1965 Ford Mustang Restored 5 Speed Great Driver on 2040-cars

Year:1965 Mileage:41000 Color: door side view mirrors
Location:

Portland, Oregon, United States

Portland, Oregon, United States

Up for consideration is a very nice restored 1965 Ford Mustang. Factory C code V8 that originally came with a 3 speed transmission. (Now has a really nice T-5 Tremec 5 speed) Tons spent on new parts and labor to get this beauty to the condition it is in. You could not build one for the price of this car for sure!

I have recently acquired this beautiful car and I am not a Mustang expert, but I will do my best to get you the best pictures along with a detailed list of new items used during the restoration of this Mustang.  I will let all the pictures and as well as the obvious hard work put into this car speak for itself. Please ask if you have any questions at all.  If you are interested in the car I highly recommend contacting me and I would be happy to tell you what I know and answer your questions. Please make sure you read my terms and conditions and this will be a great experience for both of us.

This is a very nice car that is done and ready to enjoy and drive. If you want to take it to another level I am sure that you can find things to do to it. That being said, I am not asking 15k for it. I have a very reasonable reserve and I will sell it. I am open to a " Buy it Now" it you want it. Just contact me and we can figure it out.

Please do not bid if you do not have the cash funds to follow through.

I am an easy person to deal with and my # is 503-729-4392

The car is for sale locally and I do reserve the right to end auction if it sells here. If you want the car contact me. I am very easy to work with and I will be happy to assist you in getting a Mustang.

  I will give you a description of the car as I see it;

SEE PHOTOS BELOW!!

Engine:

When you open the hood of this car the engine looks fantastic! It is very clean and detailed. It runs as good as it looks. It has many brand new parts and is in near perfect condition. It sounds great and does not seem to have any leaks at all or make any weird noise or smoke.  I am not claiming that it is rebuilt as I do not know, but it has been out and detailed like one would see from a nice rebuilder. The engine bay is very clean and tidy. (Please see all photos and ask if you would like more) New fuel tank installed!

Transmission:

This is where this Mustang has an advantage over most. This car has had the T-5 upgrade to a Rebuilt Tremec 5 speed from a 1993 GT Mustang. I took it to a transmission shop next to my work and they tell me that it was professionally done and it must have cost a significant amount to have completed. The car runs out perfect and shifts nice. The car is a factory 3 speed, you can tell by looking at the tag that came off the door.

Rear End:

The Mustang has a factory 8 inch rear end with a rebuilt unit that has 3:55 gears. The car will come with the factory original gear set.

Suspension:

This Mustang has had all the suspension upgraded using all new components. It has the “Grab a Track” spring and handling kit on the front and rear of the car along with “Grab a Track” shocks. The front steer linkage is all new also using “Grab a Track rebuild kit. This is a manual steering car. The steering wheel is new but smaller. I would change it to a bigger one.

Brakes:

The Mustang has all new brakes. In the front it has SSBC 4 piston disc brakes using all new parts. It has a new master cylinder w/ adj proportional valve all the way to new calipers and rotors. The rear drum brakes are also new. The park brake does "Not" work, not sure why it is all there an looks like new. The front brake system was an upgrade that cost $699.00

Interior:

It is hard to say what the best part of this car is, but I would have to say it could be the interior. It is the Pony Deluxe with all new parts. I do not think that anything was left to chance when they did the interior. It is Excellent!!  Everything inside this car looks new, with very little wear. The entire heater/vent system was replaced/restored and works great. All the gauges and lights seem to work. It has a nice matching console that looks cool. It has a decent stereo system with I pod hook up. (Still looks factory)

Body & Paint:

While this Mustang is very straight and looks fantastic, I would have to say that the paint job could have been a bit better. If you look you can see where there might have been a little better attention to the prep of the car. While it is a fairly recent job, there are some nicks and a few scratches on it. I would definitely say it is a very nice driver quality job, and you don’t have to be afraid of damaging an $8,000 paint job. Don’t get me wrong, this is a very straight car with nice sheet metal. I had a friend that knows Mustangs and owns a shop take a look at it and he told me that it is “a solid car that is worth the asking price all day long” After a close inspection they told me that there was only 2 signs of any previous damage. Under the driver’s seat there was some rust repair and the rear driver’s quarter had been fixed at one time. That is it.

