If you are looking for this type of vehicle, I think you probably know all the standard options and features it
came with. This car is original, exactly how we bought it, new, fives years of minor use and weekend driving on
short day trips. It the black on black King of the Road, black leather interior, full navigation system and 6 cd
changer, numbered plaque from Shelby. It has the original tires on it, the rear tires are getting low on tread and
it would be wise to get new tires for it.
This vehicle has been garaged since we bought it. It has only been driven in the rain on a couple of occasions
where we got caught by bad weather that started nice when we left. It has never been driven during winter
conditions or when roads are being salted. We have always waited to drive the car after winter until after the salt
was washed from roads and a couple of rain falls had happened.
We have only driven this care on average a 1000 miles per year since buying the car new from Rodham Ford. We are
the only owners of the car, it is actually technically my wife's car. She is a little scared of its power and
hardly wants to drive it.
It is all original, as we bought it, we have the certificate from ford (wall plaque), its numbered #444 from
Shelby, we have the original window sticker. We paid the car off several years ago and have the Title papers. Its a
very clean, good looking vehicle, always turns heads. I think if you are thinking of buying this, you know what
this car is all about. There are no dents or body damage, there might be some minor paint scuffs from normal use,
but a good polish would bring it back to looking as new as it can.
In October 2014 we were forced to drive it, early am before sunrise due to the fact we had a previously arranged
appointment and our Jeep Grand Cherokee broke down. A racoon passed in front of the car and I tried to brake and
swerve, I was unable to fully stop or avoid the racoon and it went under the front ride side of the front bumper
bar. At first we thought there was no damage, but then later when the sun rose we saw the bumper had a crack in it
from the indicator. We took it to Berlin NH Body Shop and the bumper was fully replaced with all original Shelby
parts, it actually turned out to be a nightmare to get the replacement stickers etc from Shelby Automobiles, we had
to verify the VIN etc to prove we owned a King of the Road. It was a minor accident, it really was. All up I think
ford replaced the following parts: Bumper, Bumper Stickers, Carbon Fiber Strip on bottom of bumper, and two round
intake rings on bumper. The car looks just like it did before the bumper replacement.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.

Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake

Thu, 19 Sep 2013

History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.

Detroit 3 and UAW set for showdown over tiered wages

Mon, Mar 23 2015

This week, thousands of United Auto Workers will converge on Cobo Center in Detroit for the Special Convention on Collective Bargaining, an every-four-year event that lets members tell UAW leaders what the negotiating priorities should be during contract negotiations. This is where a lot of sand and a lot of lines start coming together in preparation for contract negotiations between the UAW and the Detroit 3 automakers, which will happen later this year. Number one on the UAW agenda is the end of the two-tier wage system created in 2007 to help the automakers get through bankruptcy; veteran workers are paid the Tier 1 rate of around $29.00 per hour, new hires are paid the Tier 2 rate of between $15 and $20 and get about half the benefits of Tier 1. Tier 2 hiring has been an undoubted success for the automakers, allowing them to keep factories in the US and hire more workers. By agreement, it is capped at a certain percentage of each automaker's workforce, and while the union's ultimate position is to get rid of the dual-scale system entirely; one leader said Ford could easily afford the $335 million it would take to convert all its workers to Tier 1 out of its $6.9 billion in 2014 North American profit, and General Motors could do the same out of the $5 billion it is handing to investors through the (admittedly forced) share buyback. Other delegates say that at the very least they'd be happy with enforcement of the current caps in the new contract. The automakers, conversely, would welcome expansion of the Tier 2 ranks. Including benefits, import automakers pay workers "in the high $40 range" per hour, according to an analyst, while Ford and GM pay about $59 in wages and benefits per hour. More Tier 2 workers on the rolls would let those two companies get labor cost parity with the competition. Fiat-Chrysler pays wages closer to the imports because of special exceptions in its UAW contract that allow unlimited Tier 2 hiring; those exceptions will end on September 14 and bring FCA into line with the other domestics, unless the new contract maintains them. FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne is opposed to the two-tier system, having called it "almost offensive." One analyst says the UAW might win a sizable pay raise for Tier 2 and a small increase for Tier 1, but the keystone issue will be how the hiring matrix can help the automakers keep overall wages in line with the imports.

Ford Australia debuts Ranger-based Everest SUV concept

Tue, 13 Aug 2013

Ford has been in hot water in Australia ever since it announced plans to end local production of the Falcon and Territory SUV. Besides canceling a model that is to Oz what the Mustang is to America, the end of production means more than a few folks will be out of work.
Keen to prove that it has a plan for the market, Ford has unveiled the Aussie-penned Everest Concept, a rough-and-tumble, seven-seat SUV. While not a direct replacement for the aging Territory (that role will eventually be filled by either the Edge or Flex, according to Car Advice) it's an indication from Ford's brass that the Blue Oval is still committed to Australia.
To prove that fact, Alan Mullaly, Mark Fields, Jim Farley and regional execs descended on Sydney for the debut of the new concept. Ford's Australian president and CEO, Bob Graziano, said of the Everest, "Our customers, our employees and Australia can be assured that we're connected to the nation and committed to our customers through terrific products with class-leading technologies."
