We bought this Mustang on 9/9/2012. Mileage at purchase was 72,402. Current mileage is 86,573 as of August 21, 2014. Edmunds Review: “Enter the current Mustang, redesigned for 2005. The canted nose with its big grille and round headlights recalls the '67 to '69 Mustangs, while the side sculpting, fastback roofline and taillights recall those ponies of the 1965 vintage. Even the triangular side windows are reminiscent of what Carol Shelby did when he made the 1965 Mustang "2+2" (a.k.a. the fastback) into his Shelby GT 350. The Mustang's interior is unique and matches the exterior design theme. Obvious old-school influences are found in the instrument panel: A dual-hooded dash with aluminum accent panels pays obvious homage to the 1967-'68 Mustang, as do the big speedo and tach, circular air vents and plump, round steering wheel hub… changeable backlighting illuminates the nostalgic instruments; at the press of a button one can select from white, blue, green, and orange hues. For power… the GT packs a 300-horse, 4.6-liter V8 with variable valve timing. The suspension boasts a relatively supple ride and ultracrisp handling. Ford has done a fine job with the latest Mustang, not only in terms of styling, but also in performance, handling, ride dynamics and basic ergonomics. If you're looking for an affordable coupe or convertible that's fast and fun and comfortable enough to drive every day, this is your ride.” 2006 Mustang Overview: The 2006 Mustang differed little from the 2005 model year. The GT kept its revised 4.6L SOHC V8 with 300 horsepower and 320ft/lbs of torque. 2006 was the first year for the optional Ford Pony Package that added grille-mounted fog lamps, 17'' wheels, a spoiler, and extra exterior decals and striping. A few new color and audio options were added for both trim levels, but kept the S197 body style with its retro-futuristic design philosophy that was inspired by first generation Mustangs. Bottom Line: Why are we selling this beauty? Health issues for the wife are now precluding her ability to drive a stick shift. We need a vehicle that both of us can equally drive. Simple as that. We have thoroughly enjoyed this pony car until now and sadly are looking to part with it. We certainly think whoever buys it will be pleased with their purchase. To the best of my ability I am accurately providing the details on this vehicle as I know them. I have done my best to describe everything as best I know them to be true. Any errors are purely accidental and unintentional. To our knowledge this vehicle has never been in an accident or needed body, frame, or engine work performed beyond normal maintenance. Other than new and used dealers we think we are the third owners of the vehicle. While we have had this GT it has served as a semi-daily driver that’s been great fun to drive. So, this car does show the normal wear and tear to be expected of a vehicle its age and mileage. Primarily that involves minor paint chips in the front grill/bumper area and hood. Otherwise the paint is mostly flawless throughout the rest of the body. The car has no leaks to our knowledge. We've not seen even a drop here or there. Everything appears tight. In the spirit of truthfulness. Three known Mustang manufacturing flaws of this era that appear on various vehicles. Yep, this one has all three. First, the door panel molding glue tends to fail and the panels droop. Both doors have been re-glued by Gary since ownership. Second, the radio push buttons are losing their stencils. It is slightly unsightly but does not impede the functionality. The radio operates as it should. Third, the CD player is not working, an internet search reveals this is a standard problem on many Mustangs of this era. That said, this car has just been professionally detailed by In Depth Auto Detailing to be ready for YOU. In Depth Auto Detailing only uses products from Adam’s Polishes. You can feel confident that In Depth Auto Detailing will get the job done right throughout the entire process; from washing the exterior, to cleaning and treating the finest leather interior. Here's what you get in this beautiful GT (new car
ratings): 4.6L V8 OHC 24V Mileage: 86,573 as of August 21, 2014 This GT is stock as the day it came off the production floor. For any modifiers out there you can go in any direction you want without dealing with someone else’s version of the perfect upgrades. But for those just wanting a very nice GT this fits the bill perfectly.

