1968 Ford Mustang Gt 390 "s" Code '68 Coupe on 2040-cars
Louisville, Kentucky, United States
I am listing this car for a relative so please contact him at 502-409 -3479 with any questions. His name is Daniel. I personally do not know very much regarding this car. The following is the information he gave to me...... "This car needs a complete restoration. It hasn't run in years but is very solid, very complete and very restorable. I have started the motor with a gravity feed and let it run just long enough to know that it does run. The gas in the tank is old/bad and needs to be removed and the tank flushed. The car has very minimal rust. The battery tray is the worst......it needs to be replaced. The floors appear to be solid except for one spot about the size of a baseball in the passenger front. The frame rails and torque boxes seem to be solid. The trunk and rocker panels are very solid with no visible rust. This car is complete and has lots of options. I have received the Marti report for this car and it shows the options as: Black Vinyl Roof; GT Equipment Group; C-6 Select Shift Cruise-O-Matic; F70X14 White Sidewall Nylon Wide Oval Tires; Console; Power Disc Brakes; Power Steering; AM Radio; Tinted Glass; In-Dash Tachometer & Trip Odometer. The back seat and passenger front seat are very nice. The driver's seat has a rip in the back rest. Car originally came with a 4 barrel carburetor but now has a 2 barrel. The story is that a father bought this car (used) for his daughter and swapped the carb and manifold for her safety. I do not have the original 4 barrel carb & manifold. I was told by the previous owner that the motor is supposed to be the original but I can't guarantee this to be a fact........I could not find a serial number on the block. This car is very complete and solid and is an excellent candidate for restoration. If you live close by or can send a rep, I encourage you to inspect the car in person.......you will not be disappointed. Car is located in Taylorsville KY (30 miles east of Louisville). Again, my name is Daniel and I will be glad to answer any questions you may have. Cell number is 502-409-3479. Thanks for looking." |

Ford F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang appears at EAA Oshkosh
Sat, 26 Jul 2014Ford is back at the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture air show in Oshkosh, WI, on July 31 auctioning off its seventh Mustang for charity, and this is one seriously mean looking 2015 'Stang. All of the money from the sale goes to give free introductory flights to young people to get them interested in aviation.
We recently saw this latest EAA Mustang as a sketch. However, it looks a whole lot more menacing in person. Dubbed the Ford F-35 Lightning II Edition Mustang, it takes liberal inspiration from Lockheed Martin's latest fighter jet, and the customization makes the pony car look ready for a role in Top Gun.
On the outside, the special Mustang wears titanium-color paint that's offset by a black and yellow stripe running from hood to rear. Out back things get really wild with a mix of bright yellow and black that flows diagonally all the way to the rear spoiler. The design is based on the livery of early production F-35s. If the rousing color scheme isn't enough to get you interested, the car also gets a carbon fiber front splitter and rear diffuser, lowered suspension and a set of custom 21-inch wheels with yellow brake calipers.
Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
Ford trademarking 'Mach 1,' possibly for Mustang
Thu, 24 Oct 2013A legendary name might be accompanying the redesigned, 2015 Mustang when it finally makes its world debut - Mach 1. Stumbled upon by the team at Ford Authority, the Mach 1 title was found in a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, and would revive a name last used on the fourth-generation, 2003 Mustang.
While the the 2003 vintage was well and good, the Mach 1 is really remembered for a three-year run from 1969 to 1971 - it's best to just forget the emissions-choked 1972 to 1978 Mach 1s - when power output ranged from a modest 250 horsepower with the two-barrel, 351-cubic-inch Windsor V8 to "375 hp" (actual output was rumored to be well north of 400 horsepower) with the righteous, 429-cubic-inch Super Cobra Jet V8.
What does the title hold for the sixth-generation Mustang? It's tough to say. The fanatics at Ford Authority seem to think Mach 1 could take the place of the Shelby GT500 at the top of the Mustang hierarchy, which sounds like a valid argument. At the same time, we could see the SVT Cobra moniker returning for the flagship model, and the Mach 1 doing battle with the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 (unless the Boss 302 were to return). Confounding things is the historical precedent - the Mach 1 was responsible for the death of the Mustang GT in 1969, so it might make sense as a volume performance model.
