Truly One-of-a-Kind T-Bucket Custom Body and Custom Frame Dual-Carb 6 Cylinder and 4-Speed Note: This is NOT a 1927 model car (built within last few years), eBay insists on a year and if anything modern is entered they insist on a VIN number and I do not have that, so listed the car as a "27". Car is for local pick up only in Mountain Home, Arkansas (Baxter County). Car is sold as is where is. Vehicle is sold on a bill of sale (no title). Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. I’m helping a friend sell this car. The car is about 10 miles from my house, so please allow time for questions to get answered. The gentleman who was building this car is a full-time professional car builder / restorer. His work is top-notch. This car is a personal project that he started and hasn’t finished. Car is mocked up and rolling, but is not wired and has never been run. Body and Chassis: Years ago there was a local company selling T-Bucket kits and the owner created a handful (less than 20) of the long T-bucket body you see in the photos. Then he purposely destroyed the mold, so there would be no more. Of the 20, only 2 are known to have been built into cars, this one and another. When the T-bucket fella offered my friend a body to build, my friend asked for, and got, the “plug” that the mold was made from. (The plug will always be stronger than the mold or the castings and this body is that plug.) The fiberglass work on this car is thick and stout—no disappointments. Whereas a normal T-bucket has a short cab and a bucket in back, this design does not use a bucket, but instead extends the cab on back. This creates a unique look and allows you to have access to the extra storage room from inside the vehicle. However, my friend did not like the look of the extended body by itself and thought it needed a top to look complete, so he hand-built the fiberglass top you see—and that is one-of-a-kind, the other known car does not have this. The top is hinged and he intended to mount assist struts off the roll bar. I think he hit a homerun with the body and top, it has a very sinister look. The top has an opening for a cloth sun roof. Fabric top that runs on rails and wads at the back type of deal. Or leave open, as is. The front cowl was made for a mini sprint car that runs a motorcycle engine and my friend extended and reworked it to fit this body. He also set the engine back into the firewall for a custom look (see photos). The chassis is handmade out of 2x3 box steel. He drilled holes (enclosed) in the frame for style. · Rear end is a Chevy S-10 with 3:73 gears. · Custom pedal set was made and hung. · Wheels are powder-coated black (he made the front wheels for this car). · Gas tank (polymer) and battery box are there. Note: The front drum brakes do not come with the car. These were given to him by his father and he is keeping them. He will install a set of disc brakes and rotors on the front before the car is picked up (see last photo of axel). Discs and caliper set is brand new, but has surface rust from years of storage. Engine and Transmission: Engine is a Ford 300 6-cyclider out of a UPS truck (they have to replace engines after a certain amount of time, regardless, and he got this one that way). He has not heard this engine run, but has no doubt it is fine. At the same time, he was able to get 2 of the one-barrel carbs the engine runs off of and built a handmade intake for them. The carb linkage is already there and fabbed up. The header is a Borla from the UPS truck (number-one quality). Transmission is an aluminum Ford 4-speed manual out of an 80’s Fairmont. (He says 4th gear is basically overdrive). Driveshaft is on the car. To Finish: Pick out and install the gauges you want, dash is not drilled, so it’s perfect for whatever you want. Wire the car; there are kits that make this very simple these days, you can specify the fuse box and options you are running. Finish mechanical details, paint, and upholster as you like. You will need to apply for a special-construction vehicle title. If you have to have a V-8, the engine and trans that are here would be good trading material. This is an awesome project car for a hobbyist or father and son. If you build this car, it will be the only one in the world. How the 2015 Ford Mustang will save your knees
Sat, 21 Jun 2014The 2015 Mustang is one of the most hotly anticipated vehicles of the moment, and Ford continues to leak out interesting little details about its newest pony car. The latest info doesn't have anything to do with its quarter-mile time or handling, but if any of that goes drastically wrong, the innovative new glovebox-mounted airbag may prevent passengers from knee injuries.
