original metal floor covering, no tailgate, no wood subfloor. I believe this bed fits 1942-50 half tons, but please check yourself.

3) Rear Fenders - these aren't even reproduced except in fiberglass - no cancer but would need plenty of work repairing dents and tears

4) Running Boards - each has a 2 inch hole where pipe was welded on sticking upwards (not sure why), serviceable but would also need work

Buyer is encouraged to inspect these in person; located in Belgrade, Montana, near Bozeman. Parts are sold as-is and where-is and buyer is responsible for asking questions before bidding, and for shipping. You get no title, frame or running gear with this, only the parts listed above. I require a $500 PayPal deposit and the balance in cash upon picking up the parts, which are loose from the frame and ready to load. I will be happy to answer any inquiries. Thanks!  406-594-3075

2014 Ford Fiesta Titanium

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

You might not be interested in owning a subcompact (B-segment) hatchback for $20,000. Let's be clear from the get go here: there are any number of reasonable arguments for staying away from the highest-content versions of these small cars. Ford's player in the B-segment arena is the newly updated 2014 Fiesta, and the Titanium trim represents the most luxurious instantiation of the model. We recently were loaned a Fiesta Titanium for a week, whose final sticker price hit $20,390, with navigation being the only standalone option added to the bottom line. By way of comparison, the most basic version of the all new, one-segment-up Mazda3 hatchback costs $19,740 with delivery and destination accounted for, and no options added on.
Hold on to that thought for a moment, we'll get back to it.

Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.

Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.
