Up for auction is a very nice 1940 Ford Rat/Street rod pickup. This has a clean and clear Michigan 1940 title. The truck is a 100% driver with 95% of the parts on the truck being brand NEW. This was built and finished just over 2 months ago. I have put roughly 700 miles on the truck since finished and most was on the expressway. This truck will just cruise along at 70 mph no problem and is very smooth on the road.

Like I stated there are so many new parts I'm not sure where to start.

SOME NEW:

Coker wide white walls

4 1/2'' Speedway drop axle

Speedway spindles

Speedway front disc brake conversion

Speedway Radius Arm kit

15 gallon Aluminum Fuel cell w/ gm sending unit

32' Ford 3 Core Aluminum Radiator

32' Ford tail lights and brackets

Hurst Pro Grip 2 shifter/ cover

All wiring and electronics

All engine parts

Every nut and bolt

ENGINE/TRANS:

The engine and trans are freshly built. The engine is a oval port head 4 bolt main block, early 70s engine. New: Gilmer clogged serpintene Belt & pulley kit, water pump, Competition cams .554 lift cam and lifter set, pushrods, Meling high volume oil pump, Billet fuel pump, Holley 750 double pumper carb, Distributer, MSD 8.5mm plug wires, Ac Delco plugs, Aluminum tall milled valve covers, shogun Double shotgun air cleaner, 1'' aluminum carb spacer, GM 7 quart oil pan, Comp Cam double roller timing chain, billet timing chain cover, braided oil dipstick, billet Power Master 1 wire altinator, Billet altinator bracket, Mr. Gasket fuel pressure gauge, polished aluminum intake, Jegs puller fan, High torque mini starter, and more. The trans was just rebuilt, new kick down cable and has a 2200 stahl B&M converter in front of it.Trans shifts great and engine runs nice with a mild lope when idling. Sounds very nice. The truck also has 160 degree thermastat in it with a automatic thermastat that will kick it on at 185 or you have a toggle switch in the cab to over ride it if you are at a car show or cruise. The temp runs at 165-170 which is great.

INTERIOR:

Custom bomber boat seats recovered with black and red material and has red leather piping on the edges. The floor of the truck has been channeled about 7'' and was done with 16 gauge sheet metal. I am 6' tall and weigh 175 lbs and I fit with lots of room. The top has never been cut since I liked the look the way it sits. There are new real glass for the windshield and a new windshield seal. There is a CD player mounted in the glove box with two 4x6 Boss speakers mounted in the rear of the cab. I have a Hurst Pro grip 2 mounted and works and feels great. The gauge panel is aluminum with sunpro gauges. The steering is 3/4'' bar with a pull off steering wheel. The wheel is grant. Lokar throttle pedal and red lap belts. There is NO back window or door glass in the truck.

CHASSIS:

Original frame to the back of the cab then 2x4 material for the rear section of the truck. Rearend is completly rebuilt with drums, shoes, hardware, seals, bearings, and wheel cylinders. This came out of a 1989 Grand Marquis with the 8.8 carrier. The gear is a 276 and it is a open rearend. The rear suspension is leaf springs with new bushings and 2 link bars to stop the axle wrap. The front is the 4 1/2'' Speedway drop axle with monoleaf and radius arms. I did the new spindles and Speedway disc brake conversion. There is a new Corvette master cylinder mounted under the floor for the manual brakes. The engine is solid mount and the frame is boxed from front to rear. All steering bars run Air craft style heim joints and work great. For the most part the wiring and brake lines all run inside the frame so it has that clean look. To finish it off the chassis was painted in gloss black Fleet coating to protect and hold up. This makes it very easy to clean.

