This is a 1920 Model T Ford 1-Ton Truck.  My grandfather bought it in the early 1970's from a nearby small town and brought it home and restored it.  This truck was still in service delivering groceries when he got it!  Everything is original and it still possesses all of its original body parts.  This is a Ford Body Truck.  It was in really good shape when he got it.  It was never wrecked and did not have any major dents.  It was also very solid and has not had any rust repair.  There is pitting inside the cab but the truck is otherwise rust free.

The bed was reduced in length when they rebuilt it so that it was easier to store and drive.  The truck still even has the original headlights, original windshield, and original radiator!  The radiator needs to be replaced but still works.  This truck always starts right up and runs and drives great.  It has both crank and electric start.  It also has a 3-speed transmission.  It will overheat if you drive it very far on a hot day (radiator should be replaced).  The front floor panel is missing but is simply a piece of plywood and can be easily made.  The drivers side door strap is broken and the hood likes to come out of its pin holders.  There are small chips and scratches but it is pretty nice for its age.

The truck was restored over 35 years ago and has been in the garage almost continuously since then.  The restoration is slightly aged looking and it actually makes the truck even neater than it would be if it were more recently restored.  It is in excellent shape yet looks a little old.  This thing is super cool and people go crazy when I drive it around.

Free and clear Washington Title.

Project Ugly Horse: Part VIII

Fri, 17 May 2013

Now With More EcoBoost
There's an EcoBoost 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in there somewhere, and it's headed straight for Ugly Horse.
For the second time in my life, I'm staring at an engine in the back of a truck with no concept of how to get it safely into the garage by my lonesome. The first time this happened, I dragged home a $300 International 345 V8 in the back of my Scout Terra only to discover that the bounds of my manliness terminated well before my ability to muscle that 800-pound cast iron block out of the pickup bed.

Ford 'working very hard' on F-150 hybrid

Thu, Dec 4 2014

The lighter, aluminum-bodied 2015 Ford F-150 gets (at best) 26 miles per gallon. That's not bad for a truck that size – and we should always remember that improving gas guzzlers can make a big difference – but what if the popular truck came with a gas-electric hybrid powertrain? How efficient would that be? We heard Ford talking about such a vehicle last year, and now we learn that Ford is still "working very hard" to make a F-150 hybrid happen. You want details? Well, we all want details, but those will not be coming for quite some time. Last year, Ford's global product development chief, Raj Nair, said that the company was planning to have hybrid pickups and hybrid SUVs on sale by 2020. With fuel prices dropping, Nair is now saying that a hybrid F-150 makes more sense, financially, than a diesel, but Ford could make both options available, depending on customer demand. The diesel wouldn't require all that much work, Nair said, since "we've got diesels in the portfolio." To date, the only hybrid F-150s we've seen have been conversions, often PHEVs, like this example from HVET or this one from Quantum. Pickup trucks from other manufacturers haven't been greeted with huge sales numbers. General Motors stopped making its big two-mode hybrids and cancelled the next-gen program.

New car market raining on convertibles' parade

Mon, 08 Jul 2013

Whether fitted with soft or hard folding lids, today's droptops are better than ever for year-round motoring. Advancements in power top mechanisms, sealing, aerodynamics, structural rigidity, rollover safety and creature comforts like heated and cooled seats mean that modern convertibles are more versatile and better to drive than ever before. Yet the segment's sales took a dive during the recession and haven't come back, Automotive News reports.
Part of that is because automakers are looking at today's more sensible buyers and simply not developing as many new models, and that lack of fresh iron is curbing sales. AN cites R.L. Polk data which notes that only about one percent of new vehicles registered in the US last year had tops that folded. Back in 2009, it was 1.4 percent, and it was 2 percent in 2006. All-in, some 151,636 convertibles were registered in 2012. That's more units more than were registered in each of the past three years, but the market has also grown as the economy has picked up speed, and as a percentage of new vehicles purchased, convertible sales are lagging.
Thus far in 2013, the Ford Mustang is America's top-selling convertible, with 6,421 units registered through the end of April, followed by its rival, the Chevrolet Camaro, at 4,751 units. The Volkswagen Beetle isn't far behind, with 4,305, but from that point, it's a steep drop off to the fourth-place Mercedes-Benz SL-Class and its 2,380 sales.
