This stunning limited edition 2007 SHELBY HERTZ convertible awaits you in Sunny So Cal! Have fun and turn heads in this gorgeous black and gold Shelby Hertz. This RARE LOW, LOW MILEAGE car has never been hit and has no dents or dings.
The cloth convertible top is in perfect condition. We have the matching cloth boot, which many of these cars do not have. The interior is in perfect condition. The exterior paint has a few tiny chips on the door edges from its rental days, but NO dents or dings.
As you can see, the car has been signed by Carroll himself! Well, not really. We did add vinyl decal reproductions of Carroll Shelby's signature in the correct metallic GOLD color on each side of the car before the last show the car appeared in. :) Our plan was to remove them after the show, but since they are so eye-catching, we decided to leave them on for a while. The vinyl decals will peel right off if you don't want them, and we will remove them for you in that case.
Everything on this car works!! We replaced the tires with the exact factory ones about 2 years ago, so they have very low mileage on them. We have all the service records and the original rental keys with the Hertz key tags, convertible top boot cover, original dash ID tag, some Hertz items (cup, note pad, etc.). My husband bought me this car because I'd undergone some major surgery and he wanted me to have some fun. FUN INDEED! I LOVE driving this car and it gets so much attention everywhere I go in it. However, I am not a very aggressive driver, so the car has been treated gently...I have never abused it and have not driven it "hard". The stripes are currently in need of replacing, which in our experience needs to be done every 2-3 years. If we don't sell the car, we will likely have the stripes painted this time around so that they never need replacing again.
We participate as a family in So. Cal Mustang and Shelby car shows and this beautiful unique car has won many trophies, which you will receive with your purchase.
ALSO, and this is a BIG ALSO.......I have a Carroll Shelby autographed airbag cover--the correct factory airbag cover for this car!!!!! It has never been installed on any car, but now that Carroll is no longer with us, this makes this goodie a fantastic opportunity to have his autograph on the dash of your 2007 Shelby Hertz, which will make the car even more of a rarity! If you want this item, you will have first dibs on it for an additional $850.00 at the end of the auction. Otherwise, it will be listed on eBay after the car is sold.
I have some other rare goodies, like a vintage Hertz garment back in black with gold stripes to match the car, gold Hertz polo shirts, a matching baseball cap, posters, magazine ads, Hot Wheels.....the buyer of this car will have first notice about auctions on these extra items that I will be listing on eBay when the car is sold. Or.....you can make me an offer. :)
This gorgeous Shelby GT-H can be inspected by appointment here in Torrance, California. I will be happy to email additional photos upon request.
Buyer is responsible for arranging pick up and all transportation fees. A $2000 deposit is required within 48 hours of the end of the auction, which you may pay via Paypal. Balance to be paid within 30 days of the close of auction by either cashier's check or in person at a local (Torrance area) branch of your bank. If you pay by cashier's check, the check must clear before we can arrange shipment of the car. The car will continue to be stored in our garage for up to 30 days.

2013 Shelby 1000 unleashes its 1,200 horsepower ahead of NY show reveal
Fri, 22 Mar 2013True story: Last fall, I had the opportunity to spend a week with Ford's new 2013 Shelby GT500 - the Blue Oval's factory Mustang with 662 horsepower and 631 pound-feet of torque. It's an amazing beast, to be sure. I'm not sure if it was Michigan's damp streets strewn with potholes and wet leaves, but at no point did I ever say to myself, "You know, Ford is on to a really good thing here, but what it really needs is about twice the power." And yet, for people in warmer climes with infrastructure in better nick - or for those whose muscle cars live their lives out on the track, there's apparently sufficient demand to warrant just such a beast.
Quick studies will recall that Shelby American launched its 1000 last year to commemorate its 50th anniversary, but it is returning to the New York Auto Show with a fresh version based on the 2013 GT500 I drove. The 2013 Shelby 1000 whips up 1,200 horsepower on pump gas thanks to beefed-up forced induction, engine internals and cooling. Wisely, it also incorporates an adjustable suspension and big brake package to make sure those ponies have the best chance being safely deployed to the ground.
What price the world's most powerful "production" muscle car? $154,995 for starters - donor GT500 not included. What, no convertible variant?
Why the Detroit Three should merge their engine operations
Tue, Dec 22 2015GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne would love to see his company merge with General Motors. But GM's board of directors essentially told him to go pound sand. So now what? The boardroom battle started when Mr. Marchionne published a study called Confessions of a Capital Junkie. In it, Sergio detailed the amount of capital the auto industry wastes every year with duplicate investments. And he documented how other industries provide superior returns. He's right, of course. Other industries earn much better returns on their invested capital. And there's a danger that one day the investors will turn their backs on the auto industry and look to other business sectors where they can make more money. But even with powerful arguments Marchionne couldn't convince GM to take over FCA. And while that fight may now be over, GM and FCA should consider a smaller merger that could still save them billions of dollars, and maybe lure Ford into the deal. No doubt this suggestion will send purists into convulsions, but so be it. The Detroit Three should seriously consider merging their powertrain operations, even though that's a sacrilege in an industry that still considers the engine the "heart" of the car. These automakers have built up considerable brand equity in some of their engines. But the vast majority of American car buyers could not tell you what kind of engine they have under the hood. More importantly, most car buyers really don't care what kind of engine or transmission they have as long as it's reliable, durable, and efficient. Combining that production would give the Detroit Three the kind of scale that no one else could match. There are exceptions, of course. Hardcore enthusiasts care deeply about the powertrains in their cars. So do most diesel, plug-in, and hybrid owners. But all of them account for maybe 15 percent of the car-buying public. So that means about 85 percent of car buyers don't care where their engine and transmission came from, just as they don't know or care who supplied the steel, who made the headlamps, or who delivered the seats on a just-in-time basis. It's immaterial to them. And that presents the automakers with an opportunity to achieve a staggering level of manufacturing scale. In the NAFTA market alone, GM, Ford, and FCA will build nearly nine million engines and nine million transmissions this year.
'Car Wars' says Ford, Honda to pick up share, Fiat-Chrysler ambitions downplayed
Sat, 14 Jun 2014Don't look for a tremendous shifts in automotive market share over the next three years because it might not be coming. That's at least according to the annual Car Wars report by John Murphy, from Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Research.
In the report's analysis of automakers' market share from 2013 to 2017, it predicts only small changes among the major companies. Ford and Honda see the biggest positive effect with an estimated 0.5 percent increase in their shares over the next three years; to 16.2 percent and 10.3 percent respectively. On the flip side, European automakers and Nissan are expected to lose 0.2 percent each to fall to 8.3 percent and 7.8 percent each respectively. The rest of the industry is predicted to hold steady as it is now.
The biggest loser in that prediction might be Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles. The report certainly throws a wet blanket on its plan for significant gains in market share. Murphy told The Detroit News that the company's goal was "almost unattainable."
