1937 Ford Farm Truck on 2040-cars
Apple Valley, California, United States
Had this in the back yard since 2008. Bill of sale only So, now I'm restarting business and need to buy some things and my credit is shot. Time to part with things that aren't doing me any good.
Has a 60 HP Flathead V8 that turns when you spin the crank nut and the spark plugs are removed. I could even see the valves move. Missing: Radiator and Grill, radiator tubes, carb, and many other parts. Has a front bumper, through-frame steering box, motor, manual trans with PTO to operate a water pump for the 400 gallon tank. I have the folding hood, though it's missing 3 or 4 louvers. Probably better yard art than a project, but the flathead is worth taking a look at. I am located about 100 miles from Los Angeles and Long Beach, so if you're an overseas buyer it wouldn't take much to get it to port. I would like a $400 deposit within 3 days of auction end, and the rest cash on pick up, or US Postal Money Orders that I can cash at the local post office. If you wish to inspect prior to picking up, I'm available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you bid and are unhappy with the condition, I will refund your money on arrival, but not after you take possession. |

Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues
Fri, 26 Sep 2014Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.
2013 Ford Explorer Sport
Thu, 04 Apr 2013When one speaks of sporty and fun-to-drive utility vehicles, few would put the Ford Explorer in the same category as the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne. Yet, with just a few reservations, I'd toss the new-for-2013 Ford Explorer Sport close to that arena for consideration.
As a recap, the sportiest of Explorers is fitted with Ford's twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6, making 365 horsepower and 350 pound feet of torque. Acceleration is brisk (figure about 7 seconds to 60 miles per hour), as power goes to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Contributing to its more athletic demeanor are larger front brakes, a sport-tuned suspension, chassis upgrades, quicker steering ratio and a more aggressive wheel/tire package. Cosmetically, the Sport is distinguished by its blacked-out lights, black trim and noticeable lack of chrome (with the exception of the door handles).
Ford recently handed me the keys to a Ruby Red Metallic Explorer Sport. Rather than mindlessly drive the big seven-passenger all-wheel drive hauler in soccer mom circles around Los Angeles, I loaded up my family and embarked on a long weekend road trip to Yosemite National Park.
