1926 Model T Ford Roadster Pickup Truck

We are offering for Auction here this week my father's 1926 Model T Ford Roadster Pickup Truck which is a factory built pickup that was only offered in 1926 & 27.  All other pickups were conversions that were assembled after they left the factory.  The VIN / Engine # is 14236540 and is located behind the water pump so I could not provide a picture of this number for verification, although the last three numbers are visible and they do match up.  The truck is in very good running condition and the only reason my father has decided to regretfully sell it is that he fell and broke his leg this spring and at 87 years old he has lost enough mobility that he just can't get in and out of the truck anymore to enjoy having it.  So now he's decided to pass it along to someone who can still use and enjoy it like he did for so many years.

This Model T Pickup was restored completely by a gentleman in the Chicago area about 16  years ago, (+/-) and my father purchased it from him about 14 years ago.  The truck originally came from northern Minnesota before restoration, which is why it has been outfitted with the front fender mounted running lights which was a requirement in that state back at the time the truck was still used there.

One other unique feature on this truck is the glass oiler reservoirs mounted at the top of each king pin (see picture) for more efficient lubrication of the front steering components.  This truck is in very good running condition with all mechanical items working just as they should and has had an after market "flat tube" radiator core installed in it as this allows the truck to run much cooler than the old original "round tube" core that it came with. The radiator cap is an original "Moto Meter" temperature gauge type cap and works well.  It comes with an original Stewart Warner  hand operated "Ahhooga" horn mounted to the drivers door and has the factory equipment electric horn with the button located on the steering column.  This truck is equipped with an electric starter which makes start up a one man operation and much easier.  A new 6 volt 650 cca battery was installed just last month so you should be in good shape  for the next five years or so with that. There are no mechanical issues that I'm aware of to report and the only flaw on the truck is some deterioration in the paint and metal also I believe on the passenger side only at the bottom of the body in the area of what I would call the "rear cab corner".  Along with some similar but much smaller areas along the bottom of the body from under the passenger door to up near the firewall area in what I would call the "rocker panel area".  I posted pictures of these areas that have flaws in them and there is also a couple of small scratches near the bottom lip of the rear passenger side fender.

If the truck sells for the reserve price or higher we will be including all the tools from the fender mounted tool box on the drivers side as well as a quantity of extra original & NOS parts that he has acquired over the years.  The tool box contains: An original "Ford" oil can - "Ford" brass tube tire pump - A "Ford" mechanical jack - Two pouches of original "Ford" wrenches (about 10 wrenches) - A set of old original ignition wrenches - and a fuel "dip stick" gauge for checking fuel level - and lastly an old brass fire extinguisher.  These items are all shown in one picture along with another picture of all the extra spare parts that will come with the truck also.

PAYMENT:   I will require a $ 500.00 deposit through PayPal within 48 hours of the end of the auction from the winning bidder.  The balance needs to be paid in full within 10 days or at the time of pick up which ever is sooner.  Payment will need to be made by Cash, a Bank Cashiers Check from a recognized US Bank, or by wire transfer into my fathers Bank account, and I will need to verify deposit of all funds before the truck leaves my location.

SHIPPING:  This vehicle is being offered for local pick up at our location only. (49755 Levering, Michigan)  Although I will be happy to help with loading onto your trailer or a transport companies trailer if you make all shipping arrangements with this carrier. I can be available seven days a week for loading as long as I know when you or your carrier will be here for pick up.

I hope I've covered everything but please feel free to contact me with any questions or additional picture requirements you may have and I will do my best to accomadate you.

I thank you for your interest in this nice old Model T and wish you the best of luck in bidding. Thanks,  Tom

** Mileage is not correct, (stupid ebay requirement)  Actual mileage is unknown due to mechanical limitations.

Ford hybrids getting update to improve fuel economy

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

Ford has announced that it is introducing "calibration updates designed to improve on-road fuel economy for owners of the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid, 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid and 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid."
We can speculate that these changes are at least due in part to lawsuits over mileage claims of hybrid vehicles. The automaker is enhancing 2013 models starting in August by raising their electric cruising speed to 85 miles per hour from 62 mph, optimizing the use of active grille shutters and the climate control system, shortening the engine warm-up period by 50 percent and reducing electric fan speed to minimize the fan's energy consumption.
It bears mentioning that Ford is doing pretty well in the US electrified vehicle market this year. The company claims to have grown its share in the segment by 12 points to 16 percent while taking a high number of Toyota Prius trade-ins in the process. Conversely, Toyota has experienced a five-percent drop in new-Prius sales over the same period. Additionally, Ford states that it has increased its share of the US vehicle market by one percent this year, more than any full-line automaker.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

Mon, Apr 6 2015

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlamp/exterior lighting Date Investigation Opened: APR 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15002 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition from the North Carolina Consumers Council, Inc. requesting a defect investigation of an alleged defect condition resulting in headlight and/or exterior lighting failure on 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles. The petition letter is attached for review. The petitioner alleges a defect in the lighting control module that powers the headlights which can result in the loss of vehicle headlights and/or all exterior lighting while driving. ODI has previously investigated this issue under PE08-066 which was closed without a defect finding.

Ford Mustang, F-150, Expedition, and Lincoln Navigator recalled

Wed, Apr 27 2016

The Basics: Ford will recall 201,900 examples of the 2011-2012 F-150, 2012 Expedition, 2012 Mustang, and 2012 Lincoln Navigator. The affected vehicles have the 6R80 transmission. Of the total, there are 84,000 of them in the United States and 17,900 in Canada. The Problem: The output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame can force the gearbox to downshift into first gear. If this happens at high speed, it could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. Injuries/Deaths: There are no reported injuries, but Ford know of three accidents related to this problem. The Fix: Dealers will update the powertrain control module software to eliminate the problem, and they'll also replace the transmission lead frame. If You Own One: Ford will begin notifying affected customers by mail on May 23. Related Video: FORD MOTOR COMPANY ISSUES THREE SAFETY RECALLS AND TWO SAFETY COMPLIANCE RECALLS IN NORTH AMERICA DEARBORN, Mich., April 27, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing three safety recalls and two safety compliance recalls in North America. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall and customer satisfaction program for certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles in North America to update powertrain control module software and inspect for certain diagnostic trouble codes Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 202,000 2011-2012 Ford F-150, and 2012 Ford Expedition, Ford Mustang and Lincoln Navigator vehicles for a potential issue with the output speed sensor on the vehicle's transmission lead frame. Under certain conditions, the transmission controls could force a temporary downshift into first gear. Depending on the speed of the vehicle at the time of the downshift, the driver could experience an abrupt speed reduction that could cause the rear tires to slide or lock up. This condition could result in loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Ford is aware of three reports of accidents and no injuries related to this condition. Affected vehicles are equipped with a 6R80 transmission and include certain 2011-2012 Ford F-150 vehicles built at Dearborn Truck Plant and Kansas City Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through March 9, 2012; 2012 Ford Expedition vehicles built at Kentucky Truck Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Dec. 19, 2011; Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, Aug. 19, 2011 through Feb.
