1938 Ford Truck
NO RESERVE

Great old truck to Restore or Rat Rod
period correct tow arm, the V8 flat head motor spins but I have not tried to start it (a little work and it might run, if they spin the usually will), 4 speed shifts through a couple gears but I don't know the tranny's condition, comes with extra running boards, fenders, lights and hood (as pictured). Glass needs replaced as it is broken or missing, interior is as a truck of this age left to the weather would be (as pictured), bed needs floor wood replaced, but treated old side wood did its job well and is still pretty in good condition, with nice looking surface weathering. From estate of deceased so we have the clear title, we are just in the process of getting it signed by the family. The truck rolls but needs tires has all 4 of the rare 17.5 inch original wheels ( fronts presently removed and have some fabricated wheels and tires mounted that hold air for rollers), desirable rare original Factory Ford embossed Flat bed, awesome patina.

Just a great old 1938 Ford tow truck to Restore, Rat Rod, get running and drive the old patina as is, or even just place in front of your business as an eye catcher!
This is a no reserve auction but if for some odd reason bidding does not reach 2500 the tow arm does not go with it, again the tow arm is not included until bidding reaches 2500.
I'm sure that will happen, as just normal 1938 trucks are bringing 4000, but I'm going to throw out that as safety net.

I'm reasonable, so I will work with any buyer on storage until shipping is arranged, and can help where I can, I have a winch system for loading on car haulers, and can assist in getting tires on it for making it roll easy. I know a lot of that depends on the actual driver so I try to be flexible.

I can also be available for hire to deliver to reasonable distances.

Car and Driver shows off awesome 1960s ads

Fri, Sep 11 2015

Someone must have recently rediscovered the keys to the archives at Car and Driver, and the access has been put to good use. Following last month's fantastic look at automotive ads from the '50s, there's now a new gallery running from March 1960 through December 1969. This collection provides a great overview of a decade full of iconic cars. If you're a fan of Carroll Shelby, particularly his Mustangs, then there's a lot to love among this group. One ad from July 1965 aimed to sell the GT350, but with an ocean of text and a tiny picture, it probably could've used a once-over by Don Draper's team. By December '65, the copywriters ironed out the problems with a spot proclaiming boldly "Shelby GT350 is 'Son of Cobra.'" The company offered some great accessories, too. For those into European motoring, there's a humorous attempt to sell the Alfa Romeo Giulia as both a racecar and family hauler. Toyota also boasts about the winning record for the 2000GT. Among the best text comes from BMW for lines like: "What's BMW got? The most advanced high-performance engine in any production car, for a cruising speed of 100 mph." Of course, Volkswagen's famous "Lemon" ad for the Beetle also gets its due here. Separately, each of these ads is fascinating, but taken together they tell the story of a great decade of motoring. Go give them all a read at Car and Driver. Shelby GT500 and Roush Stage 3 go head to head at the drag strip

Wed, 07 Aug 2013

The Ford Mustang is a brilliantly affordable source of horsepower, with a base 300-plus-horsepower version available for well under $30,000. Jumping up to about $35,000 will get you a solid 420 horsepower from a high-revving V8, while those with some extra disposable income can get a pair of 600-plus-horsepower monsters. Both the Roush Stage 3 with its Phase 3 package and Ford's factory Shelby GT500 even crest the 650-horsepower mark, with 675 and 662 ponies, respectively.
Naturally, someone needed to find out which of these hi-po Mustangs was the quickest. And while this video is quite obviously a dealership commercial, at least there's some solid drag racing between two of the most powerful performance machines available for under $100,000.
With two NHRA drag racers at the wheel, the Stage 3 and GT500 go head to head for three races. Scroll down below to see the results in the full video.

GM readying aluminum-body fullsize pickups

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Ford's extensive use of aluminum in its 2015 F-150 is a big deal. A really big deal. Big enough, in fact, that General Motors is reportedly changing its fullsize pickup strategy. According to The Wall Street Journal, The General has locked in partnerships with Alcoa Inc. and Novelis Inc. - companies that will supply aluminum for the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.
"Ford's introduction of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck was a game changer, and it's the first, not the last, conversion of this type," Novelis spokesperson Charles Belbin told the Journal. The switch to aluminum has allowed Ford to shave roughly 700 pounds off its fullsize truck's curb weight. And while official mileage ratings have not been announced, the weight loss should go a long way for improving efficiency, especially when combined other efficiency-minded improvements including better aerodynamics and new, turbocharged V6 engines.
Of course, aluminum-bodied cars are nothing new. But extensive use of aluminum in a major, best-selling product like the Ford F-150 is expected to kick off widespread use of this weight-saving material as availability rises and cost decreases. The WSJ reports that GM had originally explored the idea of moving to aluminum pickups back in 2008, but abandoned the idea due to cost concerns amid economic woes.