All variants of the 2015 Mustang get the active knee airbag as standard, and it's the first vehicle in Ford's lineup to receive the system. The setup is actually quite simple and ingenious. The glovebox is made from a plastic outer panel that is attached to the inner door. Sandwiched between them is this new injection-molded plastic bladder that folds flat when in use. If the passenger-side airbag deploys, the system springs into action to act as a cushion for your knees. Compared to a traditional knee airbag that has to fully inflate, this arrangement is 65 percent lighter and can use a 75 percent smaller inflator. It's also basically invisible when you look at the glovebox door.
Ford spokesperson Ed Saenz declined to tell Autoblog whether the system will appear in other vehicles in the Blue Oval's lineup but said, "We're considering other applications." 2015 Ford Expedition
Mon, 21 Jul 2014While the tide of bigger-is-better SUVs has been in recession since, well, the recession, fullsize utes are still very much with us. Conservative creatures that have been loathe to evolve, fullsize SUVs nonetheless remain enduringly popular among large families, livery customers, and anyone with lots of friends, relatives, and toys to tug around. With respect to Toyota and Nissan, the only players that really matter in the segment are the new-for-2015 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban, the GMC Yukon/Yukon XL, and this truck: the Ford Expedition, the latest evolution of which we just drove for the first time at a press preview in West Virginia.
Unlike the General Motors utilities, the standard Expedition and the long-wheelbase Expedition EL are not all-new, but rather are heavily refreshed versions of the same basic truck Ford started selling way back in 2007. The front fascia is where most of the exterior update happens for 2015, with a new three-bar grille design, halogen projector headlamps, and new bumper design with available LED foglamps. Despite all the new bits, the facelift breaks exactly zero ground in terms of design; in fact, it already looks dated, and will only look older once the macho 2015 F-150 bows later this year. Even less has changed out back, where the tailgate gets a wide chrome band spanning the taillamps and a new chrome exhaust tip. Other exterior changes are generally limited to colors and an all-new wheel lineup that includes a gleaming set of six-spoke 22-inch polished wheels on high-end models.
Speaking of high-end models, a new Platinum trim is positioned above the cowboy-spec King Ranch model for 2015. Both the Platinum and King Ranch get their own color combos and exterior trim finishes (satin metal for the Platinum, chrome everywhere and ginormous badges for the King Ranch) and posh, leather-lined interiors with their own aesthetic. The Expedition family also now includes a price-leading XL model, as well as XLT and Limited grades.
The USPS needs 180,000 new delivery vehicles, automakers gearing up to bid
Wed, Feb 18 2015Winning the New York City Taxi of Tomorrow tender was a huge prize for Nissan, even though the company is still working through the process of claiming its prize. The United States Postal Service has begun the process to take bids for a new delivery vehicle to replace the all-too-familiar Grumman Long Life Vehicle, and that will be a much larger plum for the automaker who wins it, perhaps worth more than six billion dollars. The Grumman LLV is an aluminum body covering a Chevrolet S-10 pickup chassis and General Motors' Iron Duke four-cylinder engine. The USPS bought them from 1987 to 1994, and the 163,000 of them still in service are a monumental drain on postal resources: they get roughly ten miles to the gallon instead of the quoted 16 mpg, drink up more than $530 million in fuel each year, and their constant repair needs like the balky sliding door and leaky windshields have led the service to increase the annual maintenance budget from $100 million to $500 million. A seat belt is about as modern as it gets for safety technology, and the USPS says that assuming things stay the same, it can't afford to run them beyond 2017. Last year it put out two triage requests for proposals seeking 10,000 new chassis and drivetrains for the Grumman and 10,000 new vehicles. The LLV is also too small for the modern mail system in which package delivery is growing and letter delivery is declining. The service says it doesn't have a fixed idea of the ideal "next-generation delivery vehicles," but it listed a number of requirements in its initial request and is open to any proposal. Carriers have some suggestions, though, saying they want better cupholders, sun visors that they can stuff letters behind, a driver's compartment free of slits that can swallow mail, and a backup camera. The request for information sent to automakers pegs the tender at 180,000 vehicles that would cost between $25,000 and $35,000 apiece, and it will hold a conference on February 18 to answer questions about the contract. GM is the only domestic maker to avow an interest, while Ford and Fiat-Chrysler have remained cagey. Yet with a possible $6.3 billion up for grabs and some new vans for sale that would be advertised on every block in the country, we have a feeling everyone will be listening closely come February 18.
