1970 Mustang Boss 302 - Rotisserie Restored - All #'s Matching -original Ca Car! on 2040-cars
Scottsdale, Arizona, United States
Here is an absolutely gorgeous, 1970 Mustang Boss 302 that has received an MCA winner, rotisserie restoration. This very rare yellow, California delivered Boss has an all numbers matching drivetrain from the engine to the read end. It is one of the MOST documented Boss 302's in the country with two factory build sheets, two line inspection sheets (rarely seen), original window sticker, deluxe Marti report and original California registrations. This was a one owner car from 1969 to 1989 and spent most of its life in Long Beach, California. It was sold new at Bill Ellis Ford in Rialto, California. Being an original California car it still wears all its original sheetmetal and has always been a rust free car. In the mid 2000's this car received a complete photo documented rotisserie restoration to MCA winning standards. It is correct right down to the red primer floorboards with yellow overspray. The car was done with so much attention to detail it is even sitting on original NOS Magnum 500 wheels with original NOS Goodyear Polyglas tires (Not Repos). It was purchased by a collector in 2007 where it was put away in his collection of over 80 collector cars, never to be driven or seen daylight until we purchased the car a month ago. The car was stored with 110 race gas in it, so with a new battery and fresh gas the car runs and drives like new after 7 years of storage. These Boss 302's are the most desirable and most coveted Muscle cars ever built. This car is very rare as they only built as they only built 7,013 Boss 302?s in 1970 and who knows how many are left, especially one like this car. Maybe only a handful, if that!!!! It's loaded with the following equipment:
The exterior of this rare car is in gorgeous condition. This car is painted in its original color of brilliant, "Bright Yellow" with black Boss stripes. The paint job is absolutely gorgeous and it looks amazing. It was hand rubbed to a smooth as glass finish. The body is laser straight and everything lines up beautifully. This has been a southern California car pretty much all its life. It is completely rust free and all its original sheetmetal. It has all new chrome,, trim and rubbers through out. It looks so good going down the road that people can't help but stop and stare! Sitting in this Boss 302, you'll feel like you've just entered a time warp. The black interior is all brand new and looks amazing. The dash and gauge cluster are like new with every piece inside of the car is redone. Everything works in the car right down to the original AM radio. To find a '70 Boss 302 in this kind of condition is very hard. In the trunk it looks beautiful and is all redone factory correct and looks amazing with its original space saver spare! Mechanically, this Boss runs and drives excellent. The numbers matching, 302ci 4v Boss V8 purrs like a kitten and runs awesome. This motor and transmission were rebuilt when the car was restored. Under the hood is absolutely detailed to show condition with the correct markings from the factory. This car needs nothing. I wouldn't be afraid to drive it anywhere. This car always starts right up and it drives down the road with ease! This is an ultra rare Muscle car that is only going up in value as time goes on. The Boss 302 has always been an iconic car and is any collector's dream piece. It is obvious that this car has been extremely well taken care of and no expense was spared. The restoration of this car photo documented showing it was taken down to a bare shell. Please do not hesitate to bid on this piece of Trans Am racing history. Ford mulling EcoSport for US? [w/poll]
Mon, 03 Jun 2013"We certainly have that ability. We're studying it very, very closely." Those are the words of Jim Farley, global head of sales, marketing, service at Ford. The investigation Farley is referring to is the possibility of selling the company's new EcoSport crossover in America.
The diminutive Fiesta-based EcoSport was developed for emerging markets like Brazil and, more recently, China, but it apparently may have a future in the States, where it would form a new entry-level rung below the Escape in Ford's already robust crossover stable. Ford has big plans for its tiny CUV - Farley tells Automotive News that the EcoSport is only available in 10 countries right now, but by 2017, its distribution will have mushroomed to 62 countries. At the time the second-generation model launched at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show as a 2013 model, Ford said the EcoSport would eventually be sold in nearly 100 markets worldwide.
The Brazilian- and Indian-assembled EcoSport is available with a variety of gasoline-powered engines, but the 1.0-liter, three-cylinder EcoBoost giving 118 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque would seem to be the powertrain of choice for America, as it was recently confirmed for the stateside 2014 Fiesta.
NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe
Mon, 17 Dec 2012According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
Jaguar design boss admits X-Type was a mistake
Thu, 19 Sep 2013History has a way of repeating itself, especially in the auto industry. When Jaguar was owned by Ford, the British brand attempted to field a competitor for the BMW 3 Series, called the X-Type. Based on the bones of a Ford Mondeo, it aped the styling of Jaguar's flagship model, the XJ, while borrowing liberally from the Ford parts bin. That was 2001.
Now, in 2013, Jaguar is planning a new 3 Series challenger based on the platform previewed by the C-X17 Concept, while Ford is attempting to take the latest Mondeo upmarket. The moves have both brands recognizing where, why, and how the X-Type failed. "It didn't look mature or powerful or anything. It was just a car," Jaguar's current head of advanced design, Julian Thomson, told PistonHeads. Basing the X-Type on a front-drive car while giving it styling that was meant for a rear-driver lead to proportions that "were plainly wrong," Thomson told PH. Ford's European head of quality, Gunnar Herrmann, added that the X-Type was "a fake Jaguar, because every piece I touch is Ford."
For what it's worth, the X-Type's successor in the segment will sport rear-drive, with plenty of input from Ian Callum. Thomson described the new model, which would challenge the 3 Series as having, "Big wheels right to the ends of the car, low bonnet, short overhangs, very low cabins." Sounds good to us.
