Older Restoration, All Steel, No Modifications, Perfect Mechanical Condition. on 2040-cars
Berkeley, California, United States
If you are looking for a car to have fun with, this is it. It was restored from 1976 to 1978 with over $20,000.00 spent. We have all the reciepts and a photo album with even the Barn Find photos. We have owned the car for about 6 years. We have shown this car at the Marin, Palo Alto and Hillsborough Concours. It was awarded Best Vintage at the Pacific Grove Concours Rally 2008 and best in class at various car shows in 2009, 2011 and 2013. Because of it's unmodified condition she almost always wins a trophy when entered in the stock classes of those years. It is in perfect mechanical shape and needs nothing to drive and enjoy. The car is a joy to drive and really turns heads. It is registered with the correct year plates, comes with tools and some parts. It does have some wear and tear on the body as she is no trailer Queen. I have driven her around town quite a bit and my Grandhildren love riding in her. I have photo documented the paint issues. It does have a recent LeBaron Interior, Parade Boot and Rebuilt Speedometer. If you are looking for a car to drive, have fun with and not worry about getting a scratch, this is it. We have had our fun with it, bought an MG-TD and now it's time for someone else to enjoy her. Any questions feel free to call or e-mail. Ken, 510-414-4953, gogiantks@aol.com

Stock Miata beats bunch of high-powered cars in wet 1/4-mile drag race
Thu, 06 Jun 2013When is a stock, 167-horsepower Mazda MX-5 Miata quicker than a Chevrolet Corvette, Ford Mustang, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lotus Elise and a Porsche 911? When it's raining. Sort of.
Mazda Canada arranged a unique drag race to show off the fact that the Miata's optional power retractable folding hardtop can go from top-down to top-up in just 12 seconds flat. In this video, all six cars line up for a drag race, and it starts to rain (well, sort of - but you'll have to watch the video all the way to the end to see what we mean). The green flag is waved, and the timer starts as soon as the convertibles begin to put their tops up. But because the Miata's roof mechanism gets the car's roof back up a full 5.1 seconds quicker than the second-place car, the Mazda gets a serious advantage off the line for the actual drag race.
It's a fun video. And while we've spoiled the results (come on, the video was uploaded by Mazda, you knew the Miata was going to win), be sure to see how it all unfolds, below.
Ford, GM to collaborate on 9- and 10-speed transmissions
Mon, 15 Apr 2013Back in October, there were reports that General Motors and Ford Motor Company were hard at work co-developing new nine- and ten-speed automatic transmissions, and now both automakers have confirmed this joint operation. While there are no specific vehicles mentioned to receive either transmission, a collaborative press release issued by GM and Ford mention that the transmission will be designed for front- and rear-wheel-drive cars, crossovers, trucks and SUVs.
These aren't the first powertrain components developed jointly between these cross-town rivals, either. The six-speed automatic currently used in vehicles like the Ford Edge, Ford Fusion, Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Equinox was engineered in a similar fashion. As is the case with this existing transmission, both automakers will assist in the design, development and testing of the new transmissions, but each will build its own units in its own factories. Scroll down for the official press release.
Ford open to diesel, hybrid or electric Mustang? [w/poll]
Sun, 08 Dec 2013The Ford Mustang may not be the first vehicle that comes to mind when you think of environmentally-friendly forms of transportation. The arrival of the turbocharged four-cylinder engine in the new Mustang could do a lot to combat that perception, but the EcoBoost engine may just be the tip of the iceberg in that regard.
Speaking with Ford powertrain boss Bob Fascetti at the reveal of the new Mustang in Australia, GoAuto reports that the Blue Oval automaker is considering offering its latest pony car with a diesel, hybrid or even electric powertrain in the future.
"We're not looking at diesel at the moment, but given where we need to go with fuel consumption we are looking at all our options," said Fascetti. Other options could include a nine- or ten-speed automatic transmission to replace the current six-speed unit in order to help improve fuel economy and emissions for the Mustang, although figures for the current lineup have yet to be revealed.
