Very Nice 1998 Ford Mustang Gt 4.7l Convertible on 2040-cars
Montrose, Michigan, United States
I have a 1998 Ford Mustang GT Convertible for sale. It does need some cosmetic work-to get rid of some scratches and dings and a new clear coat. It has good tires about 65% tread life left. It has a white convertible top that will need to be replaced due to hole in rear window area. the seats and some tears but not real major issue but will need some work later. I had the estimate to get body work, paint and new top with install came in around $2,000. The car already is a head turner due to clear and graphics on it.
The engine is strong and very responsive with gas pedal and rides very well down road. You may need to get an alignment as well as a tune up as did not drive car for 18 months. This car has not seen winters and was stored during winter. Everything else in car works and no damage or anything else that I know of that would harm performance. It had brakes redone in 2011. With the work that has been done on this car already and purchase of it, we spent almost $9500 for it. if you fix the issues you could easily make this car worth a lot of money again and is possible with the low buy it now or best offer option. A new battery was installed 8/2014. The vehicle is also for sale locally so this auction could end at anytime due to this. You could buy car and drive it home with no problems that I would be aware of. This car is a head turner as it is aloha blue with airplane wing type graphic design. Tires are pro stock as well as exhaust. It makes this car growl and purr with exhaust. The idle is good on car. Brakes are good. The cold box cooling system is very responsive to keep engine cool and pull cold air in. The glass on car is good with a couple dings but no cracks or major issues except for rear window on convertible top is torn away from top. But you can get new top for around $450.00. We are selling car to help get bills caught up as I am a disabled veteran with limited income and can not afford this car anymore and it deserves a nice home. The car is being sold "As Is" with no warranty. Everything has been described as well as possible. Please do not waste my time with worthless low ball OBO offers. I am not interested in trades. If you have negative feedback or other issues please do not contact me and or bid on this car, as it costs money to list this car. I am asking $3200 OBO. |

2016 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is ready to tackle Chicago's mean streets
Wed, Feb 11 2015As is the way of things, when a civilian vehicle gets a significant update, it's only a matter of time before its police counterpart gets similar upgrades. In the case of the Ford Police Interceptor Utility, it's debuting with the same visual updates as the Explorer on which it's based, at this week's 2015 Chicago Auto Show. Like the civilian-market Explorer, the PI Utility is available with a standard 3.7-liter V6 that pumps out 304 horsepower and 279 pound-feet of torque. The higher-caliber option is the tried and true 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, complete with 365 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. The standard Explorer's optional 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder, meanwhile, won't be offered to the boys in blue. Regardless of engine, the Utility enjoys standard all-wheel-drive, as well as a six-speed automatic transmission. The tranny's default setting is primarily for fuel sipping, although if it detects more aggressive inputs – based on brake line pressure, deceleration and lateral acceleration rates – it switches over to Pursuit Mode, offering officers snappier upshifts and more aggressive downshifts. The PI Utility's other cool, new system is called Surveillance Mode. To protect officers from sneak attacks, Surveillance Mode warns them when someone approaches the rear the car, raising all four windows and locking the doors. While Ford says the system has "intermittent fault filter technology" to prevent "erroneous changes in sensor signals," we're betting it won't be long before veteran officers uncover some way to prank rookies with the tech. Beyond these new systems, this is the same Utility that officers know and love, only with a significant facelift reminiscent of what's found on the civilian model, which debuted at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. The new grille has a positive impact on cooling performance, Ford claims, while a new headlight setup accommodates the high-beam-based "wig-wag" lights. The new look has also allowed Ford to offer police departments additional customized lighting options, for that special touch. Inside, a new steering wheel and center console should make officers' lives easier, as will the new (and requested) liftgate release button, found in the overhead console. Check out the first images of the new Police Interceptor Utility (and, sporty drivers, memorize that headlight pattern) up above. Be sure to check back for additional live images once we check out Ford's latest cop car, at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show.
VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.
Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.
