1965 Mustang Fastback built by famous riddler winner Roger Burman from Lakeside Rods & Rides.
This was a clean straight rust free car out of washington state that I bought over 12 years ago. I decided a few
years ago I wanted to build a full blown bad ass pro touring car with no budget. It started by having a custom
fabricated chromoly chassis built by a local chassis shop and then having it powder coated black. Once the chassis
was built the car was sent to Roger Burman in Iowa were the build began.
We first worked with Legendary car designer Eric Brockmeyer to put our and his vision in the design. The main
vision of the car was to build a very clean pro touring car with clean lines and keep it timeless. That's why we
stuck with Black/Black and Chrome. We knew I could never go out of style and would only look better with age.
The exterior:
The exterior of the car has 27 modifications that are almost unnoticeable. We took what already existed and just
really improved it. From the front of the car we lowered the front valance 5" and added a solid black satin mesh
insert. On the sides of the valance we recessed "4 fogs lights and at the bottom of the valance we molded on a
small tasteful lip. The front bumper was narrowed and bolts were shaved. We also shortened the sides about 2 1/2
inches and then backed it into the car for a very tight clean look. There is over $10k in bumpers alone. The grill
received the same black satin mesh and the small 3 fins on each side of the headlights were opened up and received
the mesh also. The trim In front of the mesh was smoothened out and painted black to disappear. The led headlights
are from a new style Harley.
The hood is all steel and custom fabricated with mesh insets custom latch with release from inside and finished in
gloss black on bottom same as top. The cowls and wipers removed and smoothened out. The side rockers we lowered
about 2" for a lower look and to cover up pinch rails and look factory.
The side indentations were factory buy only 1/2" deep. We decided to leave them were they were but just accentuate
them. So from the front of the car we started with the 1/2" indentation and pushed it into the doors gradually to
end up with about a 2" side air pocket by the back wheels. It looks factory and in the air pocket we added a mesh
insert. We even created a small vent all the way through to cool the back brakes.
Door handles and locks shaved with remote windows and trunk. One billet mirror painted black to match the car. The
side grill vents were frenched in also. Baer 6 piston brakes and 14" rotors.
Wheels are custom made by FORGE LINE. They have chrome step lips with a concave powered-coated gray center and a
center lock. No bolts. Fronts 19/9. Rears 21/11.
Wheels $11k alone.
The back of the car received a small 1 1/2 molded in wing on trunk. Custom made gas cap cover with a satin Mesh
rear panel.
The tail lights are custom made to look like the factory ones just much more modern with LED lights behind. Bumper
completely cut up and reworked to sit flush to body. Rear valance was lowered to match rockers with a license plate
insert. Custom powder coated exhausts.
Every single piece of the body was reworked and refitted with the straightest and smallest gaps possible. 1 million
times straighter and tighter body lines then when it came from the factory. The paint is the deepest black mirror
finish you have ever seen! The body lines from every angel are insane!
The interior:
The interior on this car is just as nice as the outside. It's all custom but very clean and not all complicated.
The dash is custom made with only 2 classic instruments gauges one for speed one for RPM. There is a small 3rd
gauge bellow dash showing gas, oil, ect. Behind the two gauges in the dash there's black satin mesh with
unnoticeable A/C vents coming through. On the passenger side there's also a black mesh insert with hidden A/C vents
behind. Top of the dash is finished in leather and suede while the front of the dash is finished in gloss black.
Ididit tilt steering column with a painted black MoMo steering wheel. A custom gloss black center column was made
with two hidden doors that hide all the gauges like Stereo , A/C, key switch, lights, windows, ect... So when
you are in the car you see no messy switches unless you need them. Custom made shifter and boot with a short shift
kit. The seats were made to be supportive and finished in leather and suede with chrome insert.
The door panels follow the theme of the seats and dash also finished in leather chrome and suede. Hidden door
poppers in doors. The back panel custom made with leather and metal inserts to cover up wheel tubs and JL audio
subs and speakers for the hidden Alpine system. Porsche black carpeting and custom made pedals.
Headliner pillars and roll-bar all covered in suede. Electric windows, Vintage AC, power steering. Shoulder mounted
seat belts.
Trunk also finished in same leather suede and chrome with hidden battery behind panels with remote or manual
release.
Under the hood:
The motor is made by Keith Craft racing, it is 427 cubic inches and it dynoed at 553hp/575Ft/lbs finished with
custom valve covers and a custom air intake behind a 750 holly carb.
Billet specialties powder coated serpentine pulley system. Custom made headers. T-56 6 speed tranny. Center force
clutch. Double electric aluminum radiators. Billet hinges. Everything clean and hidden under the hood with smooth
custom made panels for a extremely clean and simple look.
Under the car:
The underneath of the car is just as amazing and the exterior and interior. Custom made powder coated gloss black
chromoly light weight chassis. Smooth floors.
RIDETECH adjustable coil-overs. 9" ford rear, mini tubs, 31 spine axles. Denny's driveshaft. Custom exhausts.
Custom made gas tank. True track center section. Sweet narrowed power steering rack. Baer 14"slotted breaks.
Everything under the car has been made so there's nothing dragging low it's all pretty much flush with the chassis.
Very clean very cool.
Summary.
I've seen some cool mustangs built over the years by some good builders but most all look like they are going to
get dated fast with crazy colors and wild finishes. But this Mustang was built to be the opposite of that. Every
single piece of this car was well thought out and is very custom but not way over the top. This car has 4000-5000
hours of labor into it and many expensive parts and one off parts made for it. It took over 2 years and over
$400,000 to build.
I know it sounds high, but if you ever had a car of this level built you know what it takes.
Here's your opportunity to own the nicest, jump in, turn key, fastback mustang in the country

