Ford's classiest tudor sedan for 1930-31 Model A with the distinctive bustle on the rear, padded top and the slanted windshield. This all steel body was redone years before it was modified into a resto-rod, and could use some refinishing. Chevy 4.3 V6, 700r overdrive automatic, HEI ignition, headers, stainless exhaust, on a Brookville chassis with Heidts Superide independent front suspension and coil rear suspension. This car has run, but needs more work to be ready for the road. All glass has been replaced, GM column, Walker radiator, new gauges, LeBaron Bonney mohair interior, expensive 16-inch Coker wire wheels with Dunlop radials, gas tank in trunk, new wiring harness installed in cowl, (heater not wired) stainless exhaust.  Car needs to be sorted and finished. Needs: new starter, trans linkage set, glass fenders worked, windshield wipers, hood finishing, some re-paint, new door hinges (available from Wescotts), and top recovered. One of the rarest body styles with junk bodies selling for thousands ...Over 20K invested. Could easily be restored to original - firewall not cut. Reason for sale - too many projects - not getting any younger.

Picture of chassis is from manufacturer (Brookville) and not actual frame. Vicky pictures on end of listing are examples of rodded cars

GM also sheds parts from its pickups to boost payload ratings

Thu, 31 Jul 2014

The row between Ford and Ram over who boasts the best-in-class tow rating for heavy duty pickups has revealed a number of things. Chief among them is a report that Ford removes items like the spare tire, jack, radio and center console from its vehicles in a bid to lower its base curb weight and therefore keep the truck's gross vehicle weight rating down.
For those that need a refresher, GVWR is the vehicle's curb weight plus its maximum payload. A lower GVWR allows Ford to station its F-450 among the so-called Class III pickups, despite the fact that internally, it has the makings of a more brutish Class IV truck.
Ford explains away these deletions, saying a customer could order their vehicle in such a manner. It has also come to light that Ford is not the only automaker to engage in such practices.

Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally lands on Google board

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

Former Ford CEO Alan Mulally often referred to the Blue Oval as a technology company when he led the automaker. Now he'll be offering guidance to a different kind of technology firm: Google.
Mulally was appointed to Google's board of directors July 9, and late Tuesday, it was announced that he will serve on the company's audit committee. The veteran executive led Ford from September 2006 until he retired in June, succeeded by Mark Fields.
While Mulally will act as a board member - rather than in a managerial role - his presence adds credibility to Google's recently announced plans to produce an autonomous car. The ambitious program calls for 100 prototypes to begin testing later this summer. Production of the car is rumored to be in collaboration with a Detroit area performance company, Roush.

Ken Block is at it again in Gymkhana 6

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

If there's one thing we'll say about Ken Block and his latest installment in the Gymkhana family, it's that it's far more structured than previous videos, but that doesn't mean it skimps on the entertainment. Block is on a purpose-built course which was touted as "The... Ultimate... Gymkhana... Grid... Course" in last week's preview. Unlike Gymkhana 5, which took placed on closed streets in San Francisco, this course seems much more compact.
Block has an entire array of challenges to tackle in his 650-horsepower Ford Fiesta ST, and none of them look particularly easy. In fact, we'd argue that Gymkhana 6's grid course requires much more precise driving that previous titles. There are Segways, Lamborghinis and massive pieces of construction equipment that all must be dealt with.
We've got the entire 6:28 of Gymkhana madness for you down below. Scroll down for the video and then hit Comments and let us know how this installment compares to previous Block works.
