Beautiful 1971 Mustang convertible. Very low mileage. This is a California car purchased 18 years ago and brought to the Pacific Northwest. Second owner of this car with only 55,119 original miles. This car has spent the majority of its life stored under its cover in a large shop over on the Olympic Peninsula. Originally purchased from the first original owner for my brother who passed shortly after the purchase. The car was locked away for years and recently came out of storage. This car is totally original and numbers matching. 302 engine and C-4 Automatic Transmission. It received a fresh paint job back to the original Tampico Red color several years ago. This was done only because the car had been waxed so many times that the paint was getting thin on the top corners of the fenders. It received a new convertible top in the original white color at the same time. It also received a new trunk pan and all new weather striping. The engine bay has not even been molested. It is all original. This is a very low option car with the only options being the power top and power steering. It even has the original working AM radio. The car drives great and everything functions as it should. It is a real attention getter. The tires are like new as well. The only things I am aware of that it needs to be perfect is it has a small crack in the center of the dash pad which is hard to see or find, it has a slight hesitation upon acceleration and could probably use a carb rebuild. This is I am sure due to sitting in storage for so many years. It also has a small exhaust leak somewhere in the exhaust system noted by the louder than normal sound. If I was going to keep the car I would probably replace the seat covers. They are original and while they have no rips or tears they have a somewhat worn appearance. As I stated the engine bay has not been molested, painted, etc. so you can see it is all original. To be a show car it could be detailed out. I have noted any defects I have seen. I reccomend you inspect any vehicle prior to purchase and will facilitate an inspection by you or your agent. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction's end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction's end. Ford Green Zone works magic with GPS to make your drive smarter, cleaner

Fri, Aug 29 2014

For the most part, plug-in hybrids rely on the power stored in the battery until that charge is depleted. Unless the switch can be changed manually, it's only then that the cars fire up the internal combustion engine and begin using the fossil fuels on board. This is ideal, of course, when one's drive isn't long enough that the car needs to start sipping gasoline at all. On longer commutes, when it's certain that the route is longer than the car's all-electric range, this isn't necessarily the most efficient use of energy. Ford's Green Zone system is designed to save some of that juice for the parts of the drive that require slower speeds. Ford is working on a smart system, based on Nokia mapping technology, that uses GPS data to use both the electricity and conventional fuel more efficiently. Since battery power is less efficient at highway speeds, Ford's Green Zone system is designed to save some of that juice for the parts of the drive that require slower speeds, rather than just using up all the electrons right at the beginning of the drive. Using a website or the in-car navigation system, the driver can pinpoint the parts of the route, highlighted in green, where using battery power would be more effective, and set the car to automatically switch to electricity for those sections. Depending on the route, the car could automatically switch back and forth between the two power sources multiple times, particularly if the drive is a mix between city and highway driving. Of course, Green Zone will be go beyond that. The program is being developed to take traffic and road grade into account, details that allow the car to be make even smarter choices to improve efficiency. Ford even hopes to have Green Zone learn driver habits, and respond accordingly depending on who is driving the car. The system could control other features as well, such as anticipating corners and shifting the headlights to better illuminate the road ahead. Green Zone could also potentially use information from vehicle-to-vehicle networking to control functions in the car. The Green Zone system still has a few years before it will be ready to be put into production vehicles, but Ford is confident it will make its way onto the road eventually. As with other innovations that improve efficiency and make our vehicles smarter, we can expect to see similar technology from other manufacturers, until it becomes a regular part of driving in the future.

Ford recalling 850,000 cars and SUVs for airbag issues

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

Ford has announced a major recall of 850,000 vehicles from model years 2013 and 2014 due to a problem with the "restraints control module."
According to Ford, a short circuit could develop in the module, causing the airbag warning light to illuminate. In more severe cases, dependent on where the short develops, the airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may not work in the event of an accident. The problems can be more wide-ranging than that, too, as systems that rely on information from the control module, such as the stability control can be affected.
With 850,000 vehicles affected, it's no surprise that some of Ford's volume leaders are covered. That includes the Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans, as well as the incredibly recall-prone Escape and the C-Max MPV.

Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment

Thu, 20 Mar 2014

One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.