2015 Ford F-150 claims segment's best payload, towing ratings
Mon, 29 Sep 2014While we are set to drive the new, 2015 Ford F-150 in the coming days, there's a big piece of news on the latest-generation of the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter pickup coming out of Dearborn, and it focuses on the truck's hauling and towing abilities.
The new F-150 will have a maximum payload of 3,300-pounds (V8 models), and, perhaps more importantly, a 12,200-pound tow rating (EcoBoost V6 models), which for the first time are compliant with the Society of Automotive Engineer's J2807 standards. Those best-in-class figures are significant feathers in Ford's cap as the Detroit Three continue duking it out for the title of top pickup.
"As founding members of the SAE trailer towing committee, we will meet SAE trailer towing standards," Ford's Aaron Miller told Autoblog.
Ford decides C-Max shoppers not interested in fuel economy
Sat, Oct 25 2014If you say a car – the Ford C-Max Hybrid, for example – is "fun to drive," can anyone really come up with some empirical evidence against your claim? What about calling it "versatile"? We wonder if Ford has been thinking along these lines when it talks about the green little hatch. Ford is refocusing its sales strategy for the C-Max Hybrid after the model took a sales hit on both sides of the Atlantic recently, Automotive News reports. That sales dropoff may stem from the fact that Ford has had to revise its fuel-economy figures downward for the C-Max twice since last year, most recently in June. That made the company's once-proud fuel-economy comparisons with the Toyota Prius kind of pointless. Ford is going a different route, calling the model versatile (which, to be fair it was also doing a year ago), technologically advanced and fun to drive. Since the C-Max has about 50 more horsepower than the Prius, that last part may be true. Ford representatives didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from AutoblogGreen about the mpg-mention-free advertising direction, but we will update this post if we hear back. Sales of the C-Max Hybrid have suffered in the US. Through September, Ford sold 15,245 C-Max Hybrids, down 36 percent from last year. We shall see if a new focus away from the car's lowered mpg numbers helps. At least Ford can be pleased with sales of the C-Max Energi Plug-in Hybrid, which are up 51 percent compared to 2013.
Aluminum lightweighting does, in fact, save fuel
Mon, Apr 14 2014When the best-selling US truck sheds the equivalent weight of three football fullbacks by shifting to aluminum, folks start paying attention. Oak Ridge National Laboratory took a closer look at whether the reduced fuel consumption from a lighter aluminum body makes up for the fact that producing aluminum is far more energy intensive than steel. And the results of the study are pretty encouraging. In a nutshell, the energy needed to produce a vehicle's raw materials accounts for about 10 percent of a typical vehicle's carbon footprint during its total lifecycle, and that number is up from six percent because of advancements in fuel economy (fuel use is down to about 68 percent of total emissions from about 75 percent). Still, even with that higher material-extraction share, the fuel-efficiency gains from aluminum compared to steel will offset the additional vehicle-extraction energy in just 12,000 miles of driving, according to the study. That means that, from an environmental standpoint, aluminum vehicles are playing with the house's money after just one year on the road. Aluminum-sheet construction got topical real quickly earlier this year when Ford said the 2015 F-150 pickup truck would go to a 93-percent aluminum body construction. In addition to aluminum being less corrosive than steel, that change caused the F-150 to shed 700 pounds from its curb weight. And it looks like the Explorer and Expedition SUVs may go on an aluminum diet next. Take a look at SAE International's synopsis of the Oak Ridge Lab's study below. Life Cycle Energy and Environmental Assessment of Aluminum-Intensive Vehicle Design Advanced lightweight materials are increasingly being incorporated into new vehicle designs by automakers to enhance performance and assist in complying with increasing requirements of corporate average fuel economy standards. To assess the primary energy and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) implications of vehicle designs utilizing these materials, this study examines the potential life cycle impacts of two lightweight material alternative vehicle designs, i.e., steel and aluminum of a typical passenger vehicle operated today in North America. LCA for three common alternative lightweight vehicle designs are evaluated: current production ("Baseline"), an advanced high strength steel and aluminum design ("LWSV"), and an aluminum-intensive design (AIV).