Ford Mustang EcoBoost has fake engine soundtrack

Wed, 24 Sep 2014

The 2015 Ford Mustang EcoBoost represents a huge change for the Blue Oval as the first pony car in decades to be available with a four-cylinder engine. But a recent tweet (below) from Road & Track raised our curiosity about the new vehicle. Editor Jason Cammisa pulled a fuse while driving the latest 'Stang with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, and he found that both the stereo and engine went quiet in the cabin. That indicated the coupe might have some form of artificial engine sound being piped in - a feature not previously heavily reported for the model. Autoblog spoke with Ford engineer Shawn Carney who confirmed that only the turbocharged four-cylinder Mustang comes with this system, called Active Noise Control.

First retail 2015 Ford Mustang headed to Barrett-Jackson

Fri, 20 Dec 2013

Want to be the very first person to own a 2015 Ford Mustang GT? Here's what you'll need to do: be in Scottsdale, AZ on January 18 for the Barrett-Jackson auction and bring a very big checkbook. Having a passion for charity isn't a bad idea either.
Yes, the first 2015 Mustang to be sold to the public will be crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale, with proceeds from the auction going to JDRF, the charity formerly known as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
"Ford Mustangs have always been among the most popular collector cars at Barrett-Jackson Collector Car events," said the president of Barrett-Jackson, Steve Davis. "While every collector wishes they had snapped up the first Mustang sold in 1964, this is an opportunity to realize that dream in a different way."

Ford Australia launches Falcon GT F 351, last of its line [w/video]

Sun, 15 Jun 2014

It's always best to go out with a bang rather than a whimper, and Ford Performance Vehicles is doing just that in Australia with the Falcon GT F 351. It's the most powerful road car the Aussie performance brand has ever made with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 pumping out 471 horsepower (351 kilowatts) and 420 pound-feet of torque. It's joined by the FPV Pursuit Ute with the same powerplant tuned to 422 hp and 402 lb-ft. Sadly, the last F in this Falcon's name stands for Final.
The GT F 351 is a monumental way to go out, though. It harkens back to the old days of Aussie muscle Fords, and the 351kw output is meant to reference the classic Falcon GT and its 351-cubic-inch V8. In addition to the massive power, the F has the improved suspension from the R-Spec model and Brembo brake calipers.
FPV is building just 500 GT F sedans for Australia and 50 more for New Zealand, plus 120 Pursuit Utes. They feature a blacked-out hood and black stripes over the hood and sides, plus gloss black accents around the headlights, door handles and mirrors.
