Road Ready 1923 Ford Steel Model T Hot Rod
This is a well built hot rod. It was built for my personal use and safety and I have put on a lot of miles with few issues. As you can see by the pictures it has a great paint job, excessive chrome and all the vintage speed parts you would expect.  It has never been on a trailer, it has never been in a car show but it is respected by outlaw bikers, disdained by Corvettes and acknowledged by European sport cars. Be the first to take it to cruise night or display it at a car show. Cops generally turn a blind eye to it.  As a street sprint it weighs in at less than 1700 pounds and just plain hooks-up and goes. As a road warrior it has highway gears so this little rod loves to cruise.  It does have a flat windshield and in 1923 Ford never made a car to exceed 40 mph but this one will double that easy.  I have sandblasted the cab, frame and just about all parts. Safety and reliability was my main objective in this and all my builds.

The Build Story
In 1965 a California man and his son started collecting and mocking up the little hot rod. The drive train of a 10 year old 1955 Chevrolet Corvette was purchased for the build. The rear axle, transmission and engine were the main components of the purchase. The amazing part of the story is that the engine is a 195 hp 265 cubic inch V8 from 1 of 700 1955 Corvettes made! That means the valve covers and many of the other parts are original 1955 Corvette. The four 97 Stromberg carbs are mounted on an early aftermarket intake. The son moved the project to Montana where it sat in dry storage until 1990 when it was purchased and re-conditioned. There is no rust or patches on the all steel body, it is just that good!

Ford confirms 1.5-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine for 2014 Fusion

Thu, 11 Apr 2013

Earlier this week, reports were swirling 'round the internet about the 2014 Ford Fusion getting a new 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. That was... half correct. Ford today confirmed that the 2014 Fusion is, in fact, getting a new 1.5-liter EcoBoost mill, but it has four cylinders, not three.
The new 1.5-liter engine will be the fifth EcoBoost powerplant from Ford Motor Company. Initially to be built at the automaker's Craiova, Romania plant, it will also be offered in the Fusion's twin, the Mondeo, in other markets. This engine will debut at the Shanghai Motor Show next month, and the 1.5-liter is of particular importance in the Chinese market - there is significant tax relief in the People's Republic for vehicles powered by engines with a capacity of 1.5 liters or less.
At a media briefing Thursday, Ford declined to divulge exact power or fuel economy numbers, though Joe Bakaj, vice president of powertrain engineering, told Autoblog that power output should be similar to that of the current 1.6-liter inline-four, and that overall efficiency will be "better than the 1.6." Our earlier report stated that the 1.5-liter four will produce 177 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque - losses of 1 hp and 7 lb-ft versus the 1.6-liter engine. Ford states that the 1.5-liter four will feature many of the same technologies used on the company's 1.0-liter EcoBoost inline-three, including an integrated exhaust manifold that recaptures much of the engine's heat.

NHTSA investigating 500k Ford and Mercury cars for lighting failures

Mon, Apr 6 2015

The Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis might be long gone as new models in showrooms, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration might check them out yet again for a potential problem. At the urging of North Carolina Consumers Council, the agency may open another investigation into the front lighting control module on vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years, and NHTSA estimates the issue could affect 517,945 vehicles. If the module stops working, it can cause a complete failure of all forward lighting, including the headlights. NHTSA previously investigated the issue in 2008 and 2009 but found no need for a recall, according to Bloomberg. Ford also extended the warranty on the part to 15 years or 250,000 miles. To prompt this new request, the North Carolina Consumers Council received a letter from a woman experiencing the module's failure. Upon further investigation, the council found 604 complaints of this problem on NHTSA's website, including seven crashes. Furthermore, the group has alleged that dealers told customers that the parts to perform the replacement weren't available, despite the extended warranty. According to the government agency, "A defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and make a grant or deny decision." Ford spokesperson Kelli Felker tells Autoblog via email, "We will cooperate with NHTSA, as we always do." You can read the council's complete letter to the Feds in PDF format, here. INVESTIGATION Subject : Loss of headlamp/exterior lighting Date Investigation Opened: APR 01, 2015 Date Investigation Closed: Open NHTSA Action Number: DP15002 Component(s): EXTERIOR LIGHTING All Products Associated with this Investigation Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) FORD CROWN VICTORIA 2003-2005 MERCURY GRAND MARQUIS 2003-2005 Details Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company SUMMARY: The Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received a petition from the North Carolina Consumers Council, Inc. requesting a defect investigation of an alleged defect condition resulting in headlight and/or exterior lighting failure on 2003-2005 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis vehicles. The petition letter is attached for review. The petitioner alleges a defect in the lighting control module that powers the headlights which can result in the loss of vehicle headlights and/or all exterior lighting while driving. ODI has previously investigated this issue under PE08-066 which was closed without a defect finding.
