Beautiful, One Of A Kind Ford Model A Roadster on 2040-cars
Denver, Colorado, United States
The car has been gone through within six months by a mechanic, had all the fluids replaced, brakes fixed, transmission and engine gone through, and is top working condition. A few differences about the car from a stock model is, the head lights and hood are from a Cord L-29 special. The original model A engine has been replaced with a model B engine which can hit speeds up to 55 mph. This was done so it could be driven in the city or highway. The gas tank has been moved to the back, with a fuel pump added to it. This is in pristine condition and this car makes a statement for anyone who owns it. Please be aware, this vehicle uses leaded gasoline. The wheels are off of a 1935 model, and it has a 6 volt alternator instead of a generator. Runs great, no leaks.
This car was originally purchased by my grandfather in the 1970'S. He has acquired all parts through a life long process and passion he had. After he passed away, he left it to me, and I have had it garage kept for 6 years, and have never driven it myself, due to the fact I'm 6'3" and cant fit in it properly. So be advised, it does not suit a person over 6 ft comfortably. The headlights have authenticity plates on them, so you know they are not reproduction. The lights themselves, took him 15 years for him to find. Payment must be made via wire transfer, and buyer is responsible for picking it up and or shipping it. The vehicle is located in Denver Colorado. The total mileage on the vehicle is unknown, the Model B engine was installed ten years ago, and less than 2000 miles has been put on it since, runs great. Its been kept in a heated garage. On Feb-25-14 at 20:48:51 PST, seller added the following information: Please take note: The item has the trim color listed as purple, and it should be labeled as black trim. See picture for any clarification. |

Jay Leno is far beyond driven in his 1971 Pantera
Mon, 23 Jun 2014Perhaps it's fitting that the band Pantera is known for its heavy metal music, because the DeTomaso Pantera is the automotive equivalent of a metal album. It's short, aggressive and makes a mean sound. It doesn't mess around either, with a Ford 351-cubic-inch (5.75-liter) V8 sending mountains of torque to the rear wheels. This week, Jay Leno takes us on a detailed tour of his '71 to show why it rocks.
There's a regular format to Jay Leno's Garage. It starts with Jay and maybe a guest taking a look at the car and talking about its history, and then they take it out on the open road. However, this video is practically a Pantera buyer's guide. Jay is adamant from the start that the last thing anyone should own is a stock example. To remedy this, he and his guest, the editor of the Pantera Club magazine, take viewers to school about some of the ways to turn them into even better performance machines.
No matter what you do to it, though, the Pantera requires that the driver adapt to it, not the other way around. For example, Jay isn't a big guy by most standards, but he has to cram himself into the cockpit with his shoes off and shirt partially unbuttoned just to go for a drive. Still, once out on the road, it all makes sense with that rumbling V8 and those Italian supercar looks. Scroll down to watch and learn a lot more about this uncompromising '70s performance car.
Consumer Reports says these are the worst new cars of 2014
Thu, 27 Feb 2014Consumer Reports has announced its annual list of worst vehicles, a cringe-inducing contrast to its list of top vehicles. Ignominiously leading the way in 2014 is Chrysler, which has a staggering seven models listed.
Jeep nearly sweeps the small SUV segment by itself, with its Compass, Patriot and 2.4-liter version of the new Cherokee, while the only midsize sedans listed by CR were the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Avenger. The new Dodge Dart and the Dodge Journey round out CR's condemnation of Chrysler.
Ford is taking heat as well, with the Taurus, Edge and their counterparts from Lincoln all listed as the worst vehicles in their respective segments. Toyota doesn't fare much better, with its Lexus IS, Scion iQ and tC also making the list.
Next SVT Mustang may axe Shelby name, go naturally aspirated
Mon, 10 Jun 2013Following our first glimpse at the 2015 Ford Mustang out on the road, the fine folks at Road and Track have divulged some details on what the Blue Oval's next pony might have in store. We've already seen that the car will get some very sleek, Evos-inspired design cues, and an independent rear suspension is indeed in store. These new details, however, concern the muscle car's beating heart.
For starters, the base Ford coupe is expected to carry on with V6 power, likely from the same 3.7-liter unit found in today's car. From there, R&T says the next step up will be a four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, likely displacing 2.3 liters, putting out as much as 350 horsepower. Of course, a Mustang wouldn't be a Mustang without V8 thrust, and R&T states that the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 will continue on into the 2015 car, making something like 450 horsepower.
But it's at the high end of the Mustang range where things will, reportedly, get very, very interesting. Road & Track claims that the top-shelf 'Stang will likely lose the supercharger from its engine, producing a metric crap-ton of naturally aspirated grunt instead. Additionally, the SVT-fettled Mustang will likely be dropping its Shelby moniker, in favor of "a name you're familiar with," according to the magazine (you know, like, Cobra).
