Custom Built in 2011 as a replica and/or tribute woodie wagon. (Titled as 2011 Homemade)
Fiberglass fenders, front grill shell, and side curtains, metal hood section. Extended cowling for more leg room. Custom built wood body with steel reinforced corners and frame. Fabric Seats, front has bucket seats and back bench. Carpet with sound barrier materiel laid down first. Clam shell rear door opening. Model A Chrome door handles. Laminated glass all the way around. Electric windows. Electric wiper. Turn signals, dimmer switch for the head lights Polish steering column. Grant steering wheel. Dolphin Gauges with digital odometer. Heat and Defrost, NO A/C CD Player. 1995 Toyota Truck Chassis was used as a donor frame, motor and tranny. Motor is a 22R. The 2-valve SOHC 2.4 L (2,366 cc) 22R was produced from 1981 through 1997. Motor and tranny is stock, except for the Holly Carb. Manual Choke. Torch-en bar front end, new shocks. Steel wheels new tires. Use as your daily driver or a cruiser. Hennessey completes first VelociRaptor SUV conversion [w/video]
Mon, 20 May 2013Start with a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor as your base vehicle for modification, and chances are high that you'll end up with something pretty cool. Now, have those modifications done by professional lunatics Hennessey Performance, make the project turning the pickup into an ultra-long SUV, and the result stands a real chance of being a total kick in the ass. Let us present the Hennessey VelociRaptor then, in all of its awesomeness.
Hennessey has taken care in grafting a "Expedition style" rear cabin onto the Raptor, complete with an optional third row. The pictures we have show a cabin that's up to the fit and finish standards of the original Ford truck, too. The cab added over the bed also makes room for a massive load space out back, accessible via split out-folding doors and long enough for a person to lay down in (see video).
Mechanically, the truck-turned-SUV sticks with Ford's stock 6.2-liter V8, rated at 411 horsepower, or can be had with a supercharger and some 600 hp. Hennessey says the stock-motor VelociRaptor will run from 0-60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds, while the hi-po version takes just 5.9 seconds. The SUV does take some of the off-road ability away from the Raptor, with the company saying it hasn't yet had the opportunity to test its capabilities. On-roading and "moderate off-road duties" are the current prescription.
Ford unveils Mustang 50th anniversary logo, plans merchandise
Tue, 26 Mar 2013The Ford Mustang turns 50 years old this year, and this is the logo that will announce the milestone occasion on a special line of merchandise. The graphic is the result of an internal design competition, and Ford will give 50 different companies the license to use it on traditional logo merchandise like shirts and watches, along with some untraditional items like pinball machines.
Ford is going to begin the celebrations at this week's New York Auto Show and continue them throughout the year, but April 17 is the official birthday of the the pony car that just won't quit. You can expect to start seeing anniversary merchandise in the next couple of weeks.
2013 Ford F-150 Limited
Mon, 28 Jan 2013The Ford F-150 received yet another new model for the 2013 model year, the Limited trim, bringing the ways you can order this country's most popular vehicle to a grand total of 10. There really is an F-150 to suit any need now, and the Limited variant slots in at the very top of the range, above the already pampering Platinum model.
While normally I would admit that I'm the least-appropriate person to test a pickup, the fact that this particular trim places a much higher premium on luxury than anything with a bed and Blue Oval badge before it means that I don't need the workman chops of a skilled tradesman to judge how well this truck meets its true aim.