EXTERIOR:

1940 cab and door that open and close with the handles inside and out. The box sides where shortened to 5', and the box is bolted to the frame in four spots as well as the cab has four mounts to the frame. The grill is from a 1938 ford truck. The firewall is covered in aluminum and has that brushed aluminum look. Same with the the seam for the two windshields where they come together. There is no tail gate just 14 gauge steel with 2 brakes in it to simulate one. 4'' Drop style mirrors on driver and passenger doors. One of the things that gets alot of attention is the headers. I stretched the headers 7'' and run them out by the door. The end of the headers have a cap on them but they are removable. With the caps on the exhaust runs under the cab and into 2 3/4'' dual exhaust into Flowmaster mufflers and dumps before the rearend. This has a very nice sound and is streetable. The exterior was painted in flat black enamel paint.

RIMS/TIRES:

Right now the truck has brand NEW coker Bias tires on it. I just put these rims and tires on this past weekend and have about 80 miles on these tires. The fronts are B.F. Goodrich Silvertown 5.00-15 with coker vintage 5x15 rims and the rears are Gum dipped Firestone Dragster 10.00-15. The rear rims are 15x10 coker with a 3'' back spacing. The chrome lug nuts are also new.

If you are interested in the truck WITHOUT the Wide white walls I will install the 17'' red rims pictured and will knock $1000 off the sale. I have about $1500 in the white walls but I can use them on the next truck.

As you can see from this truck there are a ton of new parts and alot of time invested. This is a great truck and like I said I built this truck to drive everywhere and thats what you can do. It runs 70-75 mph on the expressway and averages about 11 mpg. The truck is tuned right and runs incredible. The sound is very nice and the radio is really only needed if your by yourself and going a long distance. I drove the truck up North 3 hours each way this past weekend and it rode and drove awesome. I have two other trucks I'm building right now so I figured I would let this one go.

I have the truck for sale locally so I have the right to end the auction at any time do to a local sale.

Truck is being sold as-is.

This is a NO RESERVE auction. BID TO WIN.

There is a $1000 deposit threw paypal due within 24 hours of the auction ending and the truck will need to be paid for and picked up within 7 days of the auction ending.

180,000 new vehicles are sitting, derailed by lack of transport trains

Wed, 21 May 2014

If you're planning on buying a new car in the next month or so, you might want to pick from what's on the lot, because there could be a long wait for new vehicles from the factory. Locomotives continue to be in short supply in North America, and that's causing major delays for automakers trying to move assembled cars.
According to The Detroit News, there are about 180,000 new vehicles waiting to be transported by rail in North America at the moment. In a normal year, it would be about 69,000. The complications have been industry-wide. Toyota, General Motors, Honda and Ford all reported experiencing some delays, and Chrysler recently had hundreds of minivans sitting on the Detroit waterfront waiting to be shipped out.
The problem is twofold for automakers. First, the fracking boom in the Bakken oil field in the Plains and Canada is monopolizing many locomotives. Second, the long, harsh winter is still causing major delays in freight train travel. The bad weather forced trains to slow down and carry less weight, which caused a backup of goods to transport. The auto companies resorted to moving some vehicles by truck, which was a less efficient but necessary option.

Former Ford president, Jaguar chairman Nick Scheele dead at 70

Sun, 20 Jul 2014

We have the privilege here at Autoblog of reporting a lot of good news, but it is our duty as well to report the bad news and sad news as well. And this is one of those occasions as the automotive industry mourns the passing of one of its leaders.
Nick Scheele was born in the UK in 1944 and joined the Ford Motor Company upon graduating from the University of Durham in 1966, staying within the Blue Oval's portfolio for the entirety of his career. After moving to North America in 1978, he rose through the ranks to become president of Ford's Mexican operations in 1988. After acquiring Jaguar, Ford appointed Scheele as its chairman.
Scheele subsequently acted as chairman of all of Ford's European operations, making difficult decisions to take the division out of the red and into the black. He briefly headed up Ford's North American division before he was appointed in 2001 as president and chief operating officer of the global automaker, working under CEO Bill Ford following the departure of Jacques Nasser departure and retaining the role until his retirement in 2005.

2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?
