This is a 1970 Ford Mustang Fastback being offered for sale from an estate. The owner had just finished this resto-mod when he passed away. He built it to look like a 1969 Boss 302. It comes with an spare flat hood and cowl already painted like the 69 Boss cars. He never added the 69 Boss side stripes. It has undergone a complete rotisserie restoration with many correct Boss styling points. Everything is new or rebuilt.  It is done in a champagne silver poly base/clear with black stripes and red deluxe interior. Its options include: A fresh built 408 stroker engine with a Skat crank, hydraulic roller cam, roller rockers, AFR aluminum heads, ceramic coated headers, aluminized exhaust, 4-speed transmission, 9-inch rear with 3:50 gears, power steering, power disc brakes, new deluxe red interior, rear spoiler, rear slats, and custom 17-inch wheels with Pirelli tires. He just finished this car and had only run it for testing purposes.  The one bad point about the car is that the gentleman painted the car himself, and with the high pearl content, it turned out cloudy in areas. It would be considered driver quality paint. If you wanted it to be a show car, the exterior would have to be repainted. It looks great from a distance and in photos, but it is cloudy when looking at it up close. With that being said, the reserve is set low and the buyer will have plenty of room if they decide to repaint. The car is available for inspection anytime during normal business hours. You can fly into XNA regional airport, where I will be glad to pick you up to take a look. There are no written or implied warranties for this item. The buyer is responsible for all transport costs. The payment is to be made within 7 days of auction's end and payment must be made with bank certified funds or wire transfer.  Thanks, and good luck bidding.

BMW, Hyundai score big in JD Power's first Tech Experience Index

Mon, Oct 10 2016

While automakers are quick to brag about winning a JD Power Initial Quality Study award, the reality, as we've pointed out before, is that these ratings are somewhat misleading, since IQS doesn't necessarily distinguish genuine quality issues. JD Power's new Tech Experience Index aims to solve that problem. The new metric takes the same 90-day approach as IQS but focuses exclusively on technology – collision protection, comfort and convenience, driving assistance, entertainment and connectivity, navigation, and smartphone mirroring. It splits the industry up into just seven segments, based loosely on size, which is why the Chevrolet Camaro is in the same division (mid-size) as Kia Sorento and the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class is in the same segment as the Hyundai Genesis (mid-size premium). It makes for some screwy bedfellows, to be sure. Still, splitting tech experience away from initial quality should allow customers to make more informed and intelligent decisions when buying new vehicles. In the inaugural study, respondents listed BMW and Hyundai as the big winners, with two segment awards – the 2 Series for small premium and the 4 Series for compact premium, and the Genesis for mid-size premium and Tucson for small segment. The Chevrolet Camaro (midsize), Kia Forte (compact), and Nissan Maxima (large) scored individual wins. Ford also had a surprising hit with the Lincoln MKC, which ranked third in the compact premium segment behind the 4 Series and Lexus IS. This is a coup for the Blue Oval, whose woeful MyFord Touch systems made the brand a victim of the IQS' flaws in the early 2010s. But Ford and other automakers might not want to celebrate just yet. According to JD Power, there's still a lot of room for improvement – navigation systems were the lowest-rated piece of tech in the study. Instead, customers repeatedly saluted collision-avoidance and safety systems, giving the category the best marks of the study and listing blind-spot monitoring and backup cameras as two must-have features – 96 percent of respondents said they wanted those two systems in their next vehicle. But this isn't really a surprise. Implementation of safety systems from brand to brand is similar, and they don't require any input from users, unlike navigation and infotainment systems which are frustratingly deep.

First 500 European Ford Mustangs reserved in 30 seconds [w/video]

Thu, 29 May 2014

We're pretty sure that any initial concerns Ford had about selling the redesigned Mustang in Europe have been lessened considerably, after the first 500 Euro-spec 2015 Mustangs were been reserved in just 30 seconds. Moreover, 9,300 people attempted to snag one of the coveted orders for the all-new muscle car. Yes, Mustang, you should do quite well across the pond.
The registration event was held during the UEFA (pronounced yu-eh-fa) Champions League Final between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
"We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Ford Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the UCL Final was overwhelming," said Roelant de Waard, VP of marketing, sales and service for Ford's European outfit. "It was a truly special way to kick off the Ford Mustang era in Europe."

Aussie Ford Falcon GT shows its rear end to Lamborghini Gallardo

Sun, 27 Apr 2014

When Ford Australia announces, as it did recently, that it wants to celebrate the end of its Ford Performance Vehicle division with a Falcon FPV GT-F that celebrates big-bore origins of the nameplate, it's talking about the kind of car in this video.
At some point the classic Falcon GT - said to be an XY series - was invited to a test of acceleration against a Lamborghini Gallardo. At the very least, the Falcon GT had a 351 cubic-inch motor and 300 horsepower, but whatever this guy's got under the hood of his yellow sedan makes has him so confident that he doesn't even move his elbow from its resting place on the door.
You'll find a reminder of Ford Australia's heyday, a raucous exhaust note and some NSFW language in the short video below.