The glass is in good original condition, the only thing I would do is put in a new windshield, it has several scratches and one rock chip. All the windows roll up well. And all the weather strip and felt is new.

Exhaust:

Exhaust is new and it goes out the back through a new GT lower valance panel with trumpet tips.

Tires and Wheels:

New Grand Am tires with American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. The rear Wheels are Brand New! The front tires are 205/60/15 and the rear tires are 235/60/15

Drivability:

The car runs and drives excellent! Starts every time without hesitation, runs strong and shifts great!  With the transmission and overdrive (5th gear) it runs at about 1700 rpm at 65 mph.

Overall a better than average Mustang and a very decent restoration! A lot of time and money went into this car.

Ford will build Hackmobile out of Transit Connect Wagon

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

What you see in the above image is a rendering of the Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon. What is that? It's a "mobile fabrication and hacking unit" that includes tools for metal- and woodworking, 3D and electronics fabrication, a three-axis CNC machine called "The Fabber," a video projector and screen, an air compressor, an 84x48-inch work surface that folds out like a Murphy bed and oh so much more. When not in use, all of the implements fold neatly into the back of Ford's award-winning van.
But perhaps the more important question is why is that? Because Make Magazine held an Ultimate Maker Vehicle Challenge in conjunction with Ford in which ten teams created were charged with creating "the ultimate Ford Transit Connect Wagon for the do-it-yourself enthusiast." Team Twin Cities Maker won the competition with the Hackmobile, and in addition to winning $10,000, Ford has declared it's actually going to build the thing - which is great, because if they can actually engineer a road-legal Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon as envisioned, the inevitable A-Team movie reboot might need to think about including it.
Check out the video below for a cheeky walk-through of the Hackmobile, and get all the particulars in the press release below that.

Ford Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator recalled

Wed, Apr 27 2016

The Basics: Ford will recall 201,900 examples of the 2011-2012 F-150, 2012 Expedition, 2012 Mustang, and 2012 Lincoln Navigator. The affected vehicles have the 6R80 transmission. Of the total, there are 84,000 of them in the United States and 17,900 in Canada. The Problem: The output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame can force the gearbox to downshift into first gear. If this happens at high speed, it could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. Injuries/Deaths: There are no reported injuries, but Ford know of three accidents related to this problem. The Fix: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to eliminate the problem, and they'll also replace the transmission lead frame. If You Own One: Ford will begin notifying affected customers by mail on May 23. Related Video: FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES THREE SAFETY RECALLS AND TWO SAFETY COMPLIANCE RECALLS IN NORTH AMERICA DEARBORN, Mich., April 27, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing three safety recalls and two safety compliance recalls in North America. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall and customer satisfaction program for certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles in North America to update powertrain control module software and inspect for certain diagnostic trouble codes Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 202,000 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for a potential issue with the output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on the speed of the vehicle at the time of the downshift, the driver could experience an abrupt speed reduction that could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of three reports of accidents and no injuries related to this condition. Affected vehicles are equipped with a 6R80 transmission and include certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through March 9, 2012; 2012 Ford Expedition vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Dec. 19, 2011; Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Feb.

Formula Drift kicks off 11th season on Streets of Long Beach

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

The 2014 Formula Drift series kicked off last weekend in Long Beach, and saw Chris Forsberg, who you'll recall went mad and drifted around a warehouse in an Infiniti M, take the title behind the wheel of his Hankook Tire Nissan 370Z (shown above).
Forsberg really ran away with the first round of competition, outscoring his closest opponent, second-place finisher Kenneth Moen and his Bridges Racing Nissan 240SX, by 20 points. Third place was 2013 championship winner Michael Essa and his Yokohama BMW M3, 30.5 points behind Forsberg.
In the manufacturers' title, Nissan took an early lead with 122 points, which isn't a huge surprise considering five of the top ten drifters were piloting either a Z or a product of the brand's S platform. Ford, which had two drivers (Justin Pawlak and Vaughn Gittin, Jr.) in the top ten, took home second place, while BMW is currently third in the manufacturers' standings.
