2013 - Ford Mustang on 2040-cars
Russellville, Missouri, United States
WOW ! This car is FAST and gorgeous. Tis is my 2013 GT Premium convertible in excellent condition and always babied - NO RESERVE auction. Always garaged. Highly desired Red Candy Tri-Coat metallic paint that you have to see to believe. The Boss 302 intake with SCT tune adds head-snapping mid-RPM acceleration and the massive 4" Shelby/SVT quad exhaust lets everyone know you mean business without being obnoxious. Thumbs up everywhere you go. I've tastefully customized this car with all the popular options; Ford Racing Brembo brakes, Ford Racing handling package, Shelby/SVT quad exhaust, SVE wheels, Continental Extreme Contact all-season performance tires, Boss 302 intake and Ford OEM heat exchanger in place waiting for a super-charger. The devil is in the details and I've paid attention to them. The front of the car underwent a Shelby GT500 front fascia conversion using Ford OEM parts. While the Fascia was off I had the upper and lower grille inserts as well as the front splitter professionally painted satin black - no greyish black faded factory pieces here. I also installed upper and lower mesh grille inserts provided by Custom Car Grilles. While the Shelby/SVT quad exhaust was being installed I had the rear valance professionally painted to match the body color. I'll be sorry to see this car go, but it's time to upgrade. My loss is your gain. This car won't last long at this price. Set yourself apart from the rest instantly by bidding on this beauty. New Ford Police Interceptor tech protects cops' backsides
Mon, 22 Jul 2013It was only a matter of time before law enforcement agencies would realize the potential of driver-assist technology for use in their Ford Police Interceptors, and, now that they have, those back-up cameras and radar systems won't be used just for parking, but for security, as well.
The surveillance mode system works when the camera or radar detects movement from behind the vehicle, and if it does when it's activated, an alarm will alert the officer inside the car, the driver's side window will roll up and the doors will lock, protecting the officer from an unwanted intrusion. The officer, of course, has the option to turn surveillance mode off, mainly in urban areas where pedestrians would constantly set the alarm off, and it can only be activated when the police car is in park.
Randy Freiburger, Ford's police and ambulance fleet supervisor, came up with the patent-pending idea when researching the needs of police officers and riding along with them, during which time he realized officers would be safer with an extra set of eyes watching the area behind their cars, especially at night or when they're completing paperwork, using the in-car computer or handling a radar gun. "Unfortunately, there are people with bad intentions who sneak up on police officers," he says.

2015 F-150 launch to curb Ford profits?
Thu, 30 Jan 2014Ford is making a big bet on aluminum with its new 2015 F-150, and it's possible that the decision will hurt the company financially, at least in the short term. After earning a record $8.6 billion in 2013, the Blue Oval does not expect to set another record in 2014. According to Automotive News, that's "largely attributable to F Series," says Bob Shanks, Ford's Chief Financial Officer.
To retool for the new F-150, Ford will idle its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan for 11 weeks and the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri for 2 weeks. "3 of the 13 overall weeks occur during what normally is our summer shutdown timeframe," said Mike Levine, Ford Trucks Communication Manager, in an email to Autoblog. The extra 10 weeks will be preparing for the more aluminum-intensive construction for the trucks and will mean over 2 months of no F-150s being made. For comparison's sake, Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne just confirmed that the 200 plant in Sterling Heights, MI will be down for 30 days to retool for the new model, but obviously there are many more F-150 production variables than for the midsize sedan.
Levine notes that Ford is already running three shifts at both plants, and says the automaker has plans to ensure that there is adequate supply of the full-size pickups during the retooling process. The company does not want to suffer a shortage of the vehicle that accounted for 31-percent of its 2013 US sales and an even bigger percentage of its profits.
