For sale is a 1938 Ford Pickup. This is the 1/2 ton model. The truck has a 1950 Ford flathead V8 (the 100 HP model) engine with a 1936 Ford manual trans. This was the only engine and tranny I had available at the time and I needed the truck running so I could move it around as needed for space reasons. Ive owened the truck for about a year and a half. The clutch was not the right one as it was also from another year but the truck drove around just fine otherwise. The truck was running and driving up to a month ago. I parked it for about three weeks and left the brake light on. I cant get the truck to start now. The ignition wont crank over. Im not sure whats wrong. I charged the battery which had died on me but I think the voltage regulator or a fuse went out. I already replced the starter solenoid so I know that's not it. I just bought a replacement voltage regulator from eBay which will be included. Also included is the correct clutch, brand new with all the hardware needed and even a clutch centering tool. Also a correct fit oil pan for the engine with a new oil pan gasket. The pan on there now doesnt quite fit properly because its also from another year. But everything, once replaced, would make for a nice weekend cruiser.

I drove every weekend around town until I got busy with other projects. The truck also has the original rims and rear end. The mechanical brakes work great. Cab and hood metal is pretty good. Rest of the truck, bed and fenders, are ok. One fender was pretty bad so I replaced it with a fiberglass one but I will include the oriinal steel one in case you want to have it repaired. Also the head panel of the bed was pretty bad also so I have a replacement steel panel also included. It is unpainted. I will include the original head panel too if wanted. This is a pretty god rat rod as is and could be a good project for a hot rod if someone wanted to do that. Its uncut and other then the engine and tranny and passenger side rear fender unmolested. It just needs a few parts swapped and it will be a great weekend truck.

The rear bumper and bumper brackets are also included. I may even install the bumper this weekend.

The truck is also currently registered and insured and has a Clean California title in my name. This specific truck was appraised by Hagerty Classic Car insurance at $5000.

I was going to list this truck for $5000 and I think I it was worth it but since its not running right now and I don't have time to get it going Im only asking for $4000.

I'm open to offers. Obviously $4000 is what I feel the truck is worth, but if you feel differently then make an offer for what you can afford.

Ford names Lincoln chief as North American president following Nair's departure

Thu, Feb 22 2018

Ford announced yesterday that its North American president Raj Nair would no longer be working for the company due to "inappropriate behavior." As a result, the company needed fill that gaping vacancy. The new North American president and Ford Group vice president will be Kumar Galhotra, and his term in the new role will start on March 1. Galhotra will remain the group vice president and chief marketing officer for Lincoln through March, meaning he's the head of the luxury brand. He's had this position since 2014. Before that, he was vice president of engineering for all of Ford. With Galhotra's promotion, a number of internal promotions follow. Joy Falotico, current chairman, CEO and group vice president of Ford's credit division will fill Galhotra's position, and Dave McClelland, vice president of marketing for Ford Asia Pacific, will fill her role. Other shuffling at Ford includes Stewart Rawley's promotion to vice president for Ford North America and chief operating officer. He is the current vice president for strategy at Ford. Ford China's chairman and CEO John Lawler will take Rawley's old role, and Cathy O'Callaghan will take over Lawler's job at Ford China, but not until June 1. O'Callaghan is currently vice president, corporate controller and chief financial officer for global markets at Ford. Related Video:

Porsche 911 tops a list of must-have classics, but No. 2 is more of a surprise

Wed, Aug 9 2023

No surprise here: In Europe, the Porsche 911 is the most sought-after classic car. Surprise here: Slip-streaming the 911 in the most sought-after chart compiled by the Car & Classic marketplace is the Ford Mustang. Using the Google search engine as a means to pick the winners, as well as the average prices achieved on the “Car and Classic” website, the venerable 911 was tagged 1.45 million times per month according to data stretching back 15 years. The number of 911Â’s sold though the C&C marketplace was 21,141, at an average price of 58,409 pounds, or $74,300. FordÂ’s pony car, still a popular choice for buyers in Europe, placed second on the list with 1.2 million monthly searches. The average sales price over 15 years was 31,107 pounds ($39,570), and the number of older Mustangs sold reached a total of 8,332. Models that also finished among the charted top 10 include the Land Rover Range Rover, the Corvette, the ultra-classic British favorite Jaguar E-Type and the BMW 3 Series. “Whilst a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS could set you back the best part of GBP500,000 ($636,000), there are many more affordable models, which bring the average sale price of a 911 on Car & Classic to GBP58,000 ($73,800) – the third highest average selling price of any make and model on the site,” explained Dale Vinten of Car & Classic. According to the site, the Jaguar fetched the highest average selling price: a whopping 89,000 pounds, or $113,000. But thatÂ’s peanuts compared to a Series 1 Roadster in excellent condition, said Vinten. For that, “you can expect to spend up to GBP250,000 ($318,000), A Series 2 or 3 will cost less, as they are not as desirable, but in decent condition you can expect to pay around GBP40,000-GBP50,000. Even a barn find 1969 E-Type Series 2 Roadster can set you back to the tune of GBP33,000 ($42,000)." Launched in 2005, Car & Classic is among EuropeÂ’s most popular classic car clearinghouses. It also runs a stand-alone auction site.

Total auto recalls already on record pace in 2014

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

If you've noticed that there have been more recalls than usual this year, you may be on to something. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the US market is on pace to break a record for recalls. In 2013, 22 million cars were recalled. We're only a third of the way through 2014, though, and we've already halved that figure, with 11 million units recalled. That's wild.
Considering the past few months, it shouldn't be a surprise that General Motors is leading the charge, with six million of the 11 million units recalled coming from one of the General's four brands. Between truck recalls, CUV recalls and the ignition switch recall, 2014 hasn't been a great year for GM.
Other recall leaders include Nissan (one million Sentra and Altima sedans), Honda (900,000 Odyssey minivans), Toyota (over one million units in a few recalls), Volkswagen (150,000 Passat sedans), Chrysler (644,000 Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs) and most recently, Ford (434,000 units, the bulk of which were early Ford Escape CUVs). So while it's been a bad year for GM so far, its competitors aren't doing too well, either.
