Ford Model T Roadster Speedster Runabout Convertible, titled in Michigan as a 1912 Model T, historic vehicle.  Item is in very good condition for it's age, four cylinder engine has a Sherman Super Fire head with Stromberg fuel system.  Item does have a hand crank (never used by current owner) and key start upgrade with 12 V system.  Item has a hand activated parking brake, three (3) floor board pedals for braking and changing gears, a 2-speed rear-end shifter located between seats, spark advance and throttle located on steering column, left and right sides respectively.  Item includes parade siren, awooga horn, factory jack, lug wrench, spare tire with cover and driving goggles.  Item was appraised at $13,500.00 in it's current condition.

Item appears to have been driven frequently by previous ownership, as it has twelve (12) Santa Clara, CA Model T Club Annual 200 mile endurance run event plaques affixed to underside of trunk box lid, as shown in images.  Item starts and drives (if you know how).  Item has been stored indoors since titled in Michigan.  Item leaks a little oil, paint has chips missing, driver seat has a few tears in it, has relatively new tires, rims are in great shape and brakes work well.  Item is an ideal candidate for restoration or can be driven as is as a weekend runabout or parade favorite.  Item mileage is shown as 206.7, this is likely not actual mileage given it's age and presumed participation in endurance events, seller cannot confirm or deny mileage or endurance event participation.

Item appears to have been modified from original condition by previous ownership and likely incorporates vehicle components from a model year(s) other than 1912 (for example  1917 radiator cap, 1918 gas tank, 1926 wheels and late teens wooden dash, all dates are estimates).  Item is being sold in "as is" condition, with no warranty stated or implied.  Item will be sold on Michigan title, or on bill of sale, which ever buyer prefers.  Item is available for local pickup only.  Buyer is responsible for making pickup and/or shipping arrangements and all associated costs.  Seller will assist Buyer with loading of vehicle onto trailer.  Buyer must contact Seller to discuss pickup/shipping arrangements prior to close of auction.  Seller will store vehicle indoors for up to 90 days from auction close, at no cost to Buyer.

This 2,000-hp Mustang is in serious need of wheelie bars

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

The Ford Mustang on the right is drag racing with the standard technique. The Mustang on the left, driven by David Measell, is using a new "rear bumper only" technique that evidently surprised everyone at the South Georgia Motorsports Park strip - including Measell.
Measell said his outfit just bought the car the week before the event, noting that it has more than 2,000 horsepower. Speaking of his "flying" run, Measell said, "We turned it up to dip on down," by which he meant they turned up the power in order to get his time down. Turns out all that power and all that traction sent the nose straight up into the air almost as soon as the race began.
He told an interviewer afterward that this was his first race in a "regular car" since he normally drives a pro-mod. "I like my wheelie bars," he concluded. You can see how he got there in the video below.

What's in a trademark? Sometimes, the next iconic car name

Thu, 07 Aug 2014

The United States Patent and Trademark Office is a treasure trove for auto enthusiasts, especially those who double as conspiracy theorists.
Why has Toyota applied to trademark "Supra," the name of one of its legendary sports cars, even though it hasn't sold one in the United States in 16 years? Why would General Motors continue to register "Chevelle" long after one of the most famous American muscle cars hit the end of the road? And what could Chrysler possibly do with the rights to "313," the area code for Detroit?

Ford Mustang GT350 seen and heard in motion for the first time

Fri, 27 Sep 2013

We just recently saw our first spy shots of the next-gen hi-po Ford Mustang slated to replace the Shelby GT500, but now we're getting our first look - and listen - of prototypes captured on video. Mustang6g.com has the video (along with some different spy shots), which show that, if nothing else, SVT knows how to tune an exhaust system. The :50 mark is a good example of this, but fast-forward to around 2:00 where the driver revs the engine and really gets on the throttle hard taking off from a stop.
There's still no definitive evidence that the next-gen SVT Mustang - said to be called GT350 - will be naturally aspirated, but it sounds just as menacing as the current Shelby GT500. While the video posted below exhibits the sort of quality that is to be expected from someone driving while trying to film someone who is attempting to elude being filmed, it's still exciting to see and hear this new Mustang in motion.
