Here is your opportunity to own a unique piece of Mustang History, a 1984 Mustang SVO time capsule in original condition with 9700 miles since new. This car was built in Dec 1983 and is a rare "Slapper Bar" SVO. I purchased the car 4 years ago where it had been stored and not driven for many years. I wanted to occasionally drive her and had all the fluids changed and, and the original factory tires were replaced with new Goodyear Eagle F-1's. I still have the original Eagle NCT's and they are included with the sale. The car had just over 8900 miles when I purchased her. I am reluctantly selling this car because we are moving, I have two other Mustangs and not enough storage space!

This car was ordered fully optioned with leather interior and sunroof. Included with the sale are a folder with a Marti (Emminger) report, the original Ford Invoice, reproduction window sticker, dealership sales materials, copies of titles from all owners, and various spare parts and manuals. The car is ready to show and has taken Gold or 1st place in every car show that we have entered her in, including an MCA National event.
The car has some minor cosmetic blemishes, and the overall condition inside and out is exceptional for this almost 30 year old Mustang. The A/C does not work, the compressor appears to be locked and a NOS Motorcraft compressor is included. The CarFax report will also show a discrepancy on the mileage. The gentlemen I purchased it from checked a wrong box on his Maryland title application and it was corrected to show actual mileage. If you look at the report closely there is a second Maryland title issuance showing the correction. This condition of this car leaves now doubt as of the authenticity of the mileage, I worked at a FOMOCO dealership in 84 and the car still has the new car smell. With the possibility of Ford Producing a 2.3L Ecoboost Mustang for the 50th anniversary now is the time to buy one of the best examples of the Fox Body at a very reasonable price.
If you are the successful bidder, a $1000 deposit must be made by PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Bidders with NO feedback must be approved to bid or the bid will be canceled.

1947 Chevy rat rod pickup leaves rubber and smoke in its wake

Thu, 08 May 2014

Cool comes in multiple flavors. One one hand, we have the sophisticated attraction of svelte design and the efficient use of power. Of course, on the other hand there is the allure of being the bad boy and going against the grain. That is part of the appeal of rat rods. Ideally, they are built without rules to an owner's specific tastes, and this widened and heavily modified 1947 Chevrolet pickup rod is a perfect example of that spirit.
Coming down the highway with a bent grille, rusted body and pouring smoke, it looks like the pickup from hell. It backs up the looks with some very impressive mechanicals too. Owner Troy Gubser says that the truck packs a Ford Power Stroke diesel with to 42 pounds of boost that runs out of 8-inch exhaust stacks at the back. He claims it managed 505 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque on the dyno. To harness all that power, this hot rod has a ZF five-speed manual gearbox with a ceramic clutch and short-throw shifter. Plus, it has cool little features like a doorbell on the tailgate that operates an air horn.
You might not expect a truck like this to actually be useful, but it has a fifth wheel coupling to haul an RV around drag races and car shows. The air suspension also probably keeps the ride fairly comfy when Gubser wants it to be. Scroll down to check out this beastly rat rod pickup and watch it engage in some diesel drag racing. Warning, there is some NSFW language.

Ford taps Canada-based Multimatic to build carbon fiber Ford GT

Mon, Feb 16 2015

Ford has given Canadian firm Multimatic the nod to build the carbon fiber body on the new GT – The Blue Oval says it has worked with this company for 30 years. The global supplier provides parts and engineering to various automakers, and while based in Markham, Ontario it has 12 plants in Canada, the US, Mexico, England, and China. When announcing the decision at the Canadian International Auto Show, Ford says it chose them "because they have specialized equipment for carbon fiber production and expertise in carbon fiber assembly," and we've heard that the 600-horsepower coupe will be produced in a purpose-built facility at Ford's factory in Markham. Even better than that – for GT purposes and for possible hints at a Le Mans run – the Multimatic Motorsports division can be contracted for engineering and race team management. They currently produce the Boss 302R racecar in the Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, worked on the FR500C, and their Multimatic Motorsports Lola B2K/40 won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2000. The first models will roll off the line at the end of next year. Production numbers are rumored to be in the low hundreds, with a six-figure price tag around $200,000. They'll go into production in time for some sort of 50th anniversary celebration of the GT40 taking the the top three spots at Le Mans in 1966. Detroit and Silicon Valley: When cultures collide

Fri, May 26 2017

Culture is a subject that rarely, if never, gets discussed when traditional auto companies buy — or hugely invest — in Silicon Valley-based companies. The conversation surrounding the investments is usually about how the tech looks appealing and how it's an appropriate step to move the automakers toward autonomy. Culture — the way things are done, the expectations, and the approaches — is something that is overlooked only at one's peril. The potential cultural gap is almost always evident in the obligatory photos of the participants in these deals, with is essentially a photo op of auto execs with their Silicon Valley counterparts. The former — rocking jeans and no ties — look like parochial school kids playing hooky. Don't worry: The regimental outfits will be back in place once they get back in the Eastern time zone. Consider what happened back in 1998 when Daimler bought Chrysler. First of all, there was a denial in Detroit that it happened. It was positioned as a "merger of equals." Which it wasn't. In any corporate situation, when one has more than 50 percent of the business, it owns the whole thing. And the German company was in the proverbial driver's seat. People who were around Auburn Hills back then kept their heads down and their German Made Simple books at hand. Things did not go well. Daimler had had enough by 2007, when it offloaded Chrysler to Cerberus Capital Management — which brought ex-Home Depot CEO Bob Nardelli into the picture, which is a story onto itself. But when you think about the Daimler-Chrysler situation, realize that these were two car companies (at least the Mercedes part of the Daimler organization), so they had that in common, and the language of engineers is something of an Esperanto based on math, so there was that, too. Yet it simply didn't work. It doesn't take too many viewings of HBO's Silicon Valley to know that the business people in that part of the world are far more aggressive than people who ordinarily head and control car companies in Detroit. About 20 years ago, a book came out about the founder of Oracle titled The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison* - and the asterisk on the book jacket leads to: God Doesn't Think He's Larry Ellison. It would be hard to imagine a book about a Detroit executive, even a book that had the decided bias that the tome about Ellison evinces, that would be quite so searing. Sure, there are egos. But they are still perceived to be, overall, "nice" people.
