New $4,000 Engine ~ For Sale By Car's Third Owner Who Has Owned It 42 Years! on 2040-cars

Year:1926 Mileage:5
Location:

This 1926 Model T Coupe is "parade ready" and is reluctantly being offered for sale by its owner.  I am helping a friend who is approaching 80 years old and for health reasons has reached that dreaded time of life where he must dispose of his cars because he is moving into a retirement home.  He has owned this Model T for 42 years (bought it in 1972) and he estimates that during his 42 years of ownership he has driven it a total of maybe 1,000 miles puttering around the block with his grandkids or driving in a parade.

He indicates that he bought it from a man who owned it for two years who said he bought it from the original owner which makes him the third owner - YOU CAN BE THE FOURTH OWNER!!!  The car has never been disassembled for restoration, but rather had a body-on paint job in 1981 which still shines and a fresh interior was installed by a professional upholsterer.  With just a little bit of elbow grease, some wet sanding and some polishing compound, the paint should shine like a new dime!

The engine is the original engine which recently had a professional rebuild with all new babbitt by Ross Lilleker of Lilleker Antique Auto Restorations in College Station Texas at a cost of over $4,000 (we have all the receipts for work done) and since the engine was installed in the car it has probably not been driven over five miles!!!

If you've always wanted a nice Model T Coupe, here's a good one that no one messed up trying to take apart and restore.

* The "Balloon Cord" tires were bought from Snyders Antique Auto Parts and probably have less than 15 miles on them since new.
* It has a new Exide battery installed in the last 3 weeks at a cost of $125.
* It has an electric starter however it comes with the original hand crank should the need ever arise or if you want to impress your friends and show them how it was "done in the good old days".
* The car has always been stored in an insulated garage and has been "pampered" its whole life.
* The car comes complete with a new reproduction sunvisor which was bought from Snyders Antique Auto but never installed.
* Comes with copy of 300 page Model T Ford Service Manual.

The car was purchased in Kansas in 1972 and still has a clear Kansas title even though the current owner has lived in Texas for many years.  "Whizz" was the owner's nickname and the personalized Kansas Plate "WHIZZ" is an antique plate which is good for life.

We are starting the bidding at $6,000 with NO RESERVE - the high bidder gets it!!!  Don't let this chance of a lifetime pass you by.  The winning bidder must deposit $1000 via Pay Pal within 48 hours of the end of the auction and the balance either in cash or certified funds will be due when the car is picked up in Georgetown, Texas.  Georgetown is 25 miles north of Austin on Interstate 35.  It is the buyer's responsibility to arrange shipment if not picked up in person.

If you are one of those "last 60 second bidders" be sure to add it to your WATCH LIST for next Sunday night so you won't forget - it would be difficult to find a nicer Model T Coupe than this one.  Good luck - feel free to ask any questions and I will get you an answer.  It is offered locally as well so we reserve the right to end the auction early should a local buyer make us an offer we can't refuse.

2015 Ford F-150 to get 2.7-liter EcoBoost?

Mon, 30 Dec 2013

As we prepare for the arrival of the all-new, next-generation Ford F-150, rumors about the new truck are picking up steam. Naturally, many of said rumors aren't just related to the way the truck will look (it's expected to take design cues from the Atlas concept shown above), they're tied to what's going to motivate the Blue Oval mainstay, with Ford's EcoBoost range likely to play an increasingly key role. While we're still expecting the current 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 to retain its position as a premium alternative to Ford's naturally aspirated V6 and V8, a Canadian automotive news site is proposing that the Dearborn automaker is also preparing a new, more fuel-efficient downsized EcoBoost option.
Autos.ca is reporting that a new, 2.7-liter, twin-turbocharged V6 could find its way into the lighter, aluminum-intensive truck. The new engine supposedly makes use of asymmetrical turbos to generate 320 horsepower and 370 pound-feet of torque - substantially more impressive numbers than the current 3.7-liter base engine's 302 ponies and 278 lb-ft - while offering improved fuel economy and emissions. The new 2.7 EcoBoost (internally dubbed "Nano") isn't expected to supplant the naturally aspirated V6 as the F-150's base engine, it's expected to slot in above directly it.
Naturally, we're prescribing more than a few grains of salt to go with these rumors, at least until Ford debuts the next F-150 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, a reveal we'll be covering in a mere two weeks.

Truckmakers squabbling over who can sell Jimmy Fallon a pickup

Sat, 08 Mar 2014

Snagging a celebrity endorsement is a big deal for automakers, as evidenced by the recent efforts of the Detroit Three to try and woo The Tonight Show's newest host, Jimmy Fallon, into one of their trucks.
After announcing during Wednesday night's show that he was in the market for a pickup truck, Fallon set off a firestorm of efforts on Twitter, with both Ford and Chevrolet petitioning the funnyman to test out a truck. According to Ad Age, Ford recommended the King Ranch edition of its next-generation F-150 while the show was still airing. Chevy, meanwhile, waited until the next morning to pitch a Silverado to Fallon.
The winner of this social media feeding frenzy, though, was Ram. Promoting a variation of its "Guts, Glory, Ram" tagline, the Auburn Hills-based manufacturer created the hashtag #GUTSGLORYFallon. It even went so far as to park a Ram 1500 outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York, where The Tonight Show is filmed. On the back of the Ram sat a sign, reading "Big enough, Jimmy? Test it out," referencing a joke from the Wednesday show.

Ford starting up 2.0L EcoBoost engine production in Ohio

Fri, 22 Feb 2013

Joe Hinrichs, Ford's President of The Americas (pictured above), announced today that in late 2014, the automaker will be building the 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder at its Cleveland Engine Plant, a move requiring a $200-million investment and the hiring of 450 new employees. European-built Ford products will continue to source this engine from the Valencia, Spain plant where all of these EcoBoost four-cylinder engines are currently built, and the new Cleveland engines will be used for all North American-made models.
Ford is planning to build its popular EcoBoost engines regionally to maximize production capacity and meet customer demand. Last year, Ford sold 334,364 vehicles with EcoBoost engines in the US alone, and that number is expected to swell to more than 500,000 by the end of this year, with global sales expected to total 1.6 million. By 2015, Ford says that 95 percent of its nameplates will offer an EcoBoost engine.
One such vehicle that could be adding an EcoBoost engine, according to Automotive News, is none other than the 2015 Ford Mustang. The report says that Ford could use either the 2.0-liter EcoBoost or an upcoming 2.3-liter EcoBoost in the sixth-generation pony car.
