1931 Ford Pickup on 2040-cars

US $21,500.00
Year:1931 Mileage:8560
Location:

Roanoke, Virginia, United States

Selling my 1931 Ford Pickup. Truck was built during the mid 1990's but only been driven 8560 mile, at this time.

The Cab & hood are 1931. The fenders/ running boards are fiberglass. The truck bed is aftermarket with oak floor, fuel cell is mounted under the bed and gas filler neck is mounted in the floor. There is no rust on the vehicle and I would say the paint is in very good condition. There are no cracks in the fiberglass.

Engine is a 327 Chevrolet, 350 HP. Has a mild Crane cam and Mallory ignition. Motor carries great oil pressure and water temp runs between 180/200 and temp is controlled via an electric fan.

Transmission is a Turbo 400 with a cooler installed.

Gauges/ instruments are VDO, heritage gold cockpit night design. All gauges are working correctly. Because I disconnect the battery the clock does not display the correct time but it works and will keep accurate time.

Truck has Vintage Air mini space saver heat/cool. Just installed a new compressor and dryer but system needs a new evaporator. The evaporator is installed under the bed and has an electric fan mounted over it to provide air flow through the fins. At present the fan is not working and I am unable to get under the truck to work on it. Plus I don't use the A/C. The only other item that does not work is the windshield wiper. I've never driven truck in rain and don't know why or when it quit working. Only reason I checked it was to provide info in this listing.

Truck has AM/FM/Cd player installed and working. Not installed but included is  a 7 inch GPS system and a backup camera. All the wiring is included

Equipped with Goodyear Eagle tires mounted on Center Line wheels. Front tires are 195/60R15 with 8/32 tread, rear tire are 275/60R15 with 8/32 tread, almost new tires. Truck has front disc brakes and drum brakes on rear.

Truck runs great with no know problems other than those stated, but due to the age of the truck there is no warranty. I would strongly suggest you go through Ebay motors and order an inspection. If you buy my truck I will reimburse you the cost of the inspection as long as the cost is reasonable, not $300.00 or $400.00 dollars Etc.

Lastly, if you are a very large person I would suggest you not buy this truck, the cab has not been altered and becomes quite cramped on long drives.

Any questions, please ask. I can assist with a shipper if needed.

I will accept Cash or certified check. And due to the nature of some people payment MUST clear my bank before the truck leaves my possession . Again there is no warranty or guarantee on this 83 year old truck.

Ford, Volvo, Google, Uber and Lyft form self-driving alliance

Tue, Apr 26 2016

Five companies arguably leading the worldwide effort to develop autonomous cars said Tuesday they're forming an organization to lobby the federal government to better prepare America's roads for self-driving technology. The founding members include some of the biggest companies in the automotive, autonomous, and ride-sharing realms – Ford, Google, Lyft, Uber and Volvo. Operating as the "Self-Driving Coalition for Safer Streets," they aim to work with lawmakers and regulators to clarify a disparate set of rules and regulations at both the state and federal levels that could hinder the deployment of autonomous cars. "The U.S. risks losing its leading position due to the lack of federal guidelines for the testing and certification of autonomous vehicles." – Hakan Samuelsson David Strickland, a former administrator of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration who issued the first set of autonomous-related policies in that role (pictured below), will serve as the group's counsel and spokesperson. "The best path for this innovation is to have one clear set of federal standards, and the Coalition will work with policymakers to find the right solutions that will facilitate the deployment of self-driving vehicles," he said in a written statement. In January, Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said his department would accelerate efforts to craft such federal standards. Those efforts include holding two public hearings on standards, the second of which is scheduled to be held Wednesday in Palo Alto, California. Foxx signaled the intent to deliver them by June. Google has been leading the efforts to ensure such standards are national in scope, warning their cars could run afoul of state-specific laws should they cross state borders or if standards varies between the federal efforts and regional ones. The complexity of such efforts was underscored recently, when NHTSA agreed that Google's software could be considered the driver of a vehicle for the purpose of meeting federal motor vehicle standards, an interpretation that would conflict with preliminary California rules that mandate a licensed driver operate a self-driving car that comes equipped with human controls like a steering wheel and brakes. At South By Southwest last month, Jennifer Haroon, Google's self-driving car business leader, said the company couldn't accomplish its goals under those regulations.

Lincoln recycling tree fibers into new MKX armrest

Thu, Feb 27 2014

Want to hug a tree, or at least a really small part of one. Then set your arm down on one of those armrests in the 2014 Lincoln MKX crossover. The US automaker is working with Weyerhaeuser and Johnson Controls on a tree-based, cellulose-reinforced polypropylene material used in the component that connects the armrest to the floor console, Wards Auto says. With properties similar to plastic, the tree-based material replaces fiberglass and is about six percent lighter. No big deal for now, but if the material starts getting used for things like battery trays and interior storage covers, that loss in weight may eventually start adding up enough to boost fuel economy a bit, providing a green double bonus. Lincoln parent Ford, which isn't saying how much more (or less?) it costs to use the new material, established its Biomaterials and Plastics Research team in 2001. In 2007, the company began using soy-based foam in car seats used for models such as the Lincoln Navigator and Ford Mustang and has since broadened biomaterials use to components like floormats and cupholder inserts. Ford also used recycled plastic bottles from the 2012 North America International Auto Show for seats in the Focus Electric.

Ford, Renault, VW shareholder oppose French aid for PSA/Peugeot-Citro"en

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

Pots and kettles, glass houses and stones - that's a little of what we appear to have going on in the European car market. New reports say that that three European automakers have registered their opposition to a loan deal that PSA/Peugeot-Citroën is working on with the French government. Peugeot's finance arm, Banque PSA Finance, is struggling with its debts and has been downgraded by Moody's to its lowest investment-grade classification, one step above junk. This makes it more expensive for a potential buyer to finance a car through Peugeot. The last thing Peugeot needs is more difficulty selling cars in the tough European market, and the situation will only worsen if the bank's credit worthiness takes another hit.
A deal being worked on would have the French government offer €7 billion ($9B U.S.) in bonds to guarantee the bank's loans, which would give the institution some breathing room to manage its debts and lower its interest rates. Outside of that, a group of banks would provide other, non-guaranteed loans to the bank to further help its position. In exchange for state help, though, the government wants seats on Peugeot's board for worker representatives and a government liaison, along with factory and worker guarantees. The Peugeot family would maintain control of the company.
So what we have is government assistance being provided to a car company's finance arm, akin to the way General Motors' GMAC (now Ally Financial) and Chrysler Financial got help in their time of need. What we also have is Ford and Renault, and Germany's State of Lower Saxony, the second-largest shareholder in Volkswagen, voicing their concern about the proposal, because they say it could create an unfair competitive advantage for Peugeot. Everyone in Europe's down market is fighting for every sale, and if Peugeot gets help to keep its auto loan costs down, it figures to help buyers choose Peugeot or Citroën.
