Up for auction is a beautiful 92 Mustang GT. I just bought this car from the second owner who purchased the car in 2004. This Mustang has been meticulously maintained and garaged all of its life. I was told that the car is still in the original paint and from what I can tell, it is. It shines very well but as expected from a 23 year old car, there are some minor imperfections. Every body panel still has the matching vin and all of the trim, upholstery, etc are all in great condition. Mechanically the car is second to none, it is exceptionally tight feeling and it drives as smooth as silk. The engine does not smoke or drip a drop of anything. Same goes for the trans and driveline, smooth and no leaks or noises. Everything works on this car: cruise, heat, cold AC, wipers, windows, locks, power hatch release, lights and the original radio sounds great as well. Also included is a massive folder full of receipts and documentation that reflects the relentless attention to detail and maintenance throughout the years. The car does have a BBK H-pipe and flowmaster mufflers, everything else is bone stock. It has a nearly new interstate battery and a set of great Michelin tires. I wouldn't hesitate to take this car across the country. It's getting harder to find one of these foxbody cars in such nice, original condition. With all this said, I will listen to solid cash offers but I am in no need to sell. As for trades, I would be interested in a more modded foxbody or any other fast street cars. As mentioned above, this car is very nice for its age but it is 23 years old so it is not showroom perfect. VW going turbo-only in 3 to 4 years
Wed, 18 Sep 2013This really was a matter of when, rather than if. Volkswagen will apparently be the first manufacturer to phase out naturally aspirated engines in favor of turbocharging its full slate. VW is kind of responsible for ushering in this push towards small-displacement, turbocharged engines that's taken the industry by storm. When it dropped its direct-injection, 2.0-liter turbo in the 2005 GTI it demonstrated that strapping an iron long to an engine can enhance the powertrain as a whole. VW made fuel economy gains, while also giving a linear, non-laggy turbo experience that it has replicated, model-after-model, to this day.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Volkswagen's executive Vice President of Group Quality, Marc Trahan, told the paper that, "We only have one normally aspirated gas engine, and when we go to the next generation vehicle that it's in, it will be replaced. So three, four years maximum."
Really, it's hard to get teary-eyed about either of these engines going away. VW has access to smaller powerplants that could easily match the performance of the 2.5 five-cylinder and the 3.6 V6, while gobbling up less fuel and providing a better driving experience. What we are sad about is that a similar statement about the extinction of NA engines came from the Vice President of Powertrain Engineering at Ford, Joe Bakaj. We'd certainly get teary-eyed over a world without Ford's excellent 5.0-liter V8.

These cars are headed to the Great Crusher In The Sky
Fri, 24 Aug 2012It happens every year. We bid adieu to some cars and trucks that will be missed, and say good riddance to others wondering how they stayed around so long. Whether they're being killed off for slow sales or due to a new product coming along to replace them, the list of vehicles being discontinued after 2012 is surprisingly long and diverse.
CNN Money has compiled a list of departing vehicles, to which we've added a few more of our own. In the slow sales column, cars like the Lexus HS 250h, Mercedes-Benz R-Class and the full Maybach lineup appear, while the Ford Escape Hybrid, Mazda CX-7 and Hyundai Veracruz are all having their gaps filled with more modern and more fuel-efficient alternatives. Obvious exceptions to the rule include models that still sell in decent numbers like the Jeep Liberty and the Chrysler Town & Country (which will eventually be replaced by a crossover-like vehicle).
