1967 Mustang Convertible Roadster with a Removable Fastback RoofSHOW IT, DRIVE IT, ENJOY IT…AN AWESOME MUSTANGMy name is John. Please call me at 801-680-8447 with any questionsThis is a beautifully restored example of 1967 Mustang Coupe that has been transformed into a convertible roadster with a removable Fastback roof. It runs great, drives great, looks great, and the attention it gets is extreme! No Disappointments: This Mustang is a great investment and a fun car to drive and enjoy. From the engine compartment to the trunk and everywhere in between, this is a clean car. The following will be a description of each area of the car, being as in-depth and accurate as possible. Please keep in mind that this is a classic car that is over 46 years old, and although I will describe everything as best I can, some small items may have been overlooked. BODY:As you can see from the photos, this Mustang has an absolute gorgeous body. The car was professionally painted in the green that you see now. A high-quality prep and application was professionally performed. The underside is all original sheet metal, with great frame rails, strong torque boxes and undercarriage. This is the best undercarriage that I have seen. The panels on this car show great fit and are straight. INTERIOR:
The 289 310 HP engine has been professionally rebuilt. There is 2630 miles on the rebuilt engine and 5 speed transmission. The car runs strong and fast. There are no fluid leaks, or smoke.
This Mustang starts at the flick of the key and runs strong and smooth. The car tracks straight and brakes straight, has good steering response and a nice ride. The 5-Speed transmission shifts very responsive and smooth. The engine compartment is clean, and detailed. Front drum brakes and rear drum brakes. Suspension and is firm and responsive to the touch. The car runs and drive like new. Fly in and drive home this mechanically sound automobile.
TRUNK:The trunk area is very clean, detailed, and looks great. There is not even a hint of rust. No issues here, the pictures of the car speak for themselves.
COMMON ROOF QUESTIONS:· How is the roof attached? Is the roof water-tight? The roof weighs 75 pounds when tried out. the roof comes off with 2 bolts and 2 wing nuts, and can be removed in less than 2 minutes. The top is held on by two bolts in the front and two wing nuts in the rear. (See pictures below) There is a metal header attached to the roof. On this metal header, there are two tinnerman nuts (mustang fender nut clips) The two bolts go thru the mustang convertible sunvisor bracket dowel pin guide hole and thread into the tinnerman nuts, The fiberglass roof up front is built to have a gasket that sits on the windshield stainless steel trim. The back of the roof is held on by two wing nuts. For mounting the back of the roof, two coupe sunvisor bracket rods are secured to the rear seat metal back frame. (Don't laugh . . . it works, its simple and inexpensive.) The sunvisor bracket rods so they could swivel out of the way when the top is in the down position. This keeps the top from tearing or catching the mounting rods. The sunvisor rods are tapped to accept a 5/16 wing nut. The sunvisor bracket is double nutted for a height adjustment of the roof. There is metal reinforcement attached to the roof where the wing nuts attach. The owner can adjust the double nut, thus adjust the roof height. I choose to have the roof sit 1/4 inch off the paint. I do not want to marr the paint. Weatherstripping can be attached to the roof where the roof sits on the convertible boot snap trim (hockey sticks). This weatherstripping will keep most of the water and wind noise out. When the new owner installed the rear glass, rain should not get into the car. However, if this car is taken to a car wash, and the pressure washer is aimed at the roof to body lines, or the window to roof lines, some water will get in, just like any old Mustang. In short, the roof can be as water tight as the new owner wants it to be, but keep in mind that the tighter the roof, the more chance for paint damage. · Where can I buy a roof? We own the mold and make the roof. The roofs price is $2,500 + $150 crate fee + shipping. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. This is for the fiberglass roof only. The back window, drip rail and window trim is not included. · Where can the other parts that are not included in this auction be purchased? Back Mustang Fastback rear glass, drip rail, rear window trim can purchased from any large Mustang Supplier such as: NPD and Mustangs Unlimited. · Can the trunk open with the roof on? The trunk can not be opened with the roof on. I have tried many modifications to make this possible. All of the modifications drastically changed the look of the convertible. OVERALL:The car of course gets lots of looks, it's really what I'd call the perfect collector car: a super desirable 1967 Mustang roadster with a removable Fastback roof. This car is mechanically sound and runs fantastic. The title is free and clear in my hand. Chip Ganassi Racing switches to the Ford EcoBoost-powered Riley Daytona Prototype
Wed, 06 Nov 2013Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced yesterday at Ford's SEMA press conference that it will field a Ford-Riley Daytona Prototype with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 in the 2014 United SportsCar Championship (USCC). CGRFS is the second team to commit to the new Ford-Riley car, behind Michael Shank Racing (which has already used the racecar to break a 26-year-old top-speed record at Daytona International Speedway).
"Over the last 10 seasons we have been able to experience a great deal of success in Grand-Am," Chip Ganassi says, "and now with the dawn of the new United SportsCar Championship we feel that Ford power will be a key ingredient to writing the next chapter of our sports car program."
In the last Grand-Am season, CGRFS raced a BMW-Riley Daytona Prototype. The team has won seven Daytona Prototype championships, all in the past ten years. Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas return as the team's prototype co-drivers, and will attend their maiden race in the Ford-Riley at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.
Ford cuts production at 5 plants, has big backload of cars including Mustang
Wed, Sep 20 2017DETROIT — Ford said on Tuesday it plans to idle five North American vehicle assembly plants for a total of 10 weeks to reduce inventories of slow-selling models. The plants affected include three assembly plants in the United States and two in Mexico, the company said in a statement. The vehicle models include the Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize sedans, the Ford Focus compact car, the Lincoln Continental and Ford Mustang, Ford Fiesta and the Ford Transit van. Ford said the Cuautitlan assembly plant that builds the Fiesta would be idled for three weeks. The Hermosillo, Mexico plant that builds the Fusion and MKZ and the Flat Rock, Michigan, factory that assembles Continentals and Mustangs will be idled for two weeks each. The Michigan Assembly plant that builds the Focus will be idled for one week, and the Kansas City assembly line that builds Transit vans will be down for two weeks. Ford did not give dates for the temporary shutdowns. The factories involved employ more than 15,000 people, according to Ford's website. The company did not say how many of those workers would face temporary layoffs. As of Sept. 1, Ford had 111 days' worth of unsold Mustangs, 87 days' supply of Fusions, and a 103 days' supply of Transit vans, according to Automotive News. Dealers had enough unsold Lincoln Continentals to last 162 days. Automakers aim for 65 to 70 days of inventory of most models. Ford and rival General Motors have wrestled most of this year to rein in high inventories of passenger cars as consumers have shifted to buying pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. Production cuts slice into revenue, but also could help the automakers avoid deeper price cuts on vehicles they can sell. Project Ugly Horse alive and kicking at Road & Track
Thu, 29 Aug 2013The hallways of the Autoblog campus are much quieter now that Zach Bowman has taken his prose, along with his welders, wrenches and hammers, over to the digital pages of Road & Track, but that doesn't mean our favorite project Mustang is gone forever. Project Ugly Horse is still coming along, and Zach has gifted us another update on his unfoxy Fox Body.
Last we saw of the Ugly Horse, Zach was strengthening up the '89 Mustang's chassis as he prepares to stuff the turbocharged, direct-injected EcoBoost engine of a Ford Focus ST under the hood. First things first, the old mill must go. Head on over to Road & Track to catch the latest chapter of Project Ugly Horse.
