Up for auction is supercharged 1988 mustang.  I bought this car about a year and a half ago, but I have found that its just got a little more than I need under the hood.  It is a rush to drive, but I need a weekend cruiser with some go, and this car really should be cruising to the track on the weekends. I am a bit torn about selIing it, but we want to get something that the wife is comfortable driving too. I run the car on 50/50 race/pump gas.  It can run fine on just pump gas by simply dialing back the boost retard mouted on the dash.  The car has the 5-lug conversion and rims are from an 03 SVT cobra.  There are wheel spacers on the front lugs, so they can fit the 17x9" wheels.  I havent had a problem with them and a lot of people run them, but I was going to get something skinnier for the front. I'll leave that up to you. Mickey T drag radials in the back and goodyear eagle F1's in the font. The car is just how I bought it, and I will do my best to detail what I learned from the owner who had it built by a race shop in OK. I bought the car 200 miles after the build, and have put about 300 on it so everything that you see is about 2 years and 500 miles old, including the paint. He dumped a ton of $ into it and a house came up for sale that he had to have. I am not a mechanic, but I at least understand most of the terminology.  If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them. Please look closely at the pictures as the car is really nice, but not flawless. I do not have a hoist, but you can see that under the car is rust free. The motor is a 302 cleaned out to 306 with all forged internals, and a Vortec V-2 supercharger. The supercharger was used, but was sent in to Vortec for a complete rebuild when the engine was built. The car has been very dependable.  It always starts right up and runs great. A few of the non-essentials have been elimitated like heat, AC, wipers and cruise.  All of the lights and singals  are new and work fine.Below is a list of all aftermarket goodies that make this car something special.   The car put out over 700hp on straight race fuel at the crank. 537 hp to the rear wheels.

Trickflow intake and stage 2 cam

ARP hardware

SFI balancer

70mm throttle body

90mm mass air flow senser

flowed 42 lb injectors

Built in 6000 rpm rev limiter

Tremec TKO 600 5 speed manual transmission

Lakewood scatter shield

Aluminum Flywheel

Spec Stage 3 clutch

Chromoly Driveshaft

31 spline axles with an auburn rear end

New disc brakes up front, new drums in back

New monroe shocks in the rear with rear links, and subframe connectors

Tubular front K-member with fully adjustable front coilovers

Stainless 2.5 inch mufflers (I cannot discribe how mean this car sounds...you just have to hear it)

All MSD ingnition (blaster coil, 6AL box, dialable boost retard for street fuel)

Ford Racing Tach with shift light.

Mishimoto Aluminum radiator with electric fan.

Please feel free to ask questions as I am sure I forgot something.  The car does have a slight oil leak from the rear main seal.  After some reading online I see that the ford 302 is known for that, ecspecially when they are boosted.  It does not leak all the time, only when it runs.  It has been such a small amount that I have left it alone.  The weather stripping and trim could be replaced in some areas, and the interior is nice, but not show quality. The plastic rear bumper cover has a slight bulge in the center that is more obvious in the pictures than in person.  The speedometer is not hooked up because it needs an a different plug is needed to go into the TKO vs its original 5 speed that the speedo is meant for.... Again please look at the pictures. Dont be scared off by this stuff.  Its all very minor, but as you can see from my feedback I don't want to try to sneak it by you and end up with an unhappy buyer.  For my starting bid you would be crazy not to be happy with this car.  The drivetrain cost more to build than $6k.  Good luck....and if you bid...plan on paying for it!

This is a re-list due to a non paying bidder.

Fallon picks Ford F-150 King Ranch, launches dealership contest

Tue, 01 Apr 2014

New truck! Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show has been searching for the perfect new truck for a few weeks now, soliciting help from all corners in the process. Last night, Fallon made the announcement that the Ford F-150 King Ranch - in all of its cowboy glory - had been picked as his big winner.
To add some more spice to a storyline that now dips deeply into the realm of the advertorial, Fallon also announced a contest to see which Ford dealership would get the privilege of selling him the King Ranch. Dubbed "Fingers on a 4x4" The Tonight Show has invited 10 dealer reps from around the country to keep their hands on Jimmy's F-150 for as long as possible. Last salesperson standing wins.
Watch Fallon make his pick and introduce the dealer reps below, and be sure to click on the second video for a live-streaming feed of Fingers on a 4x4 in action (the contest seems to be going strong).

How new car shortages may impact your buying experience

Wed, 04 Sep 2013

If you want further proof that the auto industry is bouncing back, look no further than the empty lots and forecourts of your local dealership. According to a story by The Wall Street Journal, continued high demand for mainstream cars is overtaxing automakers' ability to produce enough models. Several dealers interviewed for the story are reporting two-week supplies as opposed to the typical two-month allocations.
With sales expected to hit 1.4 million units when August numbers arrive shortly and incentive spending down to its lowest amount since January, these limited supplies are pushing prices even higher. For example, according to the WSJ, the average price of a Ford Fusion is up past $26,000. Unfortunately, it's difficult for manufacturers to increase production quickly. If it invests in its facilities, as many manufacturers have done, it risks wasting cash if growth suddenly slows. At the same time, the momentum gained over the past several years could be short lived if vehicle supplies continue to dwindle. "Manufacturers are in a precarious situation," notes Karl Brauer, a senior director at Kelley Blue Book.
Low interest rates and a wealth of desirable features are also allowing customers to purchase more expensive vehicles while justifying their higher overall price tags, a situation that is compounding supply shortages. Even now, during the annual end-of-summer clearance season, deals on new vehicles are remarkably difficult to come by. According to the report, the Toyota Corolla is in a self-inflicted state of shortage, as Toyota clears out inventory in anticipation of the new 2014 generation arriving in dealers. Ford's supplies should rebound as Fusion production comes on line at its Flat Rock, Michigan factory. The Chevrolet Impala, Honda Odyssey, Civic, and Accord and Subaru Forester are also facing shortages.
