1968 Mustang Coupe

SHOW IT, DRIVE IT, ENJOY IT…AN AWESOME MUSTANG

My name is John.  Please call me at 801-680-8447 with any questions

This is a beautifully restored example of 1968 Mustang Coupe in remarkable condition. It runs great, drives great, looks great, and the attention it gets is extreme!

No Disappointments: This Mustang is a great investment and a fun car to drive and enjoy. From the engine compartment to the trunk and everywhere in between, this is a clean car.

The following will be a description of each area of the car, being as in-depth and accurate as possible. Please keep in mind that this is a classic car that is over 45 years old, and although I will describe everything as best I can, some small items may have been overlooked.

BODY:

As you can see from the photos, this Mustang has an absolute gorgeous body.  This year, the car was media blasted to bare metal and professionally painted in the deep dark red that you see now.   There is no paint bubbling anywhere on the outside body panels with the exception of the lower driver door.  This is very minor.  I could not get the picture to pick it up.  There are a few ripples and small dings. The underside is 99% all original sheet metal, with great frame rails, strong torque boxes and undercarriage.  The floor pans are original and very strong.  No Rust or ROT.  The trunk drop offs have been professionally replaced.  The panels on this car show great fit and are straight.  I would rate it a solid driver quality paint and body 8 out of 10.

INTERIOR:

·         The interior is professionally restored in 2013 with  new soft trim including:

·         Upholstery

·         Dash Pad

··         Headliner

·         Carpeting

· ·    Antenna

All gauges work as they should.  The horn works.  All windows roll up and down properly and easily.  The front grill is new, from a 2005 GT Mustang.  New HALO lights in the grill.

ENGINE / MECHANICS:

The 5.0L EFI  engine was installed from a 1994 Mustang.   The car runs strong and fast.  There are no fluid leaks, or smoke.  New 17 inch Eleanor wheels and tires on all four corners.  the odometer state 02698.  There is 102.698 miles on the car and approx 50,000 miles on the engine.  This car has a new wire harness installed.

This Coupe starts at the flick of the key and runs strong and smooth.  The car tracks straight and brakes straight, has good steering response and a nice ride. The C4 automatic transmission shifts very responsive and smooth. The engine compartment is clean, and detailed. Front drum brakes and rear drum brakes.  Suspension and is firm and responsive to the touch.  The car runs and drive like new.  Fly in and drive home this mechanically sound automobile.

TRUNK:

The trunk area is very clean, detailed, and looks great. There is not even a hint of rust.  No spare tire or jack.  No issues here, the pictures of the car speak for themselves.

OVERALL:

The car of course gets lots of looks, it's really what I'd call the perfect collector car: a super desirable 1968 Mustang Coupe that is a super nice driver with a 2013 restoration.  This car is mechanically sound and runs fantastic.  The title is free and clear in my hand.

2014 Holman & Moody 50th Anniversary TdF Ford Mustang

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

If you're a fan of Ford racing history, a Mustang worshiper or even just an avid follower of our yearly SEMA coverage, you may have heard the back story on the Race Red Mustang you see above. Back in 1964, Holman & Moody was tapped by the English Alan Mann Racing Team to race-prep three Mustangs for competition in the incredibly arduous 4,000-mile Tour de France Automobile rally. Competing mainly against Jaguar MkII saloons over 10 days and 17 stages, the H&M Mustangs took the top two places in the Touring class and the first-ever racing win for Ford's pony car.
Though the history of that first Mustang win hasn't been incredibly well known here in the States, the subsequent decades have seen plenty of racy versions of the car come and go. Last year at the SEMA show, we covered the brief debut of this living tribute to that piece of racing lore, the Holman & Moody 50th Anniversary TdF Mustang.
This limited-edition Mustang represents a kind of new venture for H&M, as the legendary racing shop has spent the last few decades earning its keep largely by restoring vintage racing cars. The urge to get back into the world of Ford and Mustang was powerful, however, what with the car's 50th anniversary looming and the current generation of 'Stang just about out the door.

Nuclear-powered concept cars from the Atomic Age

Thu, 17 Jul 2014

In the 1950s and early 60s, the dawn of nuclear power was supposed to lead to a limitless consumer culture, a world of flying cars and autonomous kitchens all powered by clean energy. In Europe, it offered the then-limping continent a cheap, inexhaustible supply of power after years of rationing and infrastructure damage brought on by two World Wars.
The development of nuclear-powered submarines and ships during the 1940s and 50s led car designers to begin conceptualizing atomic vehicles. Fueled by a consistent reaction, these cars would theoretically produce no harmful byproducts and rarely need to refuel. Combining these vehicles with the new interstate system presented amazing potential for American mobility.
But the fantasy soon faded. There were just too many problems with the realities of nuclear power. For starters, the powerplant would be too small to attain a reaction unless the car contained weapons-grade atomic materials. Doing so would mean every fender-bender could result in a minor nuclear holocaust. Additionally, many of the designers assumed a lightweight shielding material or even forcefields would eventually be invented (they still haven't) to protect passengers from harmful radiation. Analyses of the atomic car concept at the time determined that a 50-ton lead barrier would be necessary to prevent exposure.
