Trusty farm truck for sale: This pickup belonged to an engine builder in Grass Valley California. His personal rig. He rebuilt the engine/transmission/clutch and then fell ill which forced sale to the old fellow I purchased it from in Live Oak California. He rebuilt the brakes/steering/kingpins and installed a new Drake tank as well as went through the cooling system. He owned it "Since the sixties", never registered it and only drove it around on his property. I have owned it for three years and used it to move plants and material around at my nursery. I sneak it out on the road from time to time but have driven it perhaps two hundred miles. I only keep a gallon or two of fuel in it so its fresh. Exterior is in primer and interior is original black. I replaced the grill with new Drake unit and replaced all fluids and installed a new coil. It runs fantastic. Drives great. Breaks work perfect. Transmission and Clutch shift buttery smooth and solid.  The body has usual dings and dents but is solid and shows little but surface rust. The floor has been replaced. Hood is from a '41 and has louvers punched. Seat has been redone in green. Bed floor has been removed and replaced with plywood. Tailgate hinges are rusty. Rust at drivers door bottom and a little on passenger as well.Top rust is only thin surface.  It is wired to run but that's it. Wood under cab needs replacing to correct stance. Rear bumper is not original. Hood latch is not functional. Lever shocks switched out at some point. I do not know about condition of gauges or lights. Included with sale is brand new set of glass for doors and windshield. Also new set of tail lights. Also included is correct vintage hood latch for forty including "V8" emblems. The truck always starts and runs perfect. It has been my most reliable piece of equipment since I acquired it. I have no paperwork to prove the rebuild, just what I was told by previous owner and the way it runs.  I do not have title only Bill of Sale.

NHTSA investigating Ford's solution to May 2014 power steering recall

Tue, Apr 7 2015

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating a complaint that Ford's response to a May 2014 recall of the 2008 to 2011 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner doesn't quite go far enough to solve a troubling power-steering problem. Roughly a year ago, Ford recalled nearly a million vehicles after it was found that a problem with the torque sensor's communication with the power steering control module could cut steering assistance for drivers. While manual steering would still be available, the problem was enough to ask drivers to report in to have the PSCM inspected, and if necessary, replaced (along with the torque sensor, or in dramatic cases, the entire steering column). That would only happen, though, if trouble codes were being thrown. If there weren't any problems, dealers were told to simply update the PSCM's software so that any issues between it and the torque sensor would simply throw a visual and audio warning – power steering would still be maintained. The petitioner claimed that following the recall work, he still experienced a problem with the torque sensor. According to NHTSA, a claim was made that Ford didn't go far enough in its solution to the problem, and that "the software update itself may in fact cause further issues with the affected vehicle's power steering, causing it to fail, and ultimately requiring replacement of the torque sensor or entire steering column." The petition was filed in early February and is now officially being looked into by NHTSA.

This unique '64 Mustang was Edsel Ford II's first car

Thu, 02 Jan 2014

You probably had the same dream when you were a teenager. Your sixteenth birthday is coming up, or Christmas, or maybe both, and all you want is a muscle car to call your own. That dream has come true for some, and one of them was none other than Edsel Ford II.
Henry Ford's great grandson turned 16 on December 27, 1964 - two days after Christmas and eight months after the original Mustang went on sale. And that's just what was waiting for him in the driveway, courtesy of his father (and reigning chief executive) Henry Ford II.
The specially-prepared pony car had a pearlescent cream paintjob with narrow blue racing stripes, functional hood scoop, chrome trim, Euro-spec fender-mounted mirrors, a blue leather and aluminum interior, a monogrammed fuel cap... and a 289-cubic-inch V8 under the hood.

Next Ford Mustang to drop 400 pounds

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

The Ford Mustang is already the lightest of the current crop of muscle cars, at around 3,600 pounds for a GT coupe with the six-speed manual transmission. That's almost 260 pounds less than a Chevrolet Camaro SS and about 450 pounds less than a Dodge Challenger R/T, which means the Mustang has a pretty big advantage when it comes to handling, braking, accelerating and economy. More good news: The next Mustang will be even lighter.
According to a report from Edmunds, the sixth-generation Mustang, which is set to debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show, will shed an additional 400 pounds of body fat. That 11-percent weight reduction will be thanks to lightweight materials, with a particular focus on using stronger, but less material in construction. Aluminum will feature heavily, but Edmunds' inside source warns that there is "nothing terribly exotic" coming to the original pony car.
The other big news is that the new Mustang will be smaller overall. It's going to be 15-inches shorter than the 188.5-inch Mustang on sale today, while it'll also be 6.5 inches narrower. Shorter overhangs, both in the front and rear, are also good signs for those that want an agile Mustang.
