1926 Model Tt Truck Closed Cab on 2040-cars

Year:1926 Mileage:87500
Location:

Wilmington, North Carolina, United States

Wilmington, North Carolina, United States

This is a 1926 Model TT Truck. It's 88 years old. It is not perfect, but very cool for parades and such. It has a removable bench seat on the bead that can comfortably seat six to eight adults. It has a factory Ford Truck Bed that has had the wood replaced and also the rails.

I have had the engine rebuild by a Model T Garage in Fayetteville NC. last fall 2013. I can give you $7000.00 +/- tickets for this work for your files. It has new babbit. .040 aluminum pistons, recharged magnets, new valves and more. I can give you the full breakdown if you wish, or the mechanic's number and he can tell you everything. It also has new Kevlar bands in the transmission. The magneto will put out near 38 volts.

I have just installed $975 worth of tires and tubes last Christmas before our annual Christmas Parade.

There are a few things that need fixing: It needs a new gas tank and gas line which is available for less than $300. The in line fuel filter I have installed gets hot and vapor locks and the truck cuts off. When it cools down, it runs like a champ again. It's generator is not charging and needs attention, It may be the cut out, it may be the brushes need adjusting, it may need to be rebuilt. It stopped working when we jumped it with 12 volts, because the brake light was left on and run the battery down, not to smart on my part. The new leather straps that I installed to let the door windows up and down need to be trimmed and finessed so they will work a little better.

Over all, this truck is in pretty good shape for its age. I don't see any more than surface rust here and there, but you be the judge. It's a very cute truck that you can be proud of.

The coils are wooden and have been checked and seem to be ok. It has a new 8 volt battery.

I have a Clear North Carolina Title in hand. True mileage unknown. Engine has less than 50 miles. No speedometer but required to put something.

Please contact me and come and look at the TT Truck before you buy it if you wish. It's located near Wrightsville Beach on the East Coast.

On May-07-14 at 04:34:57 PDT, seller added the following information:

This Truck does have an older paint job and I'm not sure know how old. It looks very presentable. I don't want to leave the impression that it is in it's original Henry Ford Paint. Please ask any questions and I will get back to you. If you need any additional photos, let me know what you need.

Ford 'working very hard' on F-150 hybrid

Thu, Dec 4 2014

The lighter, aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 gets (at best) 26 miles per gallon. That's not bad for a truck that size – and we should always remember that improving gas guzzlers can make a big difference – but what if the popular truck came with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain? How efficient would that be? We heard Ford talking about such a vehicle last year, and now we learn that Ford is still "working very hard" to make a F-150 hybrid happen. You want details? Well, we all want details, but those will not be coming for quite some time. Last year, Ford's global product development chief, Raj Nair, said that the company was planning to have hybrid pickups and hybrid SUVs on sale by 2020. With fuel prices dropping, Nair is now saying that a hybrid F-150 makes more sense, financially, than a diesel, but Ford could make both options available, depending on customer demand. The diesel wouldn't require all that much work, Nair said, since "we've got diesels in the portfolio." To date, the only hybrid F-150s we've seen have been conversions, often PHEVs, like this example from HVET or this one from Quantum. Pickup trucks from other manufacturers haven't been greeted with huge sales numbers. General Motors stopped making its big two-mode hybrids and cancelled the next-gen program.

1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express in Generation Gap showdown with 1933 Ford Pickup

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

Auto enthusiasts love a good debate, whether it's Mustang versus Camaro or Ferrari against Lamborghini. But how about a battle between two very different vintages of classic pickup trucks? In this case, the fight is between a 1979 Dodge Li'l Red Express and a 1933 Ford Model 46 truck with a flathead V8.
The shootout comes courtesy of the internet series Generation Gap, and its concept is super-simple. One guy prefers classics, and the other likes newer rides. They choose a category, pick two vehicles and put them head to head. In this case, neither is exactly modern, though. The Ford is more than old enough to receive Social Security checks, and the Dodge is hardly a young whippersnapper.
Other than both being pickups, these two models were made to serve very different functions. The Li'l Red Express was basically the progenitor of today's muscle trucks, with a big V8 that made it one of the quickest new models in its day (admittedly, 1979 was a rough time for automotive performance). On the other hand, the '33 Ford was just meant to work, with little pretense for anything else. One of the hosts describes it as "the simplest, most difficult" vehicle he's driven because of the tricky double clutchwork necessary to shift gears. Scroll down to watch the video and try to decide which of these two American classics you would rather have in your garage.

Toyota, Ford not interested in FCA merger

Mon, Jun 15 2015

Sergio Marchionne will preach the benefits of mergers to anyone who'll listen, but his calls for industry consolidation may be falling on deaf ears. At least, that is, the ears of those who the Fiat Chrysler chief would most like to bend. Not only is General Motors uninterested, but according to The Detroit News, neither are Toyota or Ford. "It's something we would not be interested in," said Toyota's North American chief Jim Lentz, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Toyota Technical Center. "At 10 million (vehicles) we have enough scale right now to do what we need to do. There really would be no advantage for us." Toyota isn't the only one unenthused by the prospect of merging with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The Detroit News also reports that Ford, though it may yet to have been approached by Marchionne, wouldn't be interested either. "We're not a suitor for FCA," said Ford CFO Bob Shanks. "We don't see that type of opportunity as one that applies to us." With GM, Toyota, and Ford expressing disinterest in Marchionne's merger idea, the FCA chief will likely start looking elsewhere – or look for other ways to compel his primary candidate to reconsider. He may eventually find a partner – more likely in the Far East or within Europe – but it may not take the form of the major player Sergio has hoped for.
