All steel street rod with custom cab extension, fuel injected V8, auto trans, power steering, power brakes and cold air conditioning. The cab mod gives the interior much needed legroom and storage without looking too messed with, but still unique. The body mods were tastefully done and look factory. People comment on it all the time thinking it came from the factory this way and think it is just some super rare model. This is the way Ford should have built it. The truck is all steel including the running boards. The truck was meant to drive. Haul things in the back, step on the running board, you can use this one - it's a solid, tough old truck that is fun to drive. It's an older build with old paint. Paint shows some minor wear, fine scratches, rock chips etc but still has a deep shine and looks really good overall. Extra purple touch up paint comes with it if you should ever need it. Purple body with black fenders and custom pinstriping.
The truck was built using a 1986 Thunderbird donor car with approximately 47,000 miles. The motor is stock 5.0 fuel injected V8 (302 c.i. for old folks like me). Ford used this motor for years in the Thunderbird and Fox body Mustangs making it very easy and affordable to get parts for. Transmission is stock automatic with overdrive and it has power steering, and power brakes. Camaro front independent suspension with 10 bolt rear. It runs excellent and has plenty of power. The interior uses much of the stock Thunderbird components like digital dash, power bucket seats, radio, tilt steering column, floor shifter etc. 17" billet aluminum wheels and dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. It handles good and is actually pretty good on gas making it an excellent driver. Power seats, power windows, heat and air conditioning.

This is what a 3D-printed liquid metal Ford Torino looks like
Sat, 12 Oct 2013Artist Ioan Florea has encapsulated a 1971 Ford Torino with 3-D-printed liquid metal transferred onto the car using technology that he developed, and the result is a stunningly shiny, seamless design.
"The surface has the highest coefficient of reflectivity never achieved before," Florea told us in an e-mail, using "nano-materials and nano-pigments that create an internal three-dimensional structure and dictate the polymer how to behave." Sure... We'll leave it to him to make any more 3-D-printed liquid metal-transferred art pieces.
Florea grew up in Romania, and the motivation behind picking the old Ford as his canvas came from his childhood memories of what an American car is - "big and wide and fascinating," he says - and the European name of the car itself, which it shares with an Italian city.
Which car companies are creating new jobs in America?
Fri, Sep 22 2017Since January, automakers have announced investments totaling $9.5 billion in U.S. plants, creating or retaining more than 12,000 jobs. Some of those companies have yet to announce just how many jobs will be created given their investments, with the location of many of those jobs still to be determined. Specifically, the 4,000-job Toyota-Mazda joint venture plant still hasn't announced its location, with numerous states jockeying for it. Hyundai has plans to invest $1 billion but has not announced a jobs number yet. And likewise Ford is investing $1.2 billion in Michigan without specifying a number of jobs. Volvo this week announced plans to add a second line to its factory under construction in South Carolina, spending another $500 million and adding 2,500 jobs to the 2,000 it was already trying to fill. Then Thursday, Daimler announced a $1 billion expansion to its facility in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to produce EV batteries and electric SUVs, a move that will add 600 jobs to its hiring this year. Above, we've created a handy pie chart showing you which companies have announced new jobs and how many there will be. NHTSA closes Ford F-Series Super Duty steering probe without recall
Wed, 05 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's investigation into 2008 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty pickups, which was originally opened last year, has now ended without a recall. NHTSA was looking into steering failures on some 336,000 trucks.
The issue rested with the steering gear - NHTSA received five complaints of failures - which was redesigned in 2005. According to the report on the matter, investigators "found evidence of broken sector shaft gear teeth and piston damage consistent with incidents of single event overload."
NHTSA investigators, however, "found no evidence of fatigue or material property defects in any of the fractures. Analysis of complaint rates by vehicle build month showed no patterns indicating potential manufacturing quality issues and no difference before and after Ford introduced design changes to the input shaft and sector shaft seals in July 2007 to address potential leak concerns," according to the report, obtained by The Detroit News.
